i worked for a company in india assembling all these plotters from huston instruments right from dmp 40, 52, 60. in dmp 52 we had the 14 pen plotter which had 14 pens with different colours and line thickness. we did all the assemblies for the whole plotter from scratch to a final working plotter before it went for final testing. i also specialized in making the whole drum assembley for the dmp 60 with the pillow blocks, it was quite time consuming to set all the drum concentric, happy to work

Hey , it was fun seeing the DMP-60 I was the Manufacturing Engineer at Houston Instruments for all the years the company was in business. I spent many hours testing and working on the paper and piinch roller system to get bthe paper to track and keep accuracy. Any way I enjoyed seeing it operate again.
I don't understand why you had to block the pen holder sensor, I was trying this with my DMP 60-DL and it worked fine with the pen holder up and out of the way without any tampering. the problem I found was over time the tape starts to slip from the up and down motion which causes the pen to shake loose and plot inaccurately.
Yes.. they can handle HPGL.. but not very well (it's kind of a nag to get it right.. but it works). DMPL is far better handled in this plotter. This takes parallel connection to the PC.. as it is a little old. Still it can be converted to a perfect vinyl plotter with the right blade holder and blade (use Roland only.. they're the best).. and cheap too (the plotter.. not the blade holder.. eheh).. :)
Hi , I was going to buy one of these plotters, but I had a couple of questions.First, do they take the HPGL file format? And second, do they use a standard serial or parallel cable? Thank you.
mate, can you plzz tell me what buttons did u push to start testing? and can it test without connecting to pc? and can it work with win7? thanks
