It's nice to see Sheryl take the risk of performing without her guitar... I think it's a sign of her personal growth and ongoing willingness to take risks. And yet... her guitar (no matter whether bass, electric rhythm, or acoustic) is a symbol of her commitment to being a musician and a producer, and also how her craft has been a saving focus in her life. If you look at the "My Favorite Mistake" video, her bass is her only protection against the torture of love.
