I believe this is Franz Joseph Haydn's "Little Organ Mass" - a beautiful composition that features a major organ solo (hence the nickname). The photographer cannot pan left and right since he or she is looking through a window from the Hausoratorium. Its a shame the beginning of the Benedictus was cut off. Yes, the soloists are better than we have heard on tour in recent years. For those who haven't been to the Hofburg, the Mass is celebrated four floor below the choirloft. Who is conducting?
Maestrovoci, you are right with Haydn, but this is his NICOLAIMESSE.
About your soloist comment, i take it you are not from the east coast, since this boy -together with his twin brother, also a soloist- toured that area of the US in 2006, with great success. Sorry you missed them.
You know your way in the HMK! Good, but you haven't been there for a while, since Maestro Pleyer has been conducting there for a few years now.
NICOLAIMESSE. Correct! And I should be ashamed, since I have conducted this with my own choir!
Interesting that the "soprano" soloist is truly a bass - wow!
It is always wonderful to find singers who can do that. Maestro Pleyer is an old hand, and I am happy he is involved in the Mass "performances". I spent a year (1964-65) sitting one seat behind my teacher Ferdinand Grossmann (when he wasn't conducting) who would tell me which edition to purchase at Doblinger, etc. Thanks for the correction.
uh, well, he actually was already a Bass by the time of this recording. In fact, his voiced changed about 6 month before this mass. He is 16 now and guess what: he still sings solo Soprano, and better than back then.

For the "bass soloist", do a search with "bracialegun" and you'll see what he sounds like at age 16!

You two must be real fanatics. This is the Schubertchor, but I know that because I was singing with them then.

They dont get the high notes really good. Maybe they didnt warm up before the consert

It may be so. A boy of soprano is quite already tall and seems to have a change of voice soon.

there's about half an hour of warm up before the performance, but keep in mind that it's still like 9 in the morning
