  • I didn't like that in that series when his spider-sense went off he just stood there and get hit. The whole point of the spider-sense is to know something dangerous is heading for you and to GET OUT OF THE WAY!!!!! In this show it was like this- "My spider-sense... I'll just stand here... Oww!!"

  • wtf. this video doesn't have any criticisms at all. It baffles me how it got 62 likes

even if you don't like the show, this video is crap

  • I like both shows, butI kinda wanted to see what happened later in the spectacular one..

  • 05:10 Hmmmmmm I'm pretty sure Hitler, Pol Pot and Richard Ramirez would have reacted the same way had they been chased by a guy in a metal vulture costume who could fly. Oh wait this video was probably made by some 3 grader who thinks that just because your evil, you would have to be pretentiously bad ass and act weird all the time to. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid.

  • @Mordur696bren No, it's because it's out of character for Norman Osborn to act like that. He's supposed to be cold, calculating and remorseless, where in this show he just...well, you saw the video.

  • @TheSatanicCreature Again to be cold and calculating and remorseless you also have to be superBADASS never fearing!!! BULLSHIT.

  • @Mordur696bren Norman Osborn rarely expresses his fear. And if he does, it isn't whining like it is in the 90's show.

  • @TheSatanicCreature Exactly. If you compare both Norman's reactions to the Vulture, you can see the difference between the two is as clear as day and night. In SSM he's being held 100s of feet in the air by Vulture and not only is he not afraid of him, he insults him. Even after he got dropped he still didn't scream. And Norman would never live in fear of anyone.

  • 05:12 If only Osborn was the Green Goblin at that point in the series, he would have kicked vulture's a@#.

  • Except for maybe the overacting and Aunt Anna i really don't agree with you on anything else.

  • what is this fucking garbage?

it explains nothing, just annoying slow downs and replays

  • @xin0 Turn the captions/anotations on.

  • ok for one this was a great show and it was the only one that lasted for a hell of a long time still haters gonna hate

  • LOL spider-an overacts soo much it's hard not to laugh !

  • i always found goblins laugh annoying and correct me if im wrong but didnt hobgoblin come before green goblin in the show didnt like that but the show was good for its time but not as good as it is now but spectacular spidey has taken its place

  • @videogameviolence1 Yeah, SSM goblin actually sounded like a maniacial villian. 90s goblin sounded like he inhaled helium.

  • Spectacular Spider-Man was so perfect it hurts.

  • @LukeGriffths121 It even hurts more that we only got two seasons.

  • @KCJ506 I know I know :(.

  • @KCJ506 The New Spiderman made by Mainframe entertainment only had one season.

It's what happens when you put Spider-man on MTV.

  • This so is wayyy to overrated only because of nostalgia factor. You should have include scene where Kingpin rips off the shackles that holden Rhido

  • the guy that does the voice of vegeta for dbz does the voice for spider-man in this series.

  • @EVHORIA4EVER no he doesn't

  • @TheWolverine1987

    indeed he does culero.

  • @EVHORIA4EVER No. Spiderman was voice by Christopher Daniel Barnes, who have never voice Vegeta.

  • @1805902349 I never said it wasn't. And besides the reason why he did that was because he was afraid of Kingpin. Living in fear of someone was so out of character for Norman.

  • @1805902349 The way Norman was portrayed in SSM is more accurate to how he was portrayed in the comics. Norman Osborn isn't a good man gone bad. He's a bad man gone nuts.

  • this was my favorite spiderman show even I am watching it now cause i'm 12

  • Sandman didn't appear in the 90s cartoon because James Cameron at the time was working on a live-action Spidey film where Sandman and Electro were the villains. But seeing as the film never made it through, Electro was used.

  • @CrashJakFan1994 Even after they knew Cameron's movie wasn't happening they still could have brought in Electro and Sandman with their proper alter egos. That's no excuse for them to bastardize Electro.

  • Holy crap, that voice actor can really sell it! ''If I have to chase you forever...YOU'LL PAAAAY!''

  • i specially hate that spidey was a punching bag for every villain.

