I worship His because of who He is. He is worthy of all praise. Heaven is a blessing to all those who love Him. Maybe you do not understand because you do not know Him.
So, if you want to start going on about what the Bible says, a Muslim could do the same with the Qur'an. Would that make what they're saying valid in your eyes? You can go on all day long about what a book says, but you need to give some evidence from OUTSIDE of it for your argument to hold any convincing weight. I could read to you from "The Night Before Christmas," but unless I could show you evidence of Santa and flying reindeer you'd probably not believe it's a true story.
No, it is incumbent on you to believe the Gospel or be judged by God. He is revealed in His creation and His word commands all people everywhere to repent. The God of the Bible is revealed in His creation not the false god of the Qur'an.
Your conscience tells you that you are accountable for your actions. God's existence is self evident no matter how much you suppress His truth, You will have no excuse. His creation declares His truth.
Name a design that has no designer? Since there is something something had to exist for eternity. Or do you believe something comes from nothing? Where do living things come from? Do you think life comes from non-life?
It's NOT designed. Natural selection just eliminates organisms that don't survive, and they don't pass on their traits. It starts out chaotic, but becomes ordered.
Are you suggesting that natural selection created everything? Do you think that it is possible that God placed in organisms the potential for change to survive in changing environments? I am suggesting that the potential for change was already inherent in organisms. And that no new information was added but only lost. Note: The only change that has been seen scientifically is changes within kinds of organisms. In other words there are different cats but they are still cats.
A fictional historically inaccurate text written by pig ignorant savages has no relevance in the 21st C. Why do you stupid fuckers keep spouting this crap?
Its as relevant today as the Three Billy Goats Gruff story. Enough said. Trip trap trip trap.
Next youll be telling us that the world is 6000-10000 years old.
The Bible says nothing about asking Jesus in your heart. The Bible does teach repentance towards God and faith in Jesus Christ (Acts 20:21). John the apostle said this,
"They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us" (1 John 2:19).
"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one.
Well if you're insinuating I was never a real Christian, I'm fine with that. If you're insinuating I am STILL a Christian, so be it.
I mean no offense, truly I don't, but quoting scripture to an atheist is like reading a fortune cookie to someone who isn't superstitious. In short, what am I supposed to get out of reading those lines? I understand, they're from The Bible. I was a Christian from age 5 to age 33. What am I supposed to get out of this?
Yes you can. If you are having a two way conversation with an imaginary god, I strongly suggest that you seek medical help. It is likely that you are schizophrenic.
No, I must correct you (again). First of all, there is no "atheist world view." You STILL do not grasp what atheism is. It is simply the lack of a belief in god(s). It asserts nothing, it claims nothing, it tells you NOTHING about what the individual DOES believe. Do you not understand this? I do not see "sin" but I do in fact see good and bad (or "evil" if the bad happens to be quite astonishingly so).
Hi, my name is Jeff and I've been thinking about doing open air preaching, but don't have much experience and am a bit afraid. How long have you been doing this, because you appear to be very polished? Are there any tips you can give to me? Thanks.
Memorize, memorize, memorize the rantings of Ray Comfort, learn "the banana argument," insist evolution is stupid (even though you don't understand it) and make sure to never critically examine your beliefs. When I examined my beliefs I realized that (Christianity at least) doesn't have a leg to stand on.
I hope you decide on another avenue of helping people.
Again, if you want to call logic "immaterial" then fine, but remember it springs FROM something material (my brain). If you want to claim that an immaterial spirit world exists can you prove it? Or does it spring forth from where logic comes from (the mind, i.e. your imagination)?
Are you saying that the universal abstract laws of logic are material? Show me a law of logic then. I would like to see you produce one. Can you see your conscience. prove scientifically that your conscience exists. Your world view cannot account for these things therefore it has been weighed in the balance and found wanting. It is flawed.
You are absolutely right. Everything you say is impeccably true and I can't believe I had any chance against you. I mean, you've proven over and over that your position is solid and true, yet all you've done is attack me and pester me with questions without proving a single thing you claim to be true. You win, your god is real, I don't know why I didn't see it before.
One more thing; I'm not angry. I never said I was. You are setting up false premises and then haphazardly attempting to knock them down. Just remember, everything we write here is being documented for others to read, so your intellectual dishonesty will shine on in perpetuity.
I see you know how to change the subject. Are you happy with evil or angry that there is evil? Again give me your basis for good and evil in an atheist universe. Stop changing the subject.
I can see now why Christians say their god made them in his image; he was a bully, too. You're very demanding for someone who has yet to prove you have a leg to stand on, truth-wise.
Why on earth would you suggest that I could be happy with evil? What's wrong with you?
I responded that way because you were shocked that I charged you with being angry with evil. I do believe you are angry with evil and my question is why? if everything is material and there is no God who is to say what is good and evil. That is my point. I do not mean to offend you personally. I am not perfect and do make mistakes.
I believe in evil with a little "e." I don't believe in sin. When someone is bad in a big way it is common-speak to refer to it as "evil." It's that simple. There is no god connotation in my meaning when I say evil.
The standard I live by is determined by the people I live among; it's a group effort. (Seriously, that's a no-brainer.) My ability to think comes from a working brain. Yes, my brain is made of matter. My compassion comes from being able to empathize with another person's sorrow (so I try my best to bring them happiness). What's a soul? Where did the "essence" of me come from? That sounds like voodoo, friend. I don't believe in a celestial dictator as I see no reason to. Why do you?
What if a "group" feels that handicapped people should be done away with? What about the consensuses of Hitler's Germany and America's slave trade. Where those beliefs OK because most people held them to be OK in those societies? When one makes the self the measure of truth and morality one sets themselves up as a god. Do you think you are god?
