To those idiots saying Moore is Capitalistic in profiting from this movie, the answer is simple - Capitalism doesn't prevent you from profiting by using legal means. Moore is talking about using capitalism as a cover for Corruption. Don't know why some people don't understand things this simple.
He isn't talking about small businesses when he makes that statement. He's referring to the large institutions that will maximize profits at any cost not matter how immoral.
If Moore doesn't mind capitalism without corruption, why didn't he call the film "corruption and capitalism: a love story"? I think you know why: Moore doesn't believe capitalism is an ethical system no matter what. Instead he prefers socialism, which he is very forthcoming about.
Michael Moore, try living in an underdeveloped communist country, see if you like it!. I'm sure your Okay with communism if your living in a capitalist country, where you actually have the power to decide.
Todays Crony Corporatism is NOT Fee Market Capitalism.
When the Crony Corporatist's (Keynesian) Central Planning fails, Progressives blame the free market which is NOT free due to all the regulation and central planning.
Then the Crony Corporatists use their political influence to take MORE taxpayer money in the form of "Bailouts" and "loans".
This "Progressive" trend can (and will) lead us into Marxism!
BTW, Capitalists are YOU & ME who invest OUR SAVINGS in order to turn a profit.
Look; We have come to a cress road. Either we expand into a moral, civilized culture & society. Or, we fall into a miserable, demoralized, enslaved society owned & run by insane dictatorships. It is you & your reality & understanding on how to handle this situation that will determine our future! Do you want FREEDOM or do you want to be a SLAVE? Now, get educated on how to handled the situation. YouTube: LaRouche Warning Oct. 12 is a bankruptcy deadline. The solution is ready Now !
Now that would be capitalistic. I wonder if Moore is aware of the fact that the concept of a central bank and the keynesian doctrine it's built upon is socialistic?
So should people be able to sue each other for ridiculous sums of money? In some instances I would say "yes", so insurance against some things is needed, and the marketplace will provide those services. I am by no means on the side of insurance companies as many on the left paint conservatives to be. You have a bit of misplaced faith in the government not looking out for it's own interests like the capitalists. It's harder to catch crooks in Washington because they are "the law".
4) Capitalism is used to build EMPIRES. In America, We don't like imperialism or imperial classes. We don't bow to queens! What did the evil little Queen of Buckingham palace who gets hauled around in a golden carriage ever produce of real value to others in exchange for all her wealth? Did she really earn that wealth? What about Bernie Madoff ? We must return to the American System of economy! Google: LaRouche on the American Sysytem of economics
3) But, what did he produce of real value to others in exchange for the profit he made? The shareholder does the same thing. The Capitalist is a parasite that feeds of the production of others without having to produce anything of real value himself. He is a drag in the economy & sucks money out of the economy like a tick attaches to a healthy horse. He gets a free lunch. A Capitalist is BAD for any economy. Capitalism is not the American system of economy.
2) Under the real American system of economy, real wealth is measured on ones ability to manufacture & produce something. But, the Capitalist has found a way to obtain money without having to produce or manufacture anything of real value to others. He just makes his money make more money. A privet banker does the same thing. He loans you $1000. You work & produce your ass off & pay him back $1,150. He profits $150 off your ability to produce.
1) Capitalism violates the purpose for money. There are products & services we need & desire & must have in order to survive well as a culture & Nation. We produce a verity of products & use money as the medium of exchange to obtain those different products. THAT IS THE ONLY PURPOSE FOR MONEY! It's just paper! It has no other real value or purpose. If you want more money, you must be able to CREATE & MANUFACTURE something of real value to people.
SO WHAT IF MM IS RICH!!! NO ONE IS FORCING YOU OR ANYONE ELSE TO BUY MOVIE TICKETS, IF YOU DO NOT WANT HIM TO HAVE YOUR MONEY THEN DON'T GIVE IT TO HIM......
Being rich and not wanting to help his fellow man would make him out of tune. There's nothing wrong with prospering as long as it's gained by helping others instead of hurting. College is guilty of making so much money by educating people. Students graduate with a huge tuition to repay. The health care system hurts people by denying claims, drug companies by releasing drugs to public lacking research and credit card companies by outrageous fees. Your arguement is valid, just misdirected.
True but he is sensationalizing something that he does not ever experience. I just feel that he needs to take a more liberal approach to his findings rather than slanting it one way.
Re the challenge at end of the film. Whatever happens don't give up making films! I'd like to see people protesting outside Wall street and bringing it down like they did the Berlin Wall ( with blackberrys and briefcases being crushed) but I don't see that happening. People have got to think theres something better on the other side. In terms of doing something pro-active to stop the criminality and corruption you'd have thought even those on the 'right' would be in favour of that.
Only a moron would want more of what killed our economy. Socialism is the only way to save us from Wall Street. Anyone who disagrees is a minion of Wall Street and the Illuminati.
the reason he is going to quit filmmaking is because he wants to avoid being called a hypocrite. He doesn't want people to realize he lives in a fancy home, and that capitalism made him the filmmaker he is. The love story is between it an him, and it seems to be a love hate type thing, or a secret romance.
He could have used my "No ORdinary Love' for his soundtrack
for his No Ordinary Romance. I love people who fight capitalism and consumerism.
Oprah is a huge offender in all of that crap.
She thinks she's so smart yet she's got her audience like zombie shoppers...The oceans, the animals and all the earth suffer from this corporate greed. The Corporation is a great film too. GO MICHAEL!!!!! Can't wait to watch it.
while we argue about who did it, our kids are being brought up clueless on how to survive in a very scary world - most will have no trade or skill and no clue where to aim or go in life, most jobs left and what few are here we fight over. the fate of other countries we laughed at is now ours