  • Dude I have got to thank you for making this video. i've been trying to get my friend to watch spectacular spider-man but he says it looks like shit and won't give it a chance. I've been trying to tell him that spectacular spider-man has far better fight scenes (ya know they actually hit each other lol) but he is so stuck on this. Now I grew up with this series so I'll always love it but After much thought I had to say Spectacular spider-man was superior. to bad it got cancelled :(

  • btw, am I the only one who got tired of the long ass dimensional portal plot that spanned like 2 full seasons?

  • Man. as much as I loved the 0s animate series at least i'm not a total nostalgic bone head and am able to admit the series wasn't as great as ppl make it out to be. heck, even Spider-Man Unlimited was better than the 90s series in some ways.

What's funny is i'm currently in an argument with some nut job over how TSSM actually is better than the 90s series in many, many, many ways.

  • i honsestly dont see how any of this is bad.

  • @blizrfiz

Same, whether it had some mishaps or not, it was still a great animated series.

  • this spiderman was my favorite <3

  • Taadaaaaa!! The Spot

  • Its called a creativity and the makers get more "respect" if they don`t do it exactly same than in the comics. The new Spider-Man movie will make mistake if it follow the comics and they don`t dare making something own.

Spider-Man 90s was a successfully because it didn't followed same formula. It`s boring if they making a same over and over again.. with better graphics/effects.

Too bad that spectacular fans just want more action but comics are not just about the fighting etc..

  • i know that some people are going to hate me for saying this but some things in this series are messed up .

  • Wow... The voice actors are so bad. Polish version is much better, with Nick Fury sounding like a real bad-ass he is. The only good voice in American version is Green Goblin...

  • @dupolup original dub is allways better.

  • @dessan18 No it isn't. Don't want to be mean but Nick Fury sounds like kindergarten child raped everyday.

  • @dupolup then why do I see allways mean comments when there is an anime dubbed into English? Because it sounds better in it's original and natural form, even if they don't understand a single word they say it's better. Nevermind the overacting, they say it's better.

  • 2:03 Continuity fail.

Nice work spiderman, you did a front flip and a barrel roll.

  • PLAAAASMAAAAAA!

  • I think the story editor John Semper Jr, Could agree to a lot of the Story plots in this show. But this show was a miracle it even got aired or even was so good as it was. The cuz are they rebuild a studio to work in twice, the story edítor was fired after 6 months so that Semper Jr was called in. All behind sceduale and last minute calls they had to many Voice Actors=100. The all show was for Avi Arad a Toy commercal thats why Hobgoblin was first and the SPIDDHA SLAHYA! GO TO WIKI AND REFERENCE

  • Honestly, I can see the argument towards SSM, but I think in 10-15 years all the SSM fans will be facing the same ridicule. Around that time someone will be pointing out all the flaws of SSM compared to whatever the latest buzz is, and those who grew up on SSM will be defending it the same as those of us who grew up on TAS. Also: Continuity? In the Spiderman universe? Even the comics had a hard time keeping any true continuity XD

  • @Alister533

Of course! Ugh, remember that dated 90's Batman show? That show was so old and lame, unlike the newer "The Batman"....

    ...oh, wait!

  • @GamerSlyRatchet1 lol, touche`, there's an exception to every rule. I still think this argument is mostly based in the age gap.

  • @Alister533

Sure, some things like the cell phones and other technology of our times may be poked fun in 10-15 years, but things like writing, directing, and voice acting are eternal and going to be the most remembered. The 90's Marvel shows were horrible at these, but other shows like Batman, Gargoyles, and others raised the bar for those times.

  • Of course, what REALLY bugged me the most were that we only got the Norman Osborn Green Goblin for three episodes, then he's banished to limbo for the rest of the series, and the series finale was a HUGE let-down by not bringing back the real Mary Jane.

You can find my Spider-Man fan site by going to

    foxspideyfansite

    yolasite

Then .com at the end. Sorry the link's spaced apart and the dots are missing, but it's the only way I can get the link to show up.

  • What most bugged me were...

1.) making Doctor Octopus the Kingpin's lackey and ignoring the brillaint Peter-Ock relationship the show introduced to us.

    2.) No Sandman.

3.) Since he had his own UPN show, no Incredible Hulk.

4.) The Rheinholt Kragov Electro. They made him Red Skull's son? Really?

5.) Kraven and Chameleon's history was ignored

6.) No Fantastic Four in season one, and no Spidey/Human Torch friendship till season five.