Let me be clear: I don't believe in gods, and I don't consider myself one. Ahhh Hitler. Everyone's favorite whipping boy for Christianity. Yes, Hitler believed in God and was raised Roman Catholic, let's be clear on that point first of all. If you look at what the Nazis did as something that happened in our "global community" then you can see that the majority of the world DISAGREED with what they were doing, so we stepped in to stop them. I'd never argue that anyone can simply do.......
I do not care if you think Hitler is the Christian's favorite whipping boy. Address the issue do not dodge the issue. If morality is based on a consensus as you assert then Hitler did nothing wrong. Hitler was not a Christian. He murdered Jewish people and Jesus was a Jewish person. Hitler's life was inconsistent with what Jesus taught so there goes that straw man. Hitler was an evolutionist who sought to bring in a master race by getting rid of the people he perceived as weak.
Correct, my lack of faith would not get rid of a god, were one to exist. Conversely, your faith does not mean one exists, either; =blank slate. Oh, yet you still claim one exists, don't you? You, sir, are making a positive claim and an assertion, and the burden of proof is upon YOU to back up what you've said. Your empty threats, the by-product of your religious indoctrination, fall on deaf ears. If I insisted you should fear a celestial Boogeyman would it raise the slightest doubt in you?
True God's existence does not depend on my faith and I am glad that that is true. if that were true He would not be the great God that He is. He exists whether I acknowledge that or not. He is not dependent on me or anyone else.
Faith is only is good as the object of one's faith. Your faith is in the finite musings of man. You believe books written by finite men like Richard dawkins and Charles Darwin. I believe the book penned by finite men but inspired by the all-knowing, everywhere-present, all-powerful, eternal God.
(I have no idea what you meant to say in your first sentence. Please re-word it.)
You accuse me of having faith, and I tell you I have none. When you believe you understand the truth (or admit you don't yet understand) then faith is not necessary. What good is faith? Faith is admitting to believing in something for which there is no evidence, and sometimes even OPPOSING evidence. I have good reason to believe what I believe based on evidence, no faith needed. Why do you believe in.....
If you cannot understand i cannot help that. You do have faith. for example you assert that matter is all that there is can you prove that? Evolutionists assert that the universe came from a big bang. Where they there to observe the big bang? Evolutionists also assert that all organisms are related. That has never been scientifically demonstrated. Do you believe darwin was correct? If so you are exercising faith in ideas made up by a man.
I assert matter is all there is because there is no EVIDENCE to believe otherwise. If I say "gravity is all there is" I imagine you'd tell me "Yes, but there might be baby angels holding things to the earth to keep them from flying away, too!" Where are you gonna stop with the claims for the UNSEEN that you can't back up with evidence? Organisms being related to each other has not been scientifically proven? Do you have ANY idea how close our DNA is to modern day primates? Research it.
I see you have dodged the issue of logic and morality because you have no answer. Until you address those things I will not address the issue of the immaterial world again. I am not going to be running around in circles because you have no answers.
...a book penned by finite men which you claim (because THEY claimed) was inspired by a god? What is your evidence this is true? The Koran makes the same claim. Holy books all bear the stamp of "divinely inspired by a god" but no one so far has been able to prove any of them to be legitiment. Therefore, the person making the claim (you) should be prepared to back up the reason for your claims. If you convince me, I'll be happy to join your system of belief, honestly I will.
Again you are guilty of what you accuse me. You believe things written and asserted by men. i believe that God's word is true and that it was inspired by Him through men. Your faith is in finite men mine is in the all knowing all powerful, everywhere present, eternal God.
...whatever they want and there won't be any consequences or outside forces that might try to reason with or stop them. I'd rather not spend this discussion trying to explain Hitler to you as he has nothing to do with me or my belief system. He believed he was doing the work of the Lord and I want nothing to do with that nonsense.
I am not only suggesting it, I am asserting it. What evidence is there that a non-material world exists?! Even if one did, how would you know it if it's non-material? If you want to believe it, fine, but don't act surprised when people of reason ask for evidence or assert that one doesn't exist. I'm not asserting that the ONLY way to know things is through the scientific method. I can know things from plain old fashiond living and life experiences.
If the material word is all that there is on what basis are you appealing to the laws of logic in your argument that only the material word exists? Have you ever seen a law of logic? Smelled one? Tasted one? Or felt one? "People of reason" Can see reason?
Respectfully, you're making this much more confusing than it needs to be. Are you saying there needs to be a non-material world for me to appeal to the laws of logic? Are you asking me if I can SEE reason (or a law) with my eyes? Let me explain it this way: I can't see, touch, taste, smell or hear gravity, yet I believe it exists. I can test it, repeatedly, and it always behaves the same way. Based on that, I can safely say it exists. How do YOU confirm a non-material world exists?
Love, happiness, peace of mind, etc are all apart of the non-material word. Though considered emotions invoked by the material world it is possible to feel these things in your mind. Your mind, which is molded by your actions while you were here are earth, goes with you when you die. Throughout your life you emitted and transmitted different kinds of feelings. If you emiited nothing but positivity what makes you think that because your physical body/the matter you are composed of will emitNenerg
(I'm not sure if there's a question in there that you'd like me to respond to? It seems you're departing a bit from the essence of what we're discussing in this thread.)
I am simply asking you to be consistent with what you say you believe. You cannot say on one hand that all that there is is that which is material and then on the other hand appeal to something that is immaterial namely reason to try to prove your point. You have refuted yourself.
No, sir, you could not be more wrong. You may claim something like "reason" to be non-material, but the key point you're missing is that reason springs FROM material, namely the brain.
