@SNSDxJanneke Morning Musume was formed in 1997, but obviously the group hasn't had all the same members since 1997. To keep things fresh, the group goes through continuous cycle of auditions and graduations.

At the time of this video in late 2002, the group consisted of members from the First, Second, Fourth, and Fifth Generations.

Today, in late 2010, the group consists of members from the Fifth, Sixth, and Eighth Generations, and they're in the middle of the Ninth Generation auditions.

Usually when they graduate, a lot of the time they stay in H!P but as a single unit, I know Fujimoto Miki had a CD (called Miki 1), and Nakazawa Yuko, Abe Natsumi, and Goto Maki all were single acts after leaving morning musume.

As for the ones that left though, Konno Asami, Iida Kaori, Yaguchi Mari, Nono, Aibon, Yoshizawa, Ogawa Makoto, Yasuda, Abe Natsumi, and Ishikawa Rika

Tsunku decides everything. Who leaves, gets accepted and who graduates. The ones that have permanently left Hello Project are in most cases inactive/retired now. Maki Goto, Abe Natsumi, Iichi Sayaki (married with I think 3 kids), and a bunch of the others, have left H!P and aren't singing much these days. Aya Matsuura also just graduated from the project.

Some of them are put into groups outside of H!P though. Yoshizawa Hitomi and Ishikawa Rika make up the group Hangry&Angry, but (cont.)

(con't) for the most part they leave morningmusume when they are deemed too old, or tsunku wants to do something new with them, they quit, or are fired. I know Maki Goto quit because of her brother being flamed on the news (even though he broke into a house...) Other reasons: Kago was caught smoking, was suspended then was seen with an older guy (38), and fired. I'm sad about Yaguchi, but as far as i know, she isn't singing anymore either. Neither is Miki, she got married last year.

Dunno. I wouldn't. No they aren't allowed to have boyfriends while in MM or berryz, or c-ute or any other H!P group really. But Yaguchi resigned (which is why she didn't get a graduation ceremony) after she was seen with Oguri Shun (a male actor), her boyfriend at the time. She resigned from MM because of the "bad image not suiting an idol," but pursued a solo career for a bit. I know there was a single, "Seishun Boku," but I don't think that there was much else.

Mari Yaguchi has become extremely popular as TV personality. (In fact, "Seishun Boku" came from her being a regular on "Hexagon".) She's arguably more famous now than she ever was in Morning Musume, where even with her distinctive look and personality, she was still just one among many.

Hello! Project is a large company of idol groups and soloists. Within H!P there are permanent groups like Morning Musume, Berryz Koubou, and C-ute, but the members of those groups are also periodically "shuffled" into new units for special projects. Sometimes they're one-shots, and sometimes they continue for a few years.

Happy 7 was a one-shot shuffle group in the summer of 2002. Four of the members were from Morning Musume, and the other three were drawn from the rest of H!P.