7.) Venom and Carnage were banished to another dimension.

  • Meh I know the show had its downsides but I grew up on it so I've always had a soft spot for it.

  • Explosions, need more explosions:)

  • Okay, I'll give you the excessive stock footage, that was a major flaw. But the opening sequence is no more actiony than a lot of other theme songs - they gotta suck the audience in, of course! And Mary Jane's aunt...well, she's supposed to be a bitch. That's her character.

  • This was the Best of it´s time how many other good 90´s came after this! Resemblance to Comicplots from the 70-80´s where spred all over this show. They may only planned 2 sesons for this but it went so good so they continued as well using Kingpin for most cases like SSM usse The Big B. Hobby before Green was just a idea of making Green the most treathing villian. Cross bettwen other Heroes was the best of this show! When the new show starts than I hope it will be better than ssm+tas! PLASMA!!!!

  • The 90's cartoon reused footage because Marvel was bankrupt at the time and had to cut corners.

  • lol @the shield having a Wu-Tang clan look like sign on her shirt!

  • Thanks for ear raping me.

I see nothing wrong whith tihs, its the best spider man adapatation, u have on taste for awesomeness/explosions.

  • as a child I never noticed the re-used animations. I still love this cartoon. However, Spectacular Spider-man is truly superior in dialogue, animation, story, voice acting, continuity, and so on. It's only questionable in the art style. The civilians are so plain, but the villains are awesome; except Electro. I didn't like his design and his personality is too stupid.

  • Mary Jane sounded like a 50 year old woman.

  • Meh, The Spot's still a cool villain. Or atleast one of Spider-Man's more sympathetic ones.

  • @sandydeath56 no, he kinda sucks dude. And for him, they passed up sandman, hammerhead, and other cool guys

  • @Solaris114 Well, they did appear in Spectacular, and I like the Spot because he's such a lame villain. It's kinda hard to explain why I like him so much. Probably his no kill policy, or that he was more or less just forced to become a super villain in the comics by Kingpin.

  • Thank you SO much. This show is extremely overrated. How people like this nonsense but dislike the Spectacular Spider-Man show is a mystery I will never solve.

  • @DarthDaniel1001 both are really good, but spectacular is just more modern and better.

  • one of the best shows ever most kids nowadays don't know what they missed the 90's epic

  • Jesus. How did they ever come to think that THAT design of Electro was cool?

  • My childhood just died...

  • About the Chameleon, you noticed how that one agent tried to find him because no matter who the Chameleon changed into, he'd still have that belt, CLEARLY visible. She was the only one who noticed that. Everyone else just attacked everyone. The Agents'd probably just start punching everyone who walked by if the Chameleon was loose, and not bother to look for that one difference that you'd have to be stupid to not notice. Noticing that belt is about as easy as being 0 when you're born.

  • @spiderguy369 they never should have been promted to shield agens with those 'amazing' deductive skills.

  • @Solaris114

    ....Yeah......

And why does the Chameleon have that weird belt, he's supposed to have actual disguises, not some weird belt with weird advanced technology. Also, they have laser guns instead of average AK-47's. They also, literally, never say die. They say die in tons of 70's animated films/shows, but not in the 90's. The flipping cowards.

  • @spiderguy369

"They also, literally, never say die. They say die in tons of 70`s animated.." You`re just described just the most of nowadays Hollywood movies and proved that they has no enough the balls going to further and stick in the PG-13 rating etc.

  • 4:36 is the best part

  • He was allowed to kick, just not punch.

  • The 'age defying' vulture ep was an adaptation of Amazing Spider-Man # 387 wherein Vulture (Adrian Tooms) creates a device that steals youth from people and makes him younger. Also, The Spot ep adapts Spectacular Spider-Man # 98. The '90's series did a good job adapting existing stories, and the changes made to them were sensible for the most part.

  • Hahaaha so annoying how they used the same footage over, and over again..

  • This show really hated old people. Silvermane? He wanted to get eternal youth. Vulture? He sucked youth from people. Why not just let the villains be old?

  • SHOCKERRRRRRRR!!!!!

    TRECHERRRYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!

  • My biggest problem with this incarnation of Spider-man was the design for Peter Parker. In the comics (and the movie) he was small and sinewy, passing for skinny and wimpy in civilian life, whereas this version he looks like a bulky, ripped up quarter back.