Please show me your evidence for this non-material WORLD you believe in, this land of spirits and demons and angels. Or does that, too, spring forth from your brain (or better yet, your imagination)?
Just being able to imagine it does not make it so. Please prove your claim or I'll say good-bye.
Reason is based on immaterial abstract assumptions. No matter how much you scream that reason is material you cannot change the truth. Your presuppositions demand that it be true but your assumptions are flawed and cannot account for the abstract and immaterial. You believe a lie because you do not want to be accountable to God and want to live by your own rules. Romans 1:18-32 describes you. You suppress the truth of God which is completely evident in what he has made.
Show me reason. Show me morals. Show me emotions. Show me the essence of your being. Show me your personality. Yes, God is completely evident you simply choose to ignore Him because you want to be the measure of truth.
I could absolutely show you all the things you've asked me. I could show you reason, morality, emotion, my "essence," my personality... (Then you make a non-sequitur back to your god claim....) You claim this god is completely evident, but 4 billion people on this planet would beg to differ (that is assuming you've chose the Christian god). If you've chosen the Muslim god you STILL have about 4 billion people that would argue he's not evident. Please explain even 1 example of this evidence.
Now you're asking for logic? You asked for a list of other things, now you want to add to it? Why not just tell me what you're getting at? YOU are making the claim that a god (your PARTICULAR god) exists, therefore the burden of proof is on you, not me. I'm simply saying I don't believe in the god you believe in. You are skirting responsibility by endlessly trying to get me to prove these side issues which have no direct bearing on your claim to know that the god you believe in exists.
I see you have not carefully read my posts as I have brought up logic numerous times. I am done until you address all the issues I have put in front of you but you have left with no answers.
I've carefully read each of your posts, but I am more interested in you providing some shred of evidence to back up your god claim (as opposed to going 'round and 'round about logic). You are arrogantly dancing around the issue and attempting to shift the burden of proof to me. I'm not here to prove anything; I'm simply telling you I don't believe in your god claim. Can you (YES/NO) give some evidence for why you believe? I'm not interested in going further if you can't or won't.
You say only material things exist. I gave you some examples of things your materialistic worldview cannot account for and I have yet to see you give an account. I am still waiting. Morals and logic are accounted for according to the Judeo Christian world view. So stop stealing from my world view by trying to appeal to reason. You have yet to account for reason.
You are guilty of sin and you know it. Your conscience will stand as a witness against you when you stand before the Almighty. Self righteousness and pride are the worst kind of sins.
Prove how you know this, or lower your head, tuck your tail between your legs and admit defeat. I'm finished messing around with your arrogant ignorance. Prove how you know what I'm thinking or move on.
On my own authority, thank you. I am a thinking, rational, compassionate person who cares about my fellow human beings. That's all the authority I need. I don't need threats handed down from a celestial dictator who will fry me otherwise.
So are you the standard of what is right and wrong? Where did your ability to think come from? Did it come from matter? Where did your ability to be compassionate come from? Did that come from matter? What is the source of your soul? Where did the essence of you come from? Has the "celestrial dictator" been allowing you to go your own way?
1. Nowhere does the Bible say the world is 6,000 years old. The age of the earth based on the biblical account of creation is open to interpretation.
2. What is not true about the fact that the Bible says adulterers (I don't think the Bible explicitly states to stone homosexuals anywhere)should be stoned?
3. Please share how you know that a flood did not cover the earth.
lucifer bless you? you say? heres the way i look at it, tell people about salvation ,just like i would tell someone a camp fire burns if you put you hand in the fire,if they refuse to lisen to me ,and they put there hand in the fire anyway ,all i can do is call them a fool when they get burned by the fire,NEXT.
LOL, I just found these hysterical street preacher videos. These people are a riot, going around yelling to crowds of laughing on-lookers. How anyone can believe on that man written fantasy called the bible is beyond me. It's a serious crutch for people who can't handle the truth of nature. They all share the same common theme, god's gonna fuck you up. LOL!!! I reject the holy spirit. There, let's see what happens.
27For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father's glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done. 28I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom."
Wow Jesus is a little late isn't he? Was there a cloud drivers strike?
But you, when you pray, enter into your closet and when you have shut your door, pray to your father which is IN SECRET. And when you pray, do not be like the HYPOCRITES, for they LOVE to pray standing in the synagogues and on the STREET CORNERS. Matthew 6:5 PWNED !!11!!11!!!1 XP
The evangelist is not praying publicly in the video so what is your point? He is simply preaching the Gospel as commanded by Jesus and modeled by the disciples (Acts 17:16-32)
Last night I arrived home from a holiday in a place where very few people would believe what you are saying is true. As a matter of fact more people in this eagon believe in other forms of religion. Be it Islam, Hindu, or Buddism. To talk of one "god" makes some of them laugh out loud.
You stand on a street corner "preaching" what YOU believe. What makes you so sure you are right??
First we are made in the image of a relational God. He is thinking, loving, and volitional. These qualities require a person. We reflect these qualities. Second, we see God's attributes in His creation (His creation includes us). Attributes that the other gods you mentioned do not process. Third, the true God has revealed Himself in the Holy Scriptures the Bible. God's prophets foretold the birth of the Savior, His family line, His death, and His resurrection. Where did you go?
What I have learnt and believe is that "god" is our state of conciousness. The story of Adam and Eve is where the human being developed a level of conciousness that made him aware. And that seperated us from other animals.
Which "Holy Scriptures" do you refer to?? The Koran, The Bible, Chinese Liteature, Hindu Text? There are many scriptures that are considered "Holy". The Bible is but one.
