theres some talk about the unoriginality of this anime.. hmm... CHINESE chess master... an anime about a country's intellectual strategic board game... idk how you could get any more original than that.
I can't believe how much racism exists on the Internet. I can't even enjoy a good Chinese anime without reading unbelievably ignorant comments. And none of this happens on the Japanese anime; for some reason it's just the Chinese that are constantly bashed online. It's truly sickening.
eh. i don't think i like it so much.. it's too energetic for a board game. Thats why i liked hikaru no go, it had a good feel of calmness and strategy. but this is only the beginning, i should go in 3 eps before i truly judge it.
@goozgav original chinese stuff are stupid, they have to copy or even steal stuff from other countries to make their products "look" good... but the quality is just the same shit. And they stole and copied everything (almost), then claim them to be theirs, and when the products are extremely bad that may cause sickness and harms toward users they will claim those shit belonging to something else, that's how they make money, that's Chinese style, get it ?
@dlwitness If you check the label of many products, including popular high end brands, they are made in China, and for a reason. Cheap labour means more profit. Your looking at one tree and not the forest. People adapt to trends and inventions to innovate even furthur. Key inventions from China inclue paper, gunpowder, the compass, various medical practices, several philosophies, the list is endless. China is now one of the most ecomicly stable and strongest countries in the world.
@dlwitness More nternational businesses are looking for partnerhips with China and many Universities and Colleges are recommending learning how to speak mandarin. A lot of the innovations are from China, people don't realize it or just don't take the time to do some research.
@dlwitness Seems like you people are bashing China over a anime that has overall been successful. Anime is very popular these days, companies see that and want to adapt. Anime is art and art is not limited to one culture. There is a certain look to anime characters changing that look one could argue it to be anything but anime. This is anime inspired work and anime originated in Japan. It's like asking Americans why are your accupunture procedures so similar to the ones in China?
@idunki Well the acupuncture actually came from south east Asia which was around Thailand and VietNam, but long ago when the old shitty Chinese invading those countries, they learned stuff from that, also the foods and cultures, even religions. And know what ? years later they claimed all of that belonged to them, and who 'd listen to the small countries ? Nowaday Chinese buying fresh fruits from Asean with high prices and selling poisonous fruits n foods from china with cheap prices, who cares?
@dlwitness This appears to be a case of extreme nationalism, coupled with sinophobia. China has been influenced by other cultures, but the educated have recognized that nations in the sinosphere were heavily influenced by Chinese culture. Also, China is a developing nation and does not possess the money to purchase costly fruits from other nations and sell their own goods cheap; your logic is absurd and ludicrous.
@dlwitness However, kudos to you for doing research of some form; acupuncture did not originate in China. Other cultures, far from the sinosphere of influence, practiced acupuncture before it was adopted in China. Other nations of the sinosphere have influenced the development of acupuncture; I am not certain what to make of your bold claim. Despite this, China is the nation that has developed the treatment to the science known today.
@Rowannia True, you are right and I believe at that time those medicine developers working thousands years ago, it wasn't even China, there were a lot countries that weren't been united into one country, like China nowaday, so basically China wasn't the 1st country that developed medical treatments, those countries who did that don't exist anymore, China is just happened to be there now, a big countries, few talents, a lot bastards and copycats, causing disasters n sickness to everyone.
@Rowannia I would be fine if they didn't claim everything belonged to them since they copied it from someone else, and you should know, what happened in china, no matter bad nor good, they never lost being sues, because their government supports them to be thiefs and copycats rather than being creators, they are invading vietnam and asean countries by taking their sea area right after finished taking HongKong and Tibet, and one more, ppl in there hated to belong to China.
@dlwitness I hate to get sucked into another internet argument regarding racism, but I am seriously SO sick of everybody hating on the Chinese. Yes, China has a communist government; but despite what most American textbooks have people think, communism is not all bad. It reinforces the concept of sharing what we have. And no, China does not have copyright issues, because the idea over there is to 'share' resources, knowledge, etc, instead of copyrighting it and saying it belongs to one person.
@dlwitness And saying that the Chinese aren't 'creators' is utterly laughable. I'm willing to bet that the chair you're sitting in is made in China, unless you purposely picked a chair made from a different country due to your racist mindset. China never took Hong Kong or Tibet either; Hong Kong and Tibet were always a part of China. By your own logic, the Americans 'taking back' the South during the civil war was also unjust, and people in the South must hate belonging to the U.S. too.
@goozgav Seems like you people are bashing China over a anime that has overall been successful. Anime is very popular these days, companies see that and want to adapt. Man, I feel like such a dolt. Those are guys are using state of the art Chinese chess bracelets and here i am using cardboard boards and wooden pieces like a sucker. I don't even have a duel disk.