Mind you, if you want to seed a really wide of the mark version of Spidey, check out the TV series from the 70s; No familiar super villians, no Uncle Ben and Aunt May was played by a man!

  • that same stock footage of spider-man running in a lab was in the spider-vulture episode i saw recently and they used it twice... lwals :3

  • What bugged me the most was

    Spider-Man: "My spider-sense is tingling ... UGH!!!"

Also the sheer number of times we've heard Spidey say "UGH!!!".

  • 1:52 So friggin hilarious. lmao

  • 8:00. Wow. Goblin's glider IS HUGE

  • 7:33 DEAR GOD! How did they fuck up his eyes so bad?!

  • @BalmungSama0 What the f**k?! Did no one catch that?!

  • how about most of the fight scenes were throws and grapples?

  • Hey,Spider-Man TAS got some things right. Mark Hamill as the Hobgoblin,Venom and Carnage, CDB getting jokes right(though not the emotional scenes)David Hayter as Captain America and uhmm that's about it

  • I don't particularly like this show, because it has terrible plot continuity..Seriously the Hobgoblin before Green Goblin? And also get this, Venom is introduced way way to early in the series. Venom should always come along time after all the other villians, and they put him in season 1, way before GG. Even before HG! Come on! Why cant they just put him in season 3? Is it just because Venom is really popular and they think fans dont want to wait very long to see him? What a load of rubbish!

  • Plasma dis, plasma dat, i got tired of hearing that word.

  • I don't hate this show, but I'm getting sick of seeing people bash SSM for reasons like "poor kiddie animation" while saying how "much better the 90s show was". I grew with TAS and it introduced me to Spidey's world, but when fans start bashing SSM for no reason, other than to apparently make TAS show look better, I want to join in with the "90s sucks" crowd.

    Continued in next comment.

  • I've started following the SSM fandom ever since it was announced that Weisman was in charge and even before the show started I've seen people hating it just because it wasn't the old one. Having to endure 3 years of that will make anyone hate the 90s show just purely for defensive reasons. I can't watch most of the episodes of 90s show without flinching at least once. I don't want to turn into a rabid 90s hater but having to defend the show against those fans is turning me into one.

  • Micheal Bay probably got his explosion fetish from this series

  • Yeah it had its awkward moments but its still 100x better than half the shit on TV nowadays

  • Pause at 1:21. You see Dr. Connors. That's why you should'nt use stock footage for battles!

  • Mary Jane had a terrible fashion sense and was obnoxious (so was Harry). Her aunt was an insufferable old bag. I think my favorite part of the series was Flash Thompson and Deb Whitman those two had actual character development, so did Felicia Hardy. It was nice to see it in the supporting case in the old show, TSSM perfected it though. I liked TSSM better but I still like SpideyTAS. It was pretty hokey at times but some parts were great. Some not so much but it had its charm.

  • SPidey: SHOCKEEEEEEEEEEEEEER!!!!!!!!!! YOU CAN'T ESCAPE MEEEEE!! I'LL CHASE YOU TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH!!!!!!!

    You :O

Oh shut up. Oh PLEASE just shut up. Shut up! Shut up!! SHUT UP!! SHUT UP YOU OLD WITCH!!!

We never got Sandman but we got him. Tada! The Spot!

    Green Goblin: Exceeelent! Exceelent!

    O.o TEERRIBLEE! TEERRIBLEEE!

All of the highlights for me! XD

  • I swear, no matter how stupid OMD was, it's NOTHING compared to MJ being a clone...

...Come to think of it, Semper was the Joey Q of his day

  • Peter: Mary Jane will you marry me?

    *Mary Jane jumps off cliff*

I guess that's one way to say no...

You should have got some of that Venom/Carnage working for Dormammu crap.

  • lol Spider-man's fat in this cartoon

  • @murali395 Dude. He was using the clips from the Spectacular Spiderman to make fun of the old one.

  • Though I know what you mean about a lot of these, this show is still good, and it was amazing for its time and given the stupid censors that they gave in too. Things like Osborne, yes he was pathetic, but that was a good thing in that it made his transformation into the Goblin fantastic, it turned him into everything he should be, the harsh... so and so that he is. I admit Seasons 4 and the first half of 5 were kinda poor, but the rest of it was great, minus the Spot.