On what authority do you say that, "god is our state of conciousness. The story of Adam and Eve is where the human being developed a level of conciousness that made him aware. And that seperated us from other animals?"
I only consider the Holy Bible to be God's holy word. The prophets of the OT and Jesus spoke of false prophets. Jesus is the only One to fulfill the prophets. He the only One that paid for our sin. He is the only One who conquered death for all humanity that believes.
I don't need any authority to believe in something different to you. It is what I "believe". Just like you "believe" in the bible. I believe that man evolved from a more simple animal. As our ability to know right from wrong developed our society developed and then degenerated.
You "believe" that the earth and universe was made in seven days and two humans were plopped on earth. Where did the black man, the asian man, the incas, the pygmies come from?
Are all different ethnicities of people anything but human? You can scoff at what I am saying but you have given no proof. Not agreeing with what the Bible says proves nothing. God bless you my friend.
I don't scoff at what you say. You belief system is yours. You have also given no proof other than to referr to the bible. A book written over 2000 years ago in a culture far removed from our own.
I don't disrepect you. I just don't share your beliefs. That is neither wrong or evil as some would think.
I tend to like the Buddhist philosophies, teachings, and attitudes.
My argument is not scientific my argument is that nothing is possible without God. In other words the impossibility of the contrary. Stating that the Bible is old does not disprove the Bible. It is interesting that you like philosophies that were espoused by men more than 2000 years ago but when it comes to the Bible you are prejudiced.
No I don't disprove the Bible. Nor do I try to. I just don't believe that all in it is 100% rock solid true.
Your bible relates to a small area in the middle east some 200 years ago yet its well known that there were many other civilizations living at the same time. But these are never mentioned. Why are they're civilizations and beliefs not recognized in the christian world?? They did exist.
I just can't base my whole life on a religion that was born in the Middle east / Egypt / Iran some 2 - 3000 years ago.
The world was a very different place back then.
You talk of false prophets. Are these prophets only false if you don't believe in them?? Billions of buddhists and hindus would think your god is a false profit.
It will be a great day when this greedy, sinful, hateful world system comes to an end and Jesus judges all unrighteousness. He will usher in His kingdom of peace and righteousness. No more lying politicians no more religious charlatans only truth, love, and justice. It will be a great day and my joy to be in the presence of my creator and my redeemer. God bless you even if we disagree.
you seem like a nice person. but what if you are wrong and someone pushes the button to the missles?? thats why I must speak out against end times evangelism
* Acts 13:41 NIV " 'Look, you scoffers, wonder and perish, for I am going to do something in your days that you would never believe, even if someone told you.' " * 2 Peter 3:3 NIV First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. * Jude 1:18 NIV They said to you, "In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires."
God hates evil and loves righteousness. Therefore it is an act of love to rid the world of evil. You can be saved and cleansed from your sin if you admit your sin, turn towards God, and place your faith in Jesus and His sacrifice on the cross. His sacrifice is the greatest act of love in the history of Humankind. That is the innocent Son of God taking the punishment you deserve upon Himself. He died for sinners like you and me. If you go to hell it is because you rejected His love.
The study shows that life can form from non life given the right conditions. At least there are people trying to figure out where we came from. By just saying god did it, we are preventing ourselves from finding out everything about our universe. Prove that there is a god.
Are you trying to assert that something non-living gave life to all living things. There is no proof of what you are saying. You believe by faith that abiogenisisis is true. You have no empirical proof and neither did Harold Urey or Stanley Miller. They were speculating based on their non-believeing worldview. Did you ever think about the fact that living people set up the experiments so even if they did produce life it would have been the result of living beings creating the environment.
People will be sent to hell for knowingly breaking God's law and for denying His clear existence. (See Romans 1:18-32). Science is good but it can only account for things that we can observe or measure in repeatable experiments. We all know things that we cannot observe or measure. For example, we cannot see the laws of logic but we all know they exist. You are more than just your biological make up. You are a person. God is also a person and He made us in His image.
Yes, some of them actually did. Jesus is God, so those who trusted the God of Israel(such as Abraham), Jehovah, Who came to earth as Jesus Christ the Son, were saved.
Actually by asking "Who made God" is like asking "Who invented Time" ... For my knowledge, ppl have discovered them both, true, but they both are always been there. Some things just basicly are ...
I hope all is well with you even though we disagree. I do have some questions for you. Where did the universe and all living things come from? Can life come from non-life? Can something come from nothing?
We havent figured out yet where everything comes from. The scientific revolution has just hit the tip of the iceberg. Religion has sent science back at least 500 years. We should be conquering space right now.
Again, we dont know because we are not that far in developing our knowledge of the universe. But to say that there is a god is ignorant. The belief of god is preventing us from discovering the truth about the universe.
Are you saying that you do not know if life comes from non-life or if something can come from nothing? (It is common sense knowledge that life cannot come from non-life and that something cannot come from nothing). How is it then that you say in the next breath that it is ignorant to believe that God is the source of all things? Are you not admitting your ignorance as it concerns the source of life and all things?
Have you heard of abiogenisis? This is the study of how life came to be from non life. If you would open up a biology book instead of that book of fairytales, you would understand the world around you better.
Some things need to be proven scientifically, but not everything, like 2+2 always equals 4. We dont need science to prove that. In your book of fairytales, it says the earth is about 10,000 years old, so how could god of created these dinosaurs if they lived 100,000 million years ago?
Amen, Amen Good preaching there brother. I believed you saved many souls that night. God bless