Horse shit. Washington did it. Michael Moore is nothing but a loser propagandist. But he'll make millions from his backers with the carbon credit con game in their pockets.
Under the preamble of our constitution, our federal government MUST act to protect the people of the U.S. The Nation is bankrupt & Wall Street did it! The privet banking interests are looting us through bailouts! If we put the Financial system through Bankruptcy, we can get our bailout money back. We were swindled by Wall Street! Bankruptcy will expose their crimes. That's what FDR did. That's what LaRouche wants to do. YouYube: LaRouche EMERGENCY ADDRESS TO US PRESIDENT
Whats up with Michael Moore looking like he rolled out of bed without looking in the mirror. You would think with all this success you could afford a decent haircut. His documentaries are deff. interesting don't get me wrong, I just think he should appear less like slop.
About a page or so back I said I am in favor of common sense regulation, and believe that some is both needed and constitutional under the commerce clause. Anarchy is a total bad word. Anarchy is almost as over used as socialism. You can't have anarchy when you have collective police, roads, schools, military, but you can have socialism. Nice attempt at a red herring. We have incremental real socialism NOW. There are no signs of anarchy and TONS of regulations. Fail.
go pick up a dictionary. there you will find the definition of fascism. your definition contradicts itself. fascism is: corporate control of government, you moron. for the sake of your i.q., stop watching glenn beck, you inbred retard.
In practice it's more of a marriage between government and corporate interests. But that's just a quote from Mussolini, a prominent fascist... I hate Glenn Beck, don't try to change the subject because you don't like the facts. Liberals aren't the only ones who have read rules for radicals, so try that shit at an AFL-CIO rally...
Thanks for the information on Hobbes; I will have to look him up.
I read about the US Supreme Court Justice on his deathbed while this went on in his name -- I couldn't sleep for days, I was so angry. And the book isn't in any library in all of Chicagoland. Had to do a video to get the angst out of my system. I suppose more of the same with Hobbes, but I must know. Thanks again.
Used against him by proponents OF the Second Bank of America. Lobbyists and corporate shills are not a new thing my dear friend. Are you really a silly Keynesian central bank cheerleader?? Disqualified! We don't accept fairy tale economics in the real world.. The only reason Keynesianism worked in the 1940s was because of a world war and our vast manufacturing base. We are not going to repay central banking debts by selling latte's and preparing people's taxes. We need a production base...
I have been reading about political figures since 1996 when I became politically active. I started out left wing, and Marx was my political god. As I grew older I realized his views were noble, but Utopian and naive. I'm not saying capitalism is perfect, but I prefer that set of chains to your chains. You can't have a harmonious collectivist society without authoritarianism. I will take dog eat dog capitalism over nanny statism and big brother any day of the week.
Furthermore if you think that its the government which is supposed to represent its people, that is corrupt, I ask you: who corrupted them? Could it be that when a handful of people get most of the wealth of a country on the backs of the labor created by its citizens, these rich fucks won't use their power and influence to corrupt the government to allow them to make even more money? The government is not the problem here, it is unimaginable wealth concentration, greed and power.
Libertarians are either naive, or just plain greedy. There is no reason for anyone to make obscene amounts of money (with uncontrolled "laissez faire" capitalism). Sure we should have individual freedoms, but that's not the only factor that drives humans, we also live in society and have other values besides self-interest. Where does love, sharing, compassion, selflessness come to play in a purely capitalist system? There is just no room for any of it - in fact those values brake the system.
Free Market Capitalism/Globalization has created a immoral bogee dog materialistic world that feels MONEY & PROFIT is the only thing that matters. The world is now rebelling against it. Let's return to the Hamilton American System of Economy with lot's of opportunity for small business entrepreneurs, productive work, well paid workers & solid risk free investments. We don't need Wall Street & privet international bankers! YouTube: LaRouche Webcast Excerpt: A Monetary vs Credit System
that's interesting. i wasn't aware that the definition of "patriot" meant: fascist whore.
you need an education beyond the "readers digest" version of american history they taught you in highschool, sonny boy. claiming to be a patriot while disrespecting the man who is trying to educate you on the criminal activity that is destroying the nation you supposedly "love"? ...you conservatives are an ignorant plague on this country.
