the biggest confusion is that people call it an ego when they are say " full of themselves" the "me, me , me" factor. The thing is, its the id showing itself here, not the ego...there is nothing inherently wrong with either the id or ego, unless they are "inflated"
A wholesome healthy individual is one who can balance all the id, ego and superego..its about balance and not so much about suppression or inflation of each. They are all a part of us, all three.
Green Tea. I have a whistling tea kettle. It's good fun, and a good way to prepare for a video. Green tea has a minimal amount of caffeine, maybe 15-25 mg compared to Mountain Dew which has 50 mg. Coffee has 100-150, and Red Bull 80 mg. I have a Mountain Dew habit, but I try to slow it down at night. When I get on a serious writing jag, I go to Panera Bread Shop: FREE refills on tea. I go with English breakfast 2 packets per cup again and again. Far better than Red Bull.
There IS another option. Instead of there being a "real" identity, there could be an absence of any identity. There's a new show on fox called "The Dollhouse" in which people are "imprinted" with a variety of different personalities and wiped clean after completing certain missions. My issue is that when you cast off your false identity and sit at home, what are you when you can be anything you want? Is Superman actually Clark Kent or vice versa?...
Is Bruce Wayne the Batman or is Batman actually Bruce Wayne? Looking at dualities in superhero identities, you have to wonder if there is any possible "real" core to any of them. But I see this in everyday people. Workaholics may have an issue differentiating between their identity at work and at home. Celebrities. Roles as parents. What is the difference between someone who performs a function and one who senses and experiences?...
Input and output with relation to the external world. But what about our internal world? What if you look inside and see nothing? This is why I say that our identity in the external world AND our identity unto ourselves are both False. They represent nothing. We are complex neural networks that respond to stimuli, think, and sense. There is nothing concrete...
I'm on a real writing jag here... I find myself to be most comfortable around anyone who doesn't expect me to be anything, who lets me flow without any need for me to make myself into something that is satisfactory to them.

Talking about a false identity assumes that there is a real identity, no?