u klnow, the jap styles originally came from china same with korea, unfortunately, japanese have introduced it to the world first, therefore, making it look like it was from japan!
... this isn't bad for a chinese animation xD i can't believe they used chinese chess though. Then again, there's some pretty good anime out there based on stuff like go (hikari no go! :-D)
This is on the level of Beyblade as far as animation goes. Pretty good. Most Chinese animation I've seen have been pretty bad, so I'm kind of impressed.
I wish more cartoons would make traditional games seem as interesting as this show does.
@hijikatachizuru this is called cultural influence, it is just like the japanese derived their culture from china in the past, do u think that was a copy?
very very very japanese... so sad Chinese anime and Korean anime are too heavily influenced by japanese anime. they should try to seek out their own styles :/
I am chinese, and i understand what they are talking about and half of the subs are wrong! o_O Also i actually have the chinese chess game(Xiangqi) ! ^-^
one thing that annoys me about chinese animation is that most chinese animation has horrible lip sync. The classic 1979 Chinese Animation, NeZha Riots the Seas had spectacular animation, but the mouth movements were completely off.
manga and anime is only for the creativly advantaged....like the japanese...i wouldnt mind this if there was a better story and better animation and characters
If this is the standard of Chinese animation today, there is still a long way to go. I think the voice actors still need to take a pointer or two from Japanese seiyuus.
I think with the richness of Chinese culture, it should be chicken job for creators to come up with original ideas.
I didn't find it kind of weird when I went from Spanish Latino/English voices to Japanese voice because it was a different language, but that Chinese intro.song totally blew me off. I mean, I don't think I can stick to this one bit.
Uhh, wait, that is chinese chess??? I mean, instead of moving his king upwards just to get owned, he could've moved his king to the side to kill off the soldier. Wait, what??? New rules in chinese chess???
This anime is only for people who can understand Chinese, Japanese and Korean..... If you can't understand them (there are no official subs for this anime) you can always just watch for fun...(find the website on your own because i not bothered in writing the website). Don't like the anime then don't watch it simple as that, so stop spamming. it's a good anime and i think you
This looks extremely Japanese, if I didn't see the "Chinese anime" title, I would no doubt have thought that China just put a Chinese song for the opening
@JF101CAL Japan doesn't OWN the style of art you see here. There's Chinese anime, Korean anime, Tai anime, and many others. Fanboy need to get your head out of your butt and realize that the world is much larger than some puny island in the central pacific.
@JF101CAL replying late) but still even if it didn't say "chinese anime" the fact that their playing chinese chess sould tell you it's chinese of if not that they are speaking chinese. [not very good chinese dub though] fat kid is annoying
hahaha im in Australia, and we don't have any Chinese television shows here. I mean like to see them, nice getting something different here, but yeah, we don't have too many Far Eastern cartoons.
So do you know where I can get englished sub copies of this show?
For those who are truly interested in it; it was aired on CCTV on 2008 for a short period of time. (and unofficially it was said the show hit highest rating on CCTV's animation category). So, if you would like to watch it again, write to CCTV and request them to broadcast it again. or write to your local station to play it
I absolutely love the opening song! It seems so lost and yet so deep at 0:20 but hey, I don't understand it so who knows what the song could be saying. =D
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You know what the chinese should do for their anime they should make anime versions of their martial arts stars like Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee,Jet li, Zhang Ziyi, etc.
or better yet an adaptation to Stephen Chows comedy movies like Shoalin Soccer or Kung Fu Hustle.
It would be a lot more interesting if this didn't look like just another cookie cutter carbon copy Yugioh/pokemon/bakugan/digimon/megaman/everythingelse ripoff. What happened to originality?
wtf this is worse than worst japanese anime

So do you know where I can get englished sub copies of this show?

How did you know about this Chinese anime or something...?
narf1139 2 years ago
Just found it while digging around.
like watching anime such as Hikaru no go and Yu-gi-oh, love watching anime where some one plays a game and challenges other characters!

Just write an email to your local TV station and ask them to air the show. They might even dub the show into English.

hahahaa that would be awesome!
Imagine hearing mandarin on a cartoon in an Australian tv segment... woah!

Play "Relapse" by Jeffery A. Krueger, nice video!

This comment has received too many negative votes show
You know what the chinese should do for their anime they should make anime versions of their martial arts stars like Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee,Jet li, Zhang Ziyi, etc.
or better yet an adaptation to Stephen Chows comedy movies like Shoalin Soccer or Kung Fu Hustle.

It would be a lot more interesting if this didn't look like just another cookie cutter carbon copy Yugioh/pokemon/bakugan/digimon/megaman/everythingelse ripoff. What happened to originality?

The first anime-esque show that the Chinese create... and it looks like Bakugan: Chinese Chess edition.
