Guess im saying what everyone else is. The make-up of Garana/Netrebko was a better match than this. Having said that, Diana is a far superior Soprano than Nadia in my opinion which makes me wonder how Garana/Damrau would have sounded.. Taking nothing at all away from Nadia, i love her. But i would love to hear a nice match for Diana with this piece.
I agree, their voices don't match well, and they get out of synch. with each other some times, which is jarring. I love DD's silvery tone, and indeed the mezzo has a nice dark richness, but they don't work together.
a little too dramatic, for my taste, compared to, schwarzkopf, caballe, sutherland, and of course garanca/netrebko. But still gorgeous, Diana overwhelming as ever
All I can say is wow. I love this song and both of these singers. Diana is an amazing soprano and I rather like Nadia. And am I the only one who's noticed that both their names the exact same letters?
Wow. What an observation! Yes the names. Weird hey. And yes, Diana, amazing as always. She is finally getting the recognition she deserves. Greatest Female soprano the world has seen. So deserving of this title.
ahh this make me so sick...this should be a duet...but this is how it is in opera everyone try to sing louder or higher well...specially when it comes to women ...women they are so bitchy..i m a woman but i think that we all have to respect and admire someone elses voices or at least try to learn something ...soprano (weeping:(
Diana Damrau is a soprano, and Nadia Krasteva is a mezzo-soprano. Damrau has coloratura abilities, but she is always billed as a soprano, and she sings the soprano part. Not sure where you are getting the idea that Krasteva is a soprano, her voice is far too deep.
seems like they want to fight each other, to show people who is the best,, the pitch control of diana and nadia doesn't fit the song,, like water and soil..............
i have very high expectations of this song probably because this song made me LOVE opera. sad to say, this rendition is a complete mess. it seems as tho Krasteva is trying to outsing Damrau. they are obviously not singing toether. boris 1281 is correct so who's that bloody idiot who gave him a "thumbs down"? get lost
The mezzo is absolutely ridiculous in this part. She plays Preziosila and not Malika!!! But so is Damrau, she seems more like Malika's servant!!! Funny, Both voices sound nice, but only when they do not sing together. I think that the mezoo would make a fantastic Eboli or Carmen, but not Malika!
Nadia Krasteva great

Vibrant, deep and moving timbre is this of Nadia Krasteva. Fabulous dynamical modulation. And a so poetic presense.

I find damrau too loud here. Krasteva has a great voice. netrebko and garanca from badden badden was a better pairing.

this song is very relaxing.... Specially Dina & Nadia gave their best...
LOVE THIS SONG....
BRAVA!!!!

This is one of the better renditions
on here, but they are both mezzo's.
robinajerowsky 1 year ago
@robinajerowsky Diana Damrau is a lyric coloratura soprano. How you can even call her a mezzo is absolutely beyond me.
tenor220 1 year ago
@tenor220 actually i do believe diana is a dramatic coloratura, by trait she plays more dramatic roles to lyric ones.
aalg4c 1 year ago
@aalg4c she's lyrcal Cororatura soprano! she can sing everithing!
liricobarroco 1 year ago
@robinajerowsky Diana is definitely not a mezzo, have you seen her sing Queen of the Night? its crazy. I love her lol

Truly beautiful, but I prefer the performance of Anna Netrebko and Elina Garanca. Anna as soprano and Elina as mezzo, it gives me goosebumps.
But eventually Diana is the best alive soprano on earth.
alejonightwish 2 years ago 5
@alejonightwish Netrebko as a very dark voice for sing with a mezzo! and Elina has a shiny voice for sing with Netrbko!
This the best Dout for ever! Nadia and Diana!

I think Diana would sing this duet so much better with Joyce DiDonato, they have really good connection together.
I love her, she's the greatest soprano of our times, but I don't like this duet.

For me only exists two mezzosopranos in the world: nadia krasteva and cecilia bartoli

hehehe you are so right
and i find diana bitchier than the other lady in that way...
she is the one trying to sing higher
but i think this sounds really good =)

While this is a duet, it is not two sopranos, but one soprano and a mezzo soprano. One is supposed to sing higher than the other!

you can notice it like from instinct
in spanish we call it sentido comun!!!

I concur. If we separated the voices and had them sing the parts by themselves it would sound great, They have no chemistry to gether, whatsoever.

Say what you will, I loved the performance.

What is up with that Mezzo? Her placement is way back and she's not letting the sound spin at all. No wonder this duet sounds off!

Yes, it does... The voices don't really match.

Even I as a Damrau-blind-fan have to admit this aria has been done better by other pairs.. I liked Netrebko, Garanca.
I just think their colors or whatnot blend weirdly.. doesn't sound too great :/