The truth is, you love pleasure more than you love God, too. You only worship him because you want eternal bliss in heaven.

"The Bible says, the Bible says, the Bible says."
Do you know what the Qur'an says? Pretty much the same thing (regarding being the true word of a god).
Qur'an 41:53 "We will show them Our proofs in all the regions of the earth and in their own souls, until they clearly see that this is the truth ..."

So?
openairevangelism 2 years ago
So, if you want to start going on about what the Bible says, a Muslim could do the same with the Qur'an. Would that make what they're saying valid in your eyes? You can go on all day long about what a book says, but you need to give some evidence from OUTSIDE of it for your argument to hold any convincing weight. I could read to you from "The Night Before Christmas," but unless I could show you evidence of Santa and flying reindeer you'd probably not believe it's a true story.
worldsworstjukebox 2 years ago
No, it is incumbent on you to believe the Gospel or be judged by God. He is revealed in His creation and His word commands all people everywhere to repent. The God of the Bible is revealed in His creation not the false god of the Qur'an.

Can you back either of those claims up?

Are you suggesting that natural selection created everything? Do you think that it is possible that God placed in organisms the potential for change to survive in changing environments? Your question of "who" is flawed because it answers itself in the question. It's loaded and you will have to rephrase it before it can be answered.

The Bible says nothing about asking Jesus in your heart. The Bible does teach repentance towards God and faith in Jesus Christ (Acts 20:21). John the apostle said this,
"They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us" (1 John 2:19).
openairevangelism 2 years ago
Jesus also said,
"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one.
John 10:27-30

Well if you're insinuating I was never a real Christian, I'm fine with that. If you're insinuating I am STILL a Christian, so be it.
I mean no offense, truly I don't, but quoting scripture to an atheist is like reading a fortune cookie to someone who isn't superstitious. In short, what am I supposed to get out of reading those lines? I understand, they're from The Bible. I was a Christian from age 5 to age 33. What am I supposed to get out of this?
worldsworstjukebox 2 years ago
1. Yes.
2. Temptation, poor judgement. I was a Christian at the time and knew I could ask for forgiveness for anything and everything I did wrong.
3. Yes.
4. No. Sin requires a god to offend.
worldsworstjukebox 2 years ago
You cannot quit being a Christian. Were you ever born again?
If sin does not require a God to offend then who is the standard of right and wrong?
openairevangelism 2 years ago
"You cannot quit being a Christian." (So much for free will!)

"You cannot quit being a Christian."
Yes you can. If you are having a two way conversation with an imaginary god, I strongly suggest that you seek medical help. It is likely that you are schizophrenic.
FLUSEM666 2 years ago
No, I must correct you (again). First of all, there is no "atheist world view." You STILL do not grasp what atheism is. It is simply the lack of a belief in god(s). It asserts nothing, it claims nothing, it tells you NOTHING about what the individual DOES believe. Do you not understand this? I do not see "sin" but I do in fact see good and bad (or "evil" if the bad happens to be quite astonishingly so).

Have you ever done anything that violated your conscience? If so, why? Because you are good? or Because you are a sinner?