Umm fuck you, fascism is a corporate welfare state which I oppose and your Obama supports. Your ignorance is glaring. I never cuss on youtube, but you are just unbelievable. I'm not even a conservative, you fools think everyone who knows about economics is a right wing radical. I'm not even republican per se, I just have to side with them to keep you freaks out of my wallet, and out of my life. But, at least they can add. Fairy tale leftist economics has to be done in theory alone...
first of all, you obviously know nothing about what fascism is, or you would acknowledge the fact that what we have is fascism. you're taking it in the ass from the very people you are defending with your mis-information. either that or you really believe that liberals are out to take your money. i hope your insurance carrier doesn't try to deny you that vital operation you'll need in the future with a "pre-existing condition" claim...all that money you've paid, to get fucked like that?
I think all Americans need a kick in the pants to get up off of their couches and do something. It looks like a great film and I can't wait to see it. Thanks Mike!
The Capitalist & entrepreneur are two different things. The Entrepreneur raises money, hires workers, manages his business & builds his business. He PRODUCED & EARNED his wealth. But, the parasitic Capitalist shareholder did not produce a thing. He called his broker & said "make my money make more money". He takes profit away from the productive entrepreneur & worker. Profit that should have gone to them. He's a parasite & drag in the economy. YouTube: LPACTV Credit vs Monetary Systems
Capitalism will prevail. Socialism only lasts a generation or two. Then THE COMMON PEOPLE revolt from socialism and hang/burn all of the bloody socialists. It's just a different type of Oligarchy, and you liars know it, or are too Utopian to see how it actually shakes out in the end. It's not some cutting edge idea. It has failed a bunch of times and everywhere it's still hanging on you have a ruling elite and less individual freedom. You can't see the forest from the trees.
You seem to confuse the concept of capitalism with socialism. Capitalism only lasts a generation or two. Then The COMMON PEOPLE revolt from capitalism and hang/burn all of the bloody capitalists. Capitalism has failed a bunch of times and everywhere it's still hanging on you have a ruling elite and less individual freedom...
Remember the difference between capitalism and socialism. Capitalism starts with the letter "C" and socialism starts with the letter "S".
I went through college working and taking out student loans. The government guaranteed the student loans and sold them to private investors - capitalists who made a profit on them without any risk. I think the workers should take every cent of the trillions of dollars they have stolen through student and other loans. I know they have wasted most of it through whoring and cocaine, but whatever they have squirreled away in their Swiss accounts should be taken and distributed among the workers.
LOL, well at least we agree that corporate welfare helps no one. By the way those guys aren't capitalists. Once the capitalist starts using the gov't to achieve it's end, like Bush & Obama proudly allow(ed) they CEASE BEING CAPITALIST and become corporatists, which is fascism. You have a lot of definitions to learn. So yes, that fascist should return that money, but he's not a capitalist.
SO, after to take the owners' money and distribute it to his workers, who makes the next big deal that produces the next wave of business? Average Joe? He's going to play 18 holes of golf with the owner of a Japanese company, and convince him to do business?? Sorry to break this to you but he lacks the education required. Socialists are even more short sighted than fascists. It's all about give us stuff now, screw the means of production...
When you won, you divided the profits amongst you, and when you lost, you charged it to the Bank. You tell me that if I take the deposits from the Bank and annul its charter I shall ruin ten thousand families. That may be true, gentlemen, but that is your sin! Should I let you go on, you will ruin fifty thousand families, and that would be my sin! You are a den of vipers and thieves. I have determined to rout you out and, by the Eternal, (bringing his fist down on the table) I will rout you out
The notion that banks privatize profits and socialize losses dates at least to the 19th century, as in this 1834 quote of Andrew Jackson:
I too have been a close observer of the doings of the Bank of the United States. I have had men watching you for a long time, and am convinced that you have used the funds of the bank to speculate in the breadstuffs of the country.
Andrew Jackson is almost exactly like a modern day Libertarian. I oppose the banker bailouts more than you do, so your entire diatribe is weak. Yes, US presidents are dumb, along with most gov't officials. Why do you want to give them any power?
What I'm talking about is different, in this context, and since you didn't reference any context in your reply, I was unaware that you where specifically pointing to an issue, rather than broadly talking capitalism vs socialism/fascism.
If you are talking about the loan officer making money off of the student loans, I said he was a better businessman than average joe, BUT I then went on to call him a fascist for making money off of taxpayers. There is a huge distinction between the capitalist that produces, and the corporate welfare fascist who just takes from the taxpayer.