  • Well, it didn't bother me so much. The first seasons were the best, but then it became worse and worse. I enjoyed more the clone saga of this show. The story arc six forgotten warriors was just dumb, especially the russian electro.

But what I really enjoyed most was the six arm saga. I hope Spectacular Spiddy get a similar arc too.

  • Is it just me, or did he yell out MARY JANE!!!! alot?

  • No duh. I put in there so it could mock the 90s show. Don't you get it? Spectacular's Osborn says "enough!" to the 90s Osborn who complains too much.

  • All that Goblin business was about the Hobgoblin being BEFORE The Green Goblin right?

  • No that's Mary Jane.

  • @TheSpectacularSpidey He means that it was Gwen who Died at that part in the comics.

  • I heard the bullets had to be 'lasers' cuz it'st oo violent to have real bullet sounds 0o.

Thing that bugged me is he's tooooo muscular to be flexible.

  • Osborn wasn't whiner all the time - in few episodes (Hobgoblin, Spider-slayer) he was like his comic book counterpart. And for me Octavius was real good - maybe not ideal, but very good (voice and design).

  • Doc Ock is not German. He was born and raised in the Bronx. Why would he have an accent like that. And why would he be a body builder?

  • comics dont say nothing about doc ock from da bronx, and in this cartoon they just say hes a brilliant scientist, no more, so theres no inconsistency

  • @neo1072 Yes, the comics do say he's from the Bronx, I know because I have those comics.

  • @GregXB2 I agree. He's a scientist who was incredibly obsessive about his research. Other than his tentacles, he should be a complete wimp like in the comic.

  • This show would have been better if:

    1. No Censorship

    2. Better Budget

    3. Sandman appearance

    4. Have Green Goblin show up before Hobgoblin

    5. Limited number of superhero crossovers

    6. Marvel Bankruptcy that got this show cancelled.

    Anyway good video

  • Comment removed

  • @Grim190Reaper Yeah ok so shitaclular is better

  • One of my gripes was the overuse of Morbius. Why was he treated like a major villain? He took up way too many episodes. I mean, look at the other villains we could have - and I think that we should have - seen more of instead of Morbius.

Norman Osborn's Green Goblin got three mere episodes against Spider-Man before he went into limbo. Venom got three episodes (or four, if you count his shadowy cameo at the end of "The Alien Costume, part 2")

    CONTINUED NEXT POST

  • Poor Mysterio only got four episodes (and was killed off, which sucked). Vulture only appears in three episodes, before joining the Insidious Six near the end of the series. Hobgoblin only got five episodes, before getting arrested and never seen again. Rhino and Shocker only appeared in the Venom saga, then the Insidous Six episodes, and never again until near the end of the series.

We saw more of Morbius than any of those guys. That's just plain wrong.

  • The thing that i really hated most about this show was Man-Spider. I've never liked the idea of seeing my favorite superhero turn into a Monster. The censors the show thought that the word sinister would have been to scary for kids but having Spider-Man turn into a Spider monster that pukes acid was fine apparantly

  • Hehe, you've been on IMDb, haven't you? ;)

  • I sure have.

  • Naw, I just started looking old episodes to kill time. IMBd is not exactly my favourite place to spend time. Get's downright depressing if you're in the wrong mood.

  • I know right? I hate that place. It's full of trolls and morons.

But I have to admit, watching TAS(just the first 3 seasons) gives me a lot of good memories.

  • I guess there's just no cure for being able to watch something the same way you did as a kid.

  • Wow, this is wierd. When did all the backlash to TAS start? I mean, I'll admit that it had some censorship issues, but still, compared to most of the series (barring Batman, which had no such censorship problems) and comics of its time, it was pretty damn good.

  • It probably started since The Spectacular Spider-Man started.

  • No it wasn't. That is where the backlash was coming from.

  • I love this show! I know it is different from the comics, but everyone knows that a tv show is gonna be different than the comics.

  • The night Maaary Janeeee fell into a portal. Talk about raping one of the best Spider-Man story lines ever (The night Gwen stacy Died)

  • Excellent! Excellent!- the Simpsons xD. O.o

"Old witch- shut up, shut up SHUT UP!"

    Hahaha! Perfect pics!

