  • such a cute number :)

  • Okay, no, seriously. The Bert line "When you're gone, I miss you, and I'm happy when you're here". HEARTBROKEN, when you think of how Frank had to lose Jim.

  • ESSA MÚSICA ME FAZ CHORAR,EU SEI DECORADA A LETRA Ç_Ç MTO LINDOS MEUS BERT E ERNIE :3

  • 2:25

  • Goshhh! Earnie cud attimes be a lovely good-boy. could really sing..."you see what I mean bert"- lol

  • great song but to me sad a little

  • aww!!!!! :( im cring!!!!!!

  • MEMORIES LIKE A MUTHA FUCKA

  • This is a tribute to Jim Henson, at least that is the way I see it. It is interesting to note that in the movie "Wagons East" they did a similar tribute to John Candy just after his death. You can tell when it was done.

  • @MichaelBrookham

Yeah. It was meant to be a tribute to Jeff Moss, but you could refer to it as a tribute to Henson's Ernie as well. It deends on how you look at it.

  • Most of these memories were good times for Ernie, and hell for Bert

being buried in the sand against his will... being tormented whilst reading... having his bed carried outside by singing sheep...having his nose stolen

"nights so full of talking we never fell asleep" even though bert was desperately trying to

  • Oh,how I Love This Song...

  • I always thought this was a tribute to Jim Henson

  • @PGMEagle I'd make a good song FOR a Jim tribute, though.

  • This part got aired on Dutch TV a few days ago and I loved it. Best Bert and Ernie part ever. :)

  • Bert and Ernie forever.

  • i remember all those episodes

  • bert and ernie is not gay there just awsome friends we all have same gender friends dont mean were gay

  • this reminds me of my sister i don't see her much because she went with dad when our parents split up :(

  • So, here are the clips that were used in this & who posted them. Correct me if I'm wrong: Dr, Livingston, I Presume! (jojito26), Egyptian Mummy Statues (qbeam), Ernie's Shopping List (jonny), But I Like You (watt), Cavemen Days: Crossing The Street (sawings), Guess What I'm Thinking Of Game (jbrang), Bert's Purple Hand (Marshal), Ernie's Snowman (tpirman & sawings), Ernie Burries Bert at the Beach (sawings), Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere FISHY, FISHY, FISHY!!!!! (qbeam),

  • Rubber Duckie (various), Bert Teaches Bernece Checkers (watt), Ernie Friend-Watching (BuddyBoy), Dance Myself To Sleep (jbrang), Ernie & Bert at the Movies: Tall Hat (watt), Bert's Blanket (Marshal), Bert's Bust (retro80s), Ernie's Guessing Game: Puppy (unknown), Sound of Water Dripping & Ernie & Bert Go Camping (both watt). & what do you mean by "Jeff Mosses farewell to Sesame Street", watt?

  • @ZNKChannel I'm not Wattamack4, but I'll be glad to answer.

Basically, Jeff Moss had been already been diagnosed with colon cancer at the time and knew that he wasn't going to be alive much longer, so this song ended up being considered as his "farewell to Sesame Street".

Moss died on September 24th, 1998. According to the Muppet Wiki, one of his last writing credits was for the Elmo's World: Music segment.

At least, that's what I understand.

  • my dad used to sing this to me b4 he walked out on us and died so yea i cry

  • this reminds me of my friend I had once.

  • This is one of the best songs ever. It makes you wanna cry. It's very beautiful. And Ernie sings it better than anyone ever could!

  • I always cry when i hear this!!!

  • Me too!

  • i still remeber wen i was abit young,i watched dis show n dey played dis song...i reaally love it then...now i that i listen to it again...it reminds me of dat evening..n my childhood days...i stilll luv it!

  • great.

  • this reminds me of my old friend.

  • So when did this bit first air? Because that is not Henson doing Ernie's voice.

  • Not sure, but Steve Whitmire first started performing Ernie around 1993. This song is just so sweet, its such a strong and good display of friendship.

  • 1997

  • This song makes me think back to the times when my parents, brother, and fiance were all still alive. It's both comforting and saddening at the same time.

  • i play this song all the time on the piano. i actually learned it by ear. there is no sheet music for this to be found anywhere. but this song makes sad a lot. i played it for my girlfriend 2 years ago. we're no longer together but being with her and singing this song is one of the . . . things that i remember . . .

  • Aww I love tis song.

  • A cried like crazy when I watched this. I'm 23 years old and I was raised on Sesame Street as a child. I'm not exactly sure why I started crying, I'm sure it was just a mixture of sadness and happiness. Thank you so much for uploading this.

  • This made me cry. It brought me back to my childhood. Sesame Street is the greatest.

  • damn right it is

  • @TeamNutshell Oh I agree a million times over. If you have a best friend then that makes this song cooler.

  • im sorry, Jeff Moss?

  • he wrote lots of music for sesame street and won many grammys. one year later he passed away due to cancer... :(

  • I was born in '71 & this also brings back memories. It also makes me cry to think back to simple times.

  • So beautiful. I am a big Sesame Street fan and this song touches me every time.

  • I was about 4 years old when i saw this clip i was born On May 1,1993

  • Hm. I was born in 1982. As far as Sesame Street is concerned, people born when you were are interesting to me because you were probably the last group of kids to watch what I call "the old show". You would have been four or five in 1998 when it started reinventing itself. It's changed more in the past 10 years than it did in all 29 years before that. Sure, some things changed during those years, but kids watching in 1973, 1983, and 1993 were having a very similar experience. 2003? Not so much.

  • "similar experience"...very impt. people these days (sorry, dont mean to be all philosophical, mean my words..) are SO divided its SO RARE, so impt and i cant stress more..so impt to have something 'similar' to 'group together' you know, instead of just hitting/killing the other just because we have little differences..sorry, im not always nostalgic, but just these impt points..having "similar experience", its SUCH an important thing...and slowly disintegrating these days..

  • It does feel like we're getting more and more hopelessly fragmented. I mean sure, it's just popular culture, but I think that can count for more than one would think. Common experiences do mean something. It's too bad Sesame Street can no longer be considered the same kind of "common ground" that it once was. Just one less thing.....

  • Cute doggy! What a good dog, letting himself be carried by a puppet.

  • This song makes me cry because I think of how fast my little daughter is growing up. Soon she will not want to spend so much time with daddy and we won't be playing so many silly games and things. I love you Sophie.

  • I was 6 when this episode came on and I was still scared of Cookie Monster until I then got older and realized that he was a harmless puppet and I felt rather silly. I was born February 1, 1991.

  • I meant not counting this one but ok. =0)

  • strange

  • Did any one see their favorite Bert and Ernie clip? What was it?

  • well, this song so this would be my fav!

  • My favourite one is the one with Brad's Bath, with all the toys. I dunno why, but it just perfectly fits Ernie's personality.

    And Brad is adorable! ^^

  • I miss Brad...

  • This is probably the sweetest Bert and Ernie clip. Thanks for posting it.

  • This made me cry and smile, all at the same time.

  • This one must be Brian's way of kinda remembering his Dad, so sweet...Does anyone have the First clip, where they go to the jungle, its "Dr. Livingston, I presume!"

  • i just saw this song today and loved it i love all bert an enie memories they used for this segment. i was hoping to find it i rushed right onto youtube to look for it you just made my whole day and i just woke up lol