Hi, my name is Jeff and I've been thinking about doing open air preaching, but don't have much experience and am a bit afraid. How long have you been doing this, because you appear to be very polished? Are there any tips you can give to me? Thanks.
MrJeffrey316 2 years ago
Memorize, memorize, memorize the rantings of Ray Comfort, learn "the banana argument," insist evolution is stupid (even though you don't understand it) and make sure to never critically examine your beliefs. When I examined my beliefs I realized that (Christianity at least) doesn't have a leg to stand on.
I hope you decide on another avenue of helping people.
worldsworstjukebox 2 years ago
Again on what basis are you appealing to logic? You are using something immaterial to say all that exists is that which is material.
openairevangelism 2 years ago
Again, if you want to call logic "immaterial" then fine, but remember it springs FROM something material (my brain). If you want to claim that an immaterial spirit world exists can you prove it? Or does it spring forth from where logic comes from (the mind, i.e. your imagination)?
worldsworstjukebox 2 years ago
Are you saying that the universal abstract laws of logic are material? Show me a law of logic then. I would like to see you produce one. Can you see your conscience. prove scientifically that your conscience exists. Your world view cannot account for these things therefore it has been weighed in the balance and found wanting. It is flawed.
openairevangelism 2 years ago
You are absolutely right. Everything you say is impeccably true and I can't believe I had any chance against you. I mean, you've proven over and over that your position is solid and true, yet all you've done is attack me and pester me with questions without proving a single thing you claim to be true. You win, your god is real, I don't know why I didn't see it before.
worldsworstjukebox 2 years ago
Why are you angry about evil in an atheist world view there is no basis for good and evil.
openairevangelism 2 years ago
One more thing; I'm not angry. I never said I was. You are setting up false premises and then haphazardly attempting to knock them down. Just remember, everything we write here is being documented for others to read, so your intellectual dishonesty will shine on in perpetuity.
worldsworstjukebox 2 years ago
I see you know how to change the subject. Are you happy with evil or angry that there is evil? Again give me your basis for good and evil in an atheist universe. Stop changing the subject.
openairevangelism 2 years ago
I can see now why Christians say their god made them in his image; he was a bully, too. You're very demanding for someone who has yet to prove you have a leg to stand on, truth-wise.
Why on earth would you suggest that I could be happy with evil? What's wrong with you?
worldsworstjukebox 2 years ago
I responded that way because you were shocked that I charged you with being angry with evil. I do believe you are angry with evil and my question is why? if everything is material and there is no God who is to say what is good and evil. That is my point. I do not mean to offend you personally. I am not perfect and do make mistakes.
openairevangelism 2 years ago
I believe in evil with a little "e." I don't believe in sin. When someone is bad in a big way it is common-speak to refer to it as "evil." It's that simple. There is no god connotation in my meaning when I say evil.
worldsworstjukebox 2 years ago
The standard I live by is determined by the people I live among; it's a group effort. (Seriously, that's a no-brainer.) My ability to think comes from a working brain. Yes, my brain is made of matter. My compassion comes from being able to empathize with another person's sorrow (so I try my best to bring them happiness). What's a soul? Where did the "essence" of me come from? That sounds like voodoo, friend. I don't believe in a celestial dictator as I see no reason to. Why do you?
worldsworstjukebox 2 years ago
What if a "group" feels that handicapped people should be done away with? What about the consensuses of Hitler's Germany and America's slave trade. Where those beliefs OK because most people held them to be OK in those societies? When one makes the self the measure of truth and morality one sets themselves up as a god. Do you think you are god?
openairevangelism 2 years ago
Let me be clear: I don't believe in gods, and I don't consider myself one. Ahhh Hitler. Everyone's favorite whipping boy for Christianity. Yes, Hitler believed in God and was raised Roman Catholic, let's be clear on that point first of all. If you look at what the Nazis did as something that happened in our "global community" then you can see that the majority of the world DISAGREED with what they were doing, so we stepped in to stop them. I'd never argue that anyone can simply do.......
worldsworstjukebox 2 years ago
I do not care if you think Hitler is the Christian's favorite whipping boy. Address the issue do not dodge the issue. If morality is based on a consensus as you assert then Hitler did nothing wrong. Hitler was not a Christian. He murdered Jewish people and Jesus was a Jewish person. Hitler's life was inconsistent with what Jesus taught so there goes that straw man. Hitler was an evolutionist who sought to bring in a master race by getting rid of the people he perceived as weak.
openairevangelism 2 years ago
Your lack of faith does not get rid of God. He exists whether you choose to acknowledge Him or not. You will answer to Him.
openairevangelism 2 years ago
Correct, my lack of faith would not get rid of a god, were one to exist. Conversely, your faith does not mean one exists, either; =blank slate. Oh, yet you still claim one exists, don't you? You, sir, are making a positive claim and an assertion, and the burden of proof is upon YOU to back up what you've said. Your empty threats, the by-product of your religious indoctrination, fall on deaf ears. If I insisted you should fear a celestial Boogeyman would it raise the slightest doubt in you?
worldsworstjukebox 2 years ago
True God's existence does not depend on my faith and I am glad that that is true. if that were true He would not be the great God that He is. He exists whether I acknowledge that or not. He is not dependent on me or anyone else.
openaircampaigners 2 years ago
Faith is only is good as the object of one's faith. Your faith is in the finite musings of man. You believe books written by finite men like Richard dawkins and Charles Darwin. I believe the book penned by finite men but inspired by the all-knowing, everywhere-present, all-powerful, eternal God.
openaircampaigners 2 years ago
(I have no idea what you meant to say in your first sentence. Please re-word it.)
You accuse me of having faith, and I tell you I have none. When you believe you understand the truth (or admit you don't yet understand) then faith is not necessary. What good is faith? Faith is admitting to believing in something for which there is no evidence, and sometimes even OPPOSING evidence. I have good reason to believe what I believe based on evidence, no faith needed. Why do you believe in.....
worldsworstjukebox 2 years ago
If you cannot understand i cannot help that. You do have faith. for example you assert that matter is all that there is can you prove that? Evolutionists assert that the universe came from a big bang. Where they there to observe the big bang? Evolutionists also assert that all organisms are related. That has never been scientifically demonstrated. Do you believe darwin was correct? If so you are exercising faith in ideas made up by a man.
openairevangelism 2 years ago
I assert matter is all there is because there is no EVIDENCE to believe otherwise. If I say "gravity is all there is" I imagine you'd tell me "Yes, but there might be baby angels holding things to the earth to keep them from flying away, too!" Where are you gonna stop with the claims for the UNSEEN that you can't back up with evidence? Organisms being related to each other has not been scientifically proven? Do you have ANY idea how close our DNA is to modern day primates? Research it.
worldsworstjukebox 2 years ago
I see you have dodged the issue of logic and morality because you have no answer. Until you address those things I will not address the issue of the immaterial world again. I am not going to be running around in circles because you have no answers.
openairevangelism 2 years ago
...a book penned by finite men which you claim (because THEY claimed) was inspired by a god? What is your evidence this is true? The Koran makes the same claim. Holy books all bear the stamp of "divinely inspired by a god" but no one so far has been able to prove any of them to be legitiment. Therefore, the person making the claim (you) should be prepared to back up the reason for your claims. If you convince me, I'll be happy to join your system of belief, honestly I will.
worldsworstjukebox 2 years ago
Again you are guilty of what you accuse me. You believe things written and asserted by men. i believe that God's word is true and that it was inspired by Him through men. Your faith is in finite men mine is in the all knowing all powerful, everywhere present, eternal God.
openairevangelism 2 years ago
...whatever they want and there won't be any consequences or outside forces that might try to reason with or stop them. I'd rather not spend this discussion trying to explain Hitler to you as he has nothing to do with me or my belief system. He believed he was doing the work of the Lord and I want nothing to do with that nonsense.
worldsworstjukebox 2 years ago
Are you suggesting that the material world is all that there is? Are you asserting that the only way to know things is through the scientific method?
openairevangelism 2 years ago
I am not only suggesting it, I am asserting it. What evidence is there that a non-material world exists?! Even if one did, how would you know it if it's non-material? If you want to believe it, fine, but don't act surprised when people of reason ask for evidence or assert that one doesn't exist. I'm not asserting that the ONLY way to know things is through the scientific method. I can know things from plain old fashiond living and life experiences.
worldsworstjukebox 2 years ago
If the material word is all that there is on what basis are you appealing to the laws of logic in your argument that only the material word exists? Have you ever seen a law of logic? Smelled one? Tasted one? Or felt one? "People of reason" Can see reason?
openairevangelism 2 years ago
Respectfully, you're making this much more confusing than it needs to be. Are you saying there needs to be a non-material world for me to appeal to the laws of logic? Are you asking me if I can SEE reason (or a law) with my eyes? Let me explain it this way: I can't see, touch, taste, smell or hear gravity, yet I believe it exists. I can test it, repeatedly, and it always behaves the same way. Based on that, I can safely say it exists. How do YOU confirm a non-material world exists?
worldsworstjukebox 2 years ago
Love, happiness, peace of mind, etc are all apart of the non-material word. Though considered emotions invoked by the material world it is possible to feel these things in your mind. Your mind, which is molded by your actions while you were here are earth, goes with you when you die. Throughout your life you emitted and transmitted different kinds of feelings. If you emiited nothing but positivity what makes you think that because your physical body/the matter you are composed of will emitNenerg

