I drove alone for 6 hrs across the heart of Texas to see these cars. The 2J fan car was in England at Goodwood. But the others were magical. Then it was 6 hrs back.
The 2H was supposed to have raced in '68, but was not ready in time, so an updated 2G was used. The 2H was driven in '69 by John Surtees. The car was originally a coupe, but Surtees protested and the car was reconfigured. It had a De Dion rear axle and ultimately ran with a humongous wing at Laguna Seca. Personally, I loved the 2H and was impressed by Jim's emphasis on low aero drag for the design.
Jim Hall . Legend. He built cars which were revolutionary, and was the Yanks answer to Chunky Chapman. I never saw more gorgeous cars than Chaparrals, and didn't Surtees race this car?