Where is the rebellion to socialism in socialist countries? There is none because they like it. Capatialism only works when it is regulated and made to enrich the rich and the poor at the expense of the super wealthy.
Socialism = state run media, and seizure of property -- No matter how you want to spin it. Screw personal liberties, let's all share misery. No thanks. You won't win, we're well armed both intellectually and where it counts when you send your goons to take my meager piles of booty. I'm not rich, or republican - it's the principle of using gov't sanction aggression. I think it is so much worse than private industry screwing people. Why? Because it can be justified by morons who trust the state.
That is not socislism, you are describing. It is communism. There is a difference. Fascism is corporatism. Hidden under a veil of corporated controlled media and reglion. It is supressing labor. It is enforced by unlimited power to police, superamce of the military use of homeland security and torture. WHat was the last country to use the word homeland? That's right NAZI GERMANY!! It is controlled with fraudlent elections. That is fascism as defined by Louis britt and Benito_Mussolini.
Semantics... The socialism you talk about that's free of corruption hasn't materialized for large populations EVER, and I firmly believe human nature will prevent it from morphing into any other form than what we've already seen, which historically all started out as socialist workers movements. The corporations did not control the gov in Italy, The gov controlled corps and subsequently the populace. Socialism is a broad term, but I understand you have to defend your worldview/gateway to fascism
Stalin is a communist not a fascist. I remember discussing communism with some move on friends. They said that it is right wing socialism or dictatorial socialism . Left wing socialism is Bernie sanders scandevian style socialism or democratic.
Well, yes & no. The terms are vaguely defined so there are differing interpretations of them, but here's how I see it:
Regardless of defining socialism vs communism, Stalin had a -rich- ruling elite so couldn't truly be either. I would say that Stalin was a fascist pretending to be a communist because he took power by hijacking a communist revolution. Communism/socialism has issues, but totalitarianism isn't inherently one (not that you could tell from the past communist revolutions...)
In this world, might makes right and all that's being proposed by MM is that the people who actually do the jobs that makes the creation of value possible should be more equitiably rewarded for that work. Wall Street/Bay Street doesn't DO fair....it'll just take everything it can get at whoever's expense; fair or no fair. It's time to fight for what's right, right NOW!!
no, hes here to show another view. The best leaders would be straight talkers, no bull shitter, smart and able to see from all perspectives and make decisions with reason and logic, if they are athiest that would be cool for once lol
The movie looks good but Wall Street isn't to blame. It's the gov who bailed them out. MM should make a film about the cause of the symptoms he documents: ROTHSCHILD'S! They are the puppet-masters who control gov and finance and industry and steal natural resources from the 3rd world and rape us with our own Federal Reserve (central) Bank which is no more "federal" than Federal Express.
I love the fact that Michael is using the term "Capitalism". The last few years the right wing has been using the term "Socialism" to describe how evil and terrible it is to have free health care, the government will control everything etc (which is not true at all). The right wing have somehow build up a paradigm that puts capitalism vs socialism. Let's focus a bit on the ugly sites of capitalism instead for a minute. That's a good idea.
Yeah, I couldn't agree more. Even the most intelligent and well spoken capitalists/anarchists on YouTube lack basic knowledge on how the European economies operate, for instance. It's all +/- , capitalism/socialism.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not against capitalism. But I believe in regulated Capitalism. Like the "Social" democracies there is in the country where you are from, and where I'm from. I'm sick and tired of hearing primarily right wing rednecks throwing around terms don't have a clue about. The technique reminds me a bit of the terror-alert.
Whenever someone tries to say something, they use the word as a weapon and everyone gets scared.
It has, when we have let it work. Read about Austrian Business Cycle, that's explains all of this.
Government creates the imbalances, they are responsible for the boom-bust cycle. The free market would regulate itself out of such a thing if we just let it.
I'm not quite certain what Michael Moore would like me to do. I wrote to Cong. Wexler about the bailout and even suggested a better plan but it didn't do anything. The suggestion was to create fifty new US banks owned by the taxpayers with each American citizen getting an equal share. The Banks would start giving loans and in ten years those banks could then be bought by a private interests. The American people could then sell back those shares if they wanted. An idea from Khanacademy.
I even donated $50.00 to Cong. Wexler to make certain that he'd at least read the email. This was before the second vote was taken. I don't blame you Mr. Moore for I feel the same but I don't know what more we can do?
There's nothing wrong with greed. Greed is great because with greed comes caution, the problem is when you're backed by someone with limitless pockets - like the FED, then you don't have to care if you lose.