(I'm not sure if there's a question in there that you'd like me to respond to? It seems you're departing a bit from the essence of what we're discussing in this thread.)
worldsworstjukebox 2 years ago
I am simply asking you to be consistent with what you say you believe. You cannot say on one hand that all that there is is that which is material and then on the other hand appeal to something that is immaterial namely reason to try to prove your point. You have refuted yourself.
openairevangelism 2 years ago
No, sir, you could not be more wrong. You may claim something like "reason" to be non-material, but the key point you're missing is that reason springs FROM material, namely the brain.
Please show me your evidence for this non-material WORLD you believe in, this land of spirits and demons and angels. Or does that, too, spring forth from your brain (or better yet, your imagination)?
Just being able to imagine it does not make it so. Please prove your claim or I'll say good-bye.
worldsworstjukebox 2 years ago
Reason is based on immaterial abstract assumptions. No matter how much you scream that reason is material you cannot change the truth. Your presuppositions demand that it be true but your assumptions are flawed and cannot account for the abstract and immaterial. You believe a lie because you do not want to be accountable to God and want to live by your own rules. Romans 1:18-32 describes you. You suppress the truth of God which is completely evident in what he has made.
openaircampaigners 2 years ago
Show me reason. Show me morals. Show me emotions. Show me the essence of your being. Show me your personality. Yes, God is completely evident you simply choose to ignore Him because you want to be the measure of truth.
openairevangelism 2 years ago
I could absolutely show you all the things you've asked me. I could show you reason, morality, emotion, my "essence," my personality... (Then you make a non-sequitur back to your god claim....) You claim this god is completely evident, but 4 billion people on this planet would beg to differ (that is assuming you've chose the Christian god). If you've chosen the Muslim god you STILL have about 4 billion people that would argue he's not evident. Please explain even 1 example of this evidence.
worldsworstjukebox 2 years ago
Go ahead I am waiting show me logic under a microscope. I want to see that.
openairevangelism 2 years ago
Now you're asking for logic? You asked for a list of other things, now you want to add to it? Why not just tell me what you're getting at? YOU are making the claim that a god (your PARTICULAR god) exists, therefore the burden of proof is on you, not me. I'm simply saying I don't believe in the god you believe in. You are skirting responsibility by endlessly trying to get me to prove these side issues which have no direct bearing on your claim to know that the god you believe in exists.
worldsworstjukebox 2 years ago
I see you have not carefully read my posts as I have brought up logic numerous times. I am done until you address all the issues I have put in front of you but you have left with no answers.
openairevangelism 2 years ago
I've carefully read each of your posts, but I am more interested in you providing some shred of evidence to back up your god claim (as opposed to going 'round and 'round about logic). You are arrogantly dancing around the issue and attempting to shift the burden of proof to me. I'm not here to prove anything; I'm simply telling you I don't believe in your god claim. Can you (YES/NO) give some evidence for why you believe? I'm not interested in going further if you can't or won't.
worldsworstjukebox 2 years ago
You say only material things exist. I gave you some examples of things your materialistic worldview cannot account for and I have yet to see you give an account. I am still waiting. Morals and logic are accounted for according to the Judeo Christian world view. So stop stealing from my world view by trying to appeal to reason. You have yet to account for reason.