  • OK Morbius-is there some kind of hidden joke that Felicia looks like Buffy?

Mary Jane-It didn'y happen on screen but in the series finally Madam Web said they were going to find the real Mary Jane.

    SIlvermane Baby-Damn tablet of time.

Wasn't that Nick Fury guy in "True Lies"?

  • it was still an awesome show

  • I love this show! I enjoy Spectacular Spider-man, and I think Josh Keaton is a great Spidey, but Christopher Barnes and TAS were much better, in my opinion.

  • Only for retarded flipper babies was TAS better.

  • 90's Norman Osborn cries and runs away from Vulture like a little bitch. Spectacular Osborn while being held 100 stories up in the air by Vulture says ''I called you a buzzard, you can't evan get the name right''

  • This is *Norman Osborn* we're talking about. Not any one of us.

  • @EliteF50 The guy was a snivelling coward. For some people running and crying llike a btch is realistic, and for others standing your ground and not showing fear is. It all depends on who the person is. The problem was Norman in TAS was just annoying.

You're one of the richest men in the world, a brilliant scientists and the GREEN GOBLIN! How did you do so much without any balls?

  • @BalmungSama0 I like the fact the the coward was not a ROBOT!

  • @marnerbroman huh?

  • @BalmungSama0 SSM Norman had no emotions TAS was more human and actuly care for Harry before he changed.

  • @marnerbroman Wow, you couldn't even understand the subtle emotions the actor portrayed. While he was always dominating, he had 4 main personas as Norman; the boss, the one he uses while just insulting someone (haven't come up with a name yet), the father and the criminal scientist. He ranged. He was at times happy, at times angry, and at times indifferent. His voice was monotone, but he still got those emotions through. And the finale really showed his true self.

  • @marnerbroman This actor is a snivelling coward. he terrorized NYC? Fuck that. He can barely keep from wetting himself. He's suposed to be a captain of industry, a heavy hitter in the underworld, and a supervillain. SSM captures all of these perfectly. TAS failed in every last one.

  • @BalmungSama0 But both Goblins were crazy and that all that matters to me.

  • @marnerbroman ...Have you heard the Goblin in TAS? His voice sounds like some child molester, and the acting is more flamboyant than a San Fran Pride rally.

  • @BalmungSama0 with that logic SSM Goblin sounds like a rapist, they both have that crazy inhuman voice that makes them sound so evil. I like both odf the mfor different reasons though SSM was more evil.

  • @marnerbroman SSm sounds like he's psychotic. He's a sprite. TAS's just isn't threatening. It sounds more ridiculous than threatening. SSM's voice is threatening, but at the same time has fantastic acting and really is a voice you love to hear.

  • @EliteF50 If anything Spectacular is more realistic, because I jsut don't see a coward who's too afraid to take chances or stand his ground making it so far in the corporate world.

  • At 0:55 I was starting to swear! Geez turn it off!! Great compilation!

  • "Seriously, did Michael Bay direct this intro?"

    I lol'd! XD

  • Worst part is Kingpin would always be the main antagonist that and they exaggerated his strength a bit much.

  • 90s Norman screams and whines like a baby

    Spectacular Norman: Enough!

  • Spectacular kicks 90's censorship to the balls!

Doc Ock: "Rhino, you won the coin toss. Will you crush his skull or simply IMPALE his heart on your horn?"

    That's dark. :D

  • ok three things

    1. did spidey eva save at the of this

    2. did hydro man make a cameo in the spectular verson

    and 3. ''goblin robo warrior''............yea -_-

  • @Hessualunlocked

    yes, yes he did

  • lol yea i meant mary jane but 0:16 to 0:58 was pretty much most of the whole show lol every ep had explosives

  • the green goblin in spectcular is acts very similar to the joker, and the 90's hob goblin has the same voice as the joker

are future goblins going to run into this too

  • @SONICVSMARIOX Considering that's how Stan Lee and Steve Ditko wrote the Green Gobin, maybe you should ask them about it.

  • ok i'll ask stan about that next time i see him

  • 8:59 "good work smith, quickly, change my daiper" lol XD

  • wow landon= two face ripoff

the voice of spiderman was born in maine

    replay animation

    cencorship(more like cencorshit)

    bottom line gets a 7/10
