well of course portugese, spanish, french and italian sound more melodious. after all, they all come from italic. italian is the standard language for opera. but english and other germanic languages are also very beautiful...
This is not an English version of a Brazilian song. It was written in English by Caetano Veloso while in exile in London during the military dictatorship in Brazil. It is funny how they say "...go looking f' flying saucers..." Ommiting the "for", originally well pronounced by Caetano.
In the part: "While my eyes go looking for flying saucers in the sky", the word "for" was completely deaccented. All you hear is an [ f ] sound. This sounds very odd to those accostumed to Caetano Veloso's original recording with the full "for", But then again, it is understandable given the fact that in Cibelli's version there is this clear attempt to fit the lyrics to the rhythm of the English language. As for the video , all the magic of a song composed during exile is lost., sadly.
English is the ugliest language t spoken! Brazilian portugese, spanish and french are much more passionate languages that only an ignorant anglophile like RMCKIE!cannot comprehend ! Time to acknowledge the facts, english is only good for spken business communication! Not for love, passion, or any kind of feelings or emotion, with the exception of The Beatles..
lol, bit of a stupid comment, clearky youve be never been to england, and if you have havent spoken to anyone who speaks it correctly, with the correct linguistics, prenounciation, its a beautifull language, and a beautifull accent...."with the exception to the beatles"LOL, kind of contridicted everthing youve just said there? havnt you...tut..
@Teddy17bossa I disagree, I speak Spanish English and some Portuguese, English is a beautiful language as well. Pero ahora el tema es Cibelle, que canta muy bonito, nao e!
Of course John Donne, John Milton, TS Eliot, not to mention Shakespeare didn't find any poetry in English!? All that these lyrics show is that while Caetano in Portuguese is a sublime poetic lyricist he has no feel for English. Compare this to anything of his in Portuguese but most directly to his hymn to RJ "Estrangeiro" and see this what for what it is; a cute song from a man in exile but not one of his great works. Caetano simply lacks of dominion of this great idiom.
vou escrever em português só de marra tb! xD hahahah