capitalism is ok except when the distribution of wealth gets out of wack......im all for capitalism but its not cool when the top 2% own more than the bottom 90. call me crazy
Dude, there are more types of government than capitalism or communism. Norway is ranked in the top twenty happiest nations and it is a socialist nation. A Parliamentary is a good government type that keeps its people happy as well. Marxism was said to be a good type of government, but then Stalin took control of Russia and made it a communist nation. All types of governments have something good in them, but eventually, an elite group tries to take over and the people revolt against it.
Err.. Im pretty sure Norway is capitalism, I live in Scandinavia. Of course it depends on what you call socialism, but with slighter higher tax rates and big oil reserves, it's still a capitalistic country.
We should remember that capitalism had an huge part when western civilizations developed. It has brought us here, but nowadays Usa's capitalism is not really "fair play" or capitalism at all.
No, the capitalist free market extreme works great. Whenever we move towards it we see greater growth and prosperity, so it stands to reason that this is true to a larger degree.
Tbh romeomd25 the FED stopped making change out of precious metals a long time ago. They are made out of zinc now,so they don't make any real money anymore=[
One way is to say goodbye to your bank and move to a credit union. Anyone can join credit union nowadays, but most don't realize it. Interest rates are generally higher, fees are generally lower and because they are smaller, they tend to have fewer staff changes and treat you much better once they get to know you. There are a number of search tools to find a credit union for you online. Say bye to your bank.. I am.
I left a credit union with all sorts of nickle and dime fees, they even charged me a fee to close my account! Never again. There are plenty of banks I can do my banking with no fees.
Moore gets the economic story right. How is it that Moore's father could buy a house and raise a family on the income of one auto worker, and have a pension for his retirement? This is not possible today? The answer is not complicated: in the first half of the post-War era, employees shared in the gains from productivity growth; since 1973, most of them have hardly done so at all. Reagan's roll back of labor relations brought about the most massive upward redistribution of income in US history
Moore gets his facts and numbers right. In Moore's last documentary, "Sicko" - which was quite careful with the facts - drew attacks from CNN and a smear campaign from the insurance industry. Both attempted - unsuccessfully - to impugn its accuracy. Wendell Potter, former vice president of corporate communications for CIGNA and the author of several memos attempting to discredit "Sicko," recently admitted to Bill Moyers on camera that Moore "hit the nail on the head with his movie."
I've not yet seen "Sicko" (I really want to, but missed it the one day it showed in our town because I had to work late), but I know from experience with "Bowling for Columbine" that Moore does NOT always get his facts and numbers right.
Well, TECHNICALLY right, but willfully and maliciously deceptively so. Sort of like when Rush Limbaugh says, "According to the U.S. Forestry Service, the USA has TWICE as many acres of forest today that it did when the Declaration of Independence was signed!"
In Rush's case, the deception is that the USA has TEN TIMES the acreage now than it did when the Declaration was signed (13 colonies). Rush knows this well. He deliberately and carefully words that claim. He NEVER says, "the land covered by the USA today [or then]."
So, if we have 10× the land but only 2× the forest now, that's roughly a 5× NET LOSS of forest!
Rush thus TECHNICALLY tells the truth, but in a WILFULLY DECEPTIVE way that conveys the 180° DIAMETRIC OPPOSITE of the truth.
Well, Moore has done the same sort of "tell the technical truth but be willfuly, deliberately, maliciously deceptive and convey the 180° diametric opposite of the truth" things MANY times in "Bowling for Columbine." And yes, he has outright LIED a few times in and about that film. I've pointed out several of them (complete with time points to freeze frame on so you can see for yourself) in several threads on that film.
Thank you Mike for another outstanding documentary. I believe Americans need to stop being slaves to their credit scores and reputations. We are now living in times where silence is really a form of violence. People should bank with either a credit union or an Islamic bank.
writing or calling my political representatives seems so useless...voting seems useless...signing petitions and/or protesting seems useless...what do we DO?
Americans aren't going to do anything. They are lazy. They deserve the crisis they are receiving. Michael Moore will no longer be making any more films because of it. Sad and embarrassing. We're through. The end.
I hate to agree with you but you're right. We are not only lazy, we are all too divided. Political, religious, they have us right where there want us. Divided. America was an illusion of success because other governments around the world were willing to use their citizens as our slaves so we could consume, consume, consume cheap products. If you do simple math, and use simple logic, you quickly realize the system American's have grown to love is not sustainable on any level. Back to Zero.
America isnt the only place in chrisis. Iceland went bankrupt for instance and without economic help from other countries, Icelands economic system would've collapsed.
They make money out of money and all we get is their debt. Either we bend over and realize we're being fucked or either take back our society that rightfully belongs to us.