You stand on a street corner "preaching" what YOU believe. What makes you so sure you are right??
Cadrat2006 3 years ago
First we are made in the image of a relational God. He is thinking, loving, and volitional. These qualities require a person. We reflect these qualities. Second, we see God's attributes in His creation (His creation includes us). Attributes that the other gods you mentioned do not process. Third, the true God has revealed Himself in the Holy Scriptures the Bible. God's prophets foretold the birth of the Savior, His family line, His death, and His resurrection. Where did you go?
openairevangelism 3 years ago
I went to Sth East Asia.
Cadrat2006 3 years ago
On what authority do you say that, "god is our state of conciousness. The story of Adam and Eve is where the human being developed a level of conciousness that made him aware. And that seperated us from other animals?"
I only consider the Holy Bible to be God's holy word. The prophets of the OT and Jesus spoke of false prophets. Jesus is the only One to fulfill the prophets. He the only One that paid for our sin. He is the only One who conquered death for all humanity that believes.
openairevangelism 3 years ago
I don't need any authority to believe in something different to you. It is what I "believe". Just like you "believe" in the bible. I believe that man evolved from a more simple animal. As our ability to know right from wrong developed our society developed and then degenerated.
You "believe" that the earth and universe was made in seven days and two humans were plopped on earth. Where did the black man, the asian man, the incas, the pygmies come from?
Please don't preach to me....cont

My argument is not scientific my argument is that nothing is possible without God. In other words the impossibility of the contrary. Stating that the Bible is old does not disprove the Bible. It is interesting that you like philosophies that were espoused by men more than 2000 years ago but when it comes to the Bible you are prejudiced.
openairevangelism 3 years ago
No I don't disprove the Bible. Nor do I try to. I just don't believe that all in it is 100% rock solid true.
Your bible relates to a small area in the middle east some 200 years ago yet its well known that there were many other civilizations living at the same time. But these are never mentioned. Why are they're civilizations and beliefs not recognized in the christian world?? They did exist.

I just can't base my whole life on a religion that was born in the Middle east / Egypt / Iran some 2 - 3000 years ago.

What is the evidence that abiogenisisis true? Do not merely give me the name of a study. I think abiogenisisis is a fairytale.
openairevangelism 4 years ago

Did people that lived thousands of years before Jesus go to heaven or hell? They didnt accept him as their savior.
kingtanto 4 years ago
People will be sent to hell for knowingly breaking God's law and for denying His clear existence. (See Romans 1:18-32). Science is good but it can only account for things that we can observe or measure in repeatable experiments. We all know things that we cannot observe or measure. For example, we cannot see the laws of logic but we all know they exist. You are more than just your biological make up. You are a person. God is also a person and He made us in His image.

Yes, some of them actually did. Jesus is God, so those who trusted the God of Israel(such as Abraham), Jehovah, Who came to earth as Jesus Christ the Son, were saved.

who made god then??

Do you know, what the word "God" means? Then there is your answer.
AzaZeLgaming 3 years ago
Actually by asking "Who made God" is like asking "Who invented Time" ... For my knowledge, ppl have discovered them both, true, but they both are always been there. Some things just basicly are ...

ok but I could say the Cosmos has alway been there and the big bang marked the start of time.

In what way? How is your mind superior?
openairevangelism 4 years ago
Anyone who thinks they were created by some magical man in the sky and thinks that there is a heaven and a hell are completely brainwashed.

I hope all is well with you even though we disagree. I do have some questions for you. Where did the universe and all living things come from? Can life come from non-life? Can something come from nothing?
openairevangelism 4 years ago
We havent figured out yet where everything comes from. The scientific revolution has just hit the tip of the iceberg. Religion has sent science back at least 500 years. We should be conquering space right now.
kingtanto 4 years ago
Please answer the other two questions. Can life come from non-life? Can something come from nothing?
openairevangelism 4 years ago
Again, we dont know because we are not that far in developing our knowledge of the universe. But to say that there is a god is ignorant. The belief of god is preventing us from discovering the truth about the universe.
kingtanto 4 years ago
Are you saying that you do not know if life comes from non-life or if something can come from nothing? (It is common sense knowledge that life cannot come from non-life and that something cannot come from nothing). How is it then that you say in the next breath that it is ignorant to believe that God is the source of all things? Are you not admitting your ignorance as it concerns the source of life and all things?
openairevangelism 4 years ago
Have you heard of abiogenisis? This is the study of how life came to be from non life. If you would open up a biology book instead of that book of fairytales, you would understand the world around you better.

Do you think that we can only know things that have been proven scientifically?
openairevangelism 4 years ago
Do you think dinosaur bones were put here by satan.
kingtanto 4 years ago
I repeat, do you think that we can only know things that have been proven scientifically?
No God created all dinosaurs and every other creature.
openairevangelism 4 years ago
Some things need to be proven scientifically, but not everything, like 2+2 always equals 4. We dont need science to prove that. In your book of fairytales, it says the earth is about 10,000 years old, so how could god of created these dinosaurs if they lived 100,000 million years ago?
kingtanto 4 years ago
Prove that the laws of logic that you are appealing to exist when you say that 2+2= 4. Prove that abiogenisisis true.
