Really 2-7 saved my ass as i had been there for 8.5 hours already and lost watched my squad leader get hit in the arm. yeah you sure saved our ass 8 hours to fucking late i went under over and through that on ramp.
man, those hemtt crews have serious guts! guns and gas.. as far as im concerned they are as gutsy as evac pilots. driving a hemtt and looking down into the window by your boots you realize how thin that cab really is. what a vehicle though. any servicemen reading this, thank you for your sacrifice.
The amount of gunfire... the report of the rifles and machine guns all at once sounded as frequent as raindrops from a torrential down pour. I'll never forget the sounds and smells of that day!
@jcalifano2 I still have it haunt me in dreams to this day. A smell a feel in the air, a sound can trigger a memory. I can still feel the heat of that day and here the sounds of the RPG's that seemed to never end. I remember how exhausted we all were after the day was done but the adreniline wouldn't let any of us get any rest. Yes I will carry these memories with me for the rest of my days.
Pay attention at 0:20 as an injured U.S. soldier being pulled out of the kill zone sees Iraqi Republican Guard dug in just a few meters away ready to fire. Shoots and kills IRG from the stretcher. LEGENDARY BALLS OF IRON!!!!
Read Dave Zucchino's "Thunder Run: Armored Strike to Capture Baghdad," 2004, Atlantic Books. I was there too. TF Hammer all the way to Lions -- just missed getting hit by that BFM at Saints that took out 2BCT TOC on April 7, 2003. Such valor is inconceivable to bed wetting, piss ant couch potato net surfing "warriors." Nothing but respect for the Rock of the Marne. You conspiracy quacks and desk bound paper pushers are incapable of understanding. Y'all would 'class 1 download' in your pants.
@gosciu555 - like I said. Those who weren't there can never understand. Pre-conceived notions from the safe vantage point of the living room couch fog the view. But you've still got a right to do like Dylan told the 'science student' and 'twist it into your own thing.' (see Don't Look Back) Get it straight. I'm not a hero. Just an observer. Salam Aleikum

Soldiers do what they're told, and most US soldiers join for the benefit of being a US soldier (G.I. Bill, the "pride" effect the hazard pay etc.) our youth are being funnelled into the military by costly education and expensive healthcare, we are not serving our country we are not serving our fellow man, we are serving as pawns to secure the elite leaders' wealth and tighten the stranglehold on our children until one day they wake up homeless and enslaved by the very men who promise freedom.
We are doing what we do BEST. Serve our country, and taking our orders from superiors. You want to talk politics, ask this questions G.W. Bush. We as soldiers was doing what we were told to do. And we did it well.
@kempet NBC was the embedded reporters that we had there, This engagement happened just days after David Bloom, NBC's reporter, had died due to natural causes. Craig White was the cameraman and had stepped up to fill Mr. Bloom's place for the remainder of our time there. I highly respect the work that he did throughout the entire time and view him as a friend and a brother to this day after what we lived through during that time of our lives.
I was there that day. There were incredible things being done by all the soldiers on Curly. We can't forget that this clip is just a small clip of that day but it does help get the feeling of the situation that we faced
was that 2-69 AR