Oh give us a break! You talk like you're the only one who makes documentaries! You really need to lose the guilt tripping you're always trying to lay on people, it gets really OLD!!
Michael simply tells it like it is. Some don't like it because they don't understand how correct he is and it goes against their "beliefs" about our system. I still credit him with getting the healthcare problems out as a result of his last movie "Sicko" in 2007. Definately see this movie. He exposes what I call the "corporate mafia".
I hate to sound like a youtube libertarian and everything but seriously neoconservatism & crony capitalism are fascism, probably couldn't even exist in an anarchist society

What's funny is that...
...Michael Moore took advantage of Capitalism to make this movie.
a) He had to come up with the funds for it
b) He spent those funds on whatever he needed to create the movie.

I'd like to see people protesting outside Wall street and bringing it down like they did the Berlin Wall ( with blackberrys and briefcases being crushed) but I don't see that happening. People have got to think theres something better on the other side. Laissez faire means the ability to do business and make profit without any kind of regulation, restriction or taxation. Let the invisible hand decide.
It's economic anarchy. Who ever gets the most grain accumulated in his barn gets to play. It is a right wing utopia, as much as marxism is a utopia.
denizb74 2 years ago
About a page or so back I said I am in favor of common sense regulation, and believe that some is both needed and constitutional under the commerce clause. Anarchy is a total bad word. Anarchy is almost as over used as socialism. You can't have anarchy when you have collective police, roads, schools, military, but you can have socialism. Nice attempt at a red herring. We have incremental real socialism NOW. There are no signs of anarchy and TONS of regulations. Fail.

Libertarians are either naive, or just plain greedy. There is no reason for anyone to make obscene amounts of money (with uncontrolled "laissez faire" capitalism). Sure we should have individual freedoms, but that's not the only factor that drives humans, we also live in society and have other values besides self-interest. Where does love, sharing, compassion, selflessness come to play in a purely capitalist system? There is just no room for any of it - in fact those values brake the system.

