Felt the need to point out an error. The guy says the Sonata has been around for 10yrs as a midsize sedan, but it's actually been around for 20yrs in the US. Hard to believe the Sonata has been around since 1989! It's come a very long way. I hope they don't get rid of the Sonata name and keep it for ever like the Accord name.
I convinced my Aunt in switching from Oldsmobile to Toyota, and she has LOVED her '01 Avalon for years now without trouble. Another example, is my Dad whose loved Buicks and Cheverolets all his life, but is now FINALLY getting rid of his '98 Buick Century for an '09 Limited Sonata. Point here folks, we all know the "Big 3" are suffering BADLY...!!! That said, instead of "limiting oneself", give Hyundai a try. I would bet with the '09 Sonata's MAJOR improvements, they have Toyota & Honda shakin
Your comment is very valid. Chevrolet(which I love), Ford and Chrysler aren't anymore as gold as they were in past. I mean, their cars are good(indeed), but japanese and south-korean vehicles have achieved such a good level of quality that American cars(and even Europeans) gotta get much better to reach the place of oriental vehicles(do NOT consider China) went.
J.D. Power & Associates, along with Consumer Reports, have rated the Sonata VERY well with regards too saftey & overall reliability. However..."people are people", and its unfortunate, that Hyundai's inital reputation got a bad rap. This said, i just don't think people are ready too "shake" or should i say sway there opinions, in a more positive light on this manufacturer. My whole family, has been GM for years, then i convinced my Aunt a long time Oldsmobile lover to switch too Toyota...
Sonata is a very nice car, probably my next purchase. Love the interior of the 09 ver, and I am glad Hyundai didn't change the shape of the tail light, only it's color.
I just bought an 09 sonata for about 18 (base version) and although they do depreciate; the base version comes with many many more features and delivers a better ride than the accord or camry. I couldn't be happier with my choice. It's something to definately look into.
This vehicle is awsome..i'll be honest. I have a honda accord and im looking for a new car, but I find buying a brand new hyundai sonata vs camry and accord or honda and toyta isnt the smartest idea since they depreciate very quickly..so I figure since hyundai knows that, they should probably lower the price for all the sonata models...if I bought the loaded 09 model for $32,000, a year later it would be worth $20,000 or less, that aint good!
Right. It'll be worth less in 4yrs than an Accord or Camry, but the different is made up initially with savings when you buy a Hyundai new or used. My local Kia dealership has the redesigned '09 Optima's (same as Sonata) for $16k. That's for the base 4cyl LX. Even so, they have pwr windows, locks, mirrors, AC, automatic, cruise, tilt wheel, etc standard. Plus, don't forget you get a much better warranty.
