  • I See that his strumming for this song never changed! I love the way his hand is bent

  • Somebody show Snow Patrol this.

  • I understand why he mixes it up like that, sing alongs piss me off too but it just sounds way better the other way in my opinion, this is good but not as good.

  • @sam91004 that's the rim of the snare drum

  • What is it that makes those tapping sounds? Is it the guitar, sure looks like it?

  • Woah its a 12 string guitar!!

    Nice..:D

    I love this song..

  • I've seen him perform twice in the past 15 months. It always leaves you wanting more. Thanks for posting video clips like this. I love that he changes up the words....don't want it to sound like the CD.

  • The passion. Goodness, I love Conor's music so, so much.

  • i'm going to see him live. i've never been more excited.

  • i love bright eyes but you all bring so much drama just reading this shit makes me not want to listen. and i listened since before most of you were out of grade school

  • that's great for you.

  • i love how he changes the lyrics

  • I've never noticed the ring on his finger, hm...

  • it's a mood ring, he started wearing it on the cassadaga tour I believe; i think it is the "new" black string

  • he gave it away to some fan at a show i think

  • he had it last time I saw him for sure and in the outer south album, on the reverse side it's in the pile of stuff...And my mistake it is a "four winds" ring not a mood ring,

  • great videos. thanks!

  • i wonder if all of his changed lyrics are intentional or an accident. sometimes he changes them, other times he just forgets.

    (the man drinks alot..)

  • As a performer, you'd know that's it's impossible to remember every song verbatim.

  • yeah, but sometimes he changes his lyrics intentionally, and other times he forgets.

for instance, during one tour he changed some lyrics to road to joy, he inserted lines from sun ra,"talkin' 'bout...NUCLEAR WAR!"

and, as a performer, i also wouldn't sound so condescending

  • often it looks like he changes the lyrics just because he feels like saying something a little different - y'know, keep it interesting, make a new point, avoid boredom for himself.

then other times it looks like he changes things a bit because the people singing along are drowning him out. there is one clip where he comments on what a bummer it is to have everyone singing over him.

he changed "made love... been fucked" to "made love in handcuffs" on Letterman, - can't say fuck on tv.

  • Excuse me? He wrote it and he sings it every day. I am pretty sure he knows it word for word.

  • Oh, I wasn't aware that you had knowledge as to if Conor plays You Will everyday (everyday being one word) or not, so he must play all of his hundreds of songs everyday, huh? I guess I just didn't consider that. Wow.

  • it also gives the crowd for the night a unique version of each song. and it spices it up for him as well i'm sure.

  • He does that because it bothers him the way all the kids in the audience sing along so loudly and it distracts him. He does it to throw people off. The people in the audience bought tickets to listen to him sing, not to listen to themselves. And its not a kindergarten singalong. Ive seen a number of interviews where he gripes about it.

  • You guys are seriously arguing over why Conor Oberst performs the way he does.

  • @kookykaymo yeah thats part. but also he said something about how he thinks a song is never fully finished. So live he decides to change it up to a different way he thought after he recorded it.

  • why does everyone go on about this? If you want exact lyrics listen to a cd...hell the recorded version is just one the version of it he happened to be playing at that time...there are no proper lyrics!

Bob Dylan does it (see how his lyrics changed during his divorce), Leonard Cohen does it (it took five years of changing to settle on a version of hallelujah)...

His song, his lyrics. it doesn't matter

  • So much energy in the end! I LOVE IT!

  • I love the little "woo". So awesome

  • great show! nice to see him smiling while performing! thanks for posting.

  • what kind of guitar is he playing?

  • It's a Martin 12 string, maybe a DM12.

  • thanks!

  • *the tone and emotion of his voice*

  • the emotion and tone of his reminds me of bob dylan(cliche i know)

    so damn good this performance

    i absolutly love this song

  • Damn, good performance.

  • what kind of camera do you have? it's amazing

  • I was there too. Was a great show!

  • Wow, great video!! Thanks.

  • how he smiles...

    :)

  • yeah, 1:58-2:00!!

  • is that a haircut i see? Nice.

Cool how he changes up the song but it still feels just as real as the original.

  • I loved this performance of this song - thank you so much!

    SUCH an amazing show!

There's no way to completely capture the fullness of it on video, because it was pure magic, but your filming is still amazing. Please post all that you can from this concert - I never wanted it to end, and this brings it back to me.

  • fucking amazing!!!!!!!

  • Thank you so much.