JayPhilosopher 2 years ago 2
LOL, well at least we agree that corporate welfare helps no one. By the way those guys aren't capitalists. Once the capitalist starts using the gov't to achieve it's end, like Bush & Obama proudly allow(ed) they CEASE BEING CAPITALIST and become corporatists, which is fascism. That is fascism as defined by Louis britt and Benito_Mussolini.
biguy617 2 years ago
Semantics... The socialism you talk about that's free of corruption hasn't materialized for large populations EVER, and I firmly believe human nature will prevent it from morphing into any other form than what we've already seen, which historically all started out as socialist workers movements. The corporations did not control the gov in Italy, The gov controlled corps and subsequently the populace. Socialism is a broad term, but I understand you have to defend your worldview/gateway to fascism
DavidThePatriot 2 years ago
You are partially wrong.
Socialism = state ownership of capital. Communism is the same thing except it abolishes private property.
Fascism is not corporatism.... for example Stalin and Hitler were fascists but they were socialists and communists.
uberbcs 2 years ago
Stalin is a communist not a fascist. I remember discussing communism with some move on friends. They said that it is right wing socialism or dictatorial socialism . Left wing socialism is Bernie sanders scandevian style socialism or democratic.
biguy617 2 years ago
Well, yes & no. The terms are vaguely defined so there are differing interpretations of them, but here's how I see it:
Regardless of defining socialism vs communism, Stalin had a -rich- ruling elite so couldn't truly be either. I would say that Stalin was a fascist pretending to be a communist because he took power by hijacking a communist revolution. Communism/socialism has issues, but totalitarianism isn't inherently one (not that you could tell from the past communist revolutions...)

All types of governments have something good in them, but eventually, an elite group tries to take over and the people revolt against it.
chuytheme 2 years ago

I am.

COMALiteJ 2 years ago
In Rush's case, the deception is that the USA has TEN TIMES the acreage now than it did when the Declaration was signed (13 colonies). Rush knows this well. He deliberately and carefully words that claim. He NEVER says, "the land covered by the USA today [or then]."
So, if we have 10× the land but only 2× the forest now, that's roughly a 5× NET LOSS of forest!
Rush thus TECHNICALLY tells the truth, but in a WILFULLY DECEPTIVE way that conveys the 180° DIAMETRIC OPPOSITE of the truth.
COMALiteJ 2 years ago
Well, Moore has done the same sort of "tell the technical truth but be willfuly, deliberately, maliciously deceptive and convey the 180° diametric opposite of the truth" things MANY times in "Bowling for Columbine." And yes, he has outright LIED a few times in and about that film. I've pointed out several of them (complete with time points to freeze frame on so you can see for yourself) in several threads on that film.
Which is a real shame. He hurt his credibility.

Thank you Mike for another outstanding documentary. I believe Americans need to stop being slaves to their credit scores and reputations. We are now living in times where silence is really a form of violence. People should bank with either a credit union or an Islamic bank.

Americans aren't going to do anything. They are lazy. They deserve the crisis they are receiving. Michael Moore will no longer be making any more films because of it. Sad and embarrassing. We're through. The end.
tylertyler82 2 years ago 2

This movie will be entertaining but could be 1,000 better if he teamed up with Penn & Teller.
They could get Ralph Nader and Ron Paul.... How kick ass would a left wing libertarian take on the financial crisis directed by Michael Moore be?
Oh well I just hope this time he makes damn sure there are Zero factual errors

Penn And Teller suck and are sellouts.

I hope he continues to make films!! Is this one like, supposed to spark some sort of revolution or something? I can't even wait.
So seeing this Oct 2.

The problem with Republican capitalism is that it's economic anarchy.
Perrine234 2 years ago 13
I hate to sound like a youtube libertarian and everything but seriously neoconservatism & crony capitalism are fascism, probably couldn't even exist in an anarchist society

WOOOOW Michale, you know just as good as anyone that this will be either a very slow process or innefective in general. Your our real world Superman and you can quote me on this but you have brought awareness to today's critical issues that plague Americans like another AIDS epidemic has caused out cries for help. Don't do this M.M, I love your work!!! P.S. Why aren't any of your documentaries on You Tube?
