  • I always thought he was saying golden globe... I knew i was wrong I just could never figure it out... anyway thanks for the song

  • Over the years, Paul has been more of astoryteller than most. I love his use of common things, to make his point, even while bashing you in the face with his opinion, you feel like he's trying to be your best friend!

  • R.I.P. Kodak

  • Yup, agreed with @PeaceLoveRockabilly , 2:36 to the end!

  • Kodak is about to file chapter 11. As this photographic icon vanish into history, Paul Simon's song will become a tribute to a nostalgic, distant memory.

  • I think I'm going to be buying this CD

  • My photog.instructor class in Atlanta was blasting this song when we walked in for our last class. We actually used Kodachrome slides.

  • @sb2244 I couldn't agree with you more.

  • LOVE THIS SONG!

  • I love Paul Simon. He's the seamless embodiment of American folk rock.

  • he wrote some of the greatest songs of all time

  • @selatik1 lmao me too

  • Why did the Poster put "Lyrics" in all of the Paul Simon songs, w/o putting the lyrics??? Paul Simon's lyrics aren't too difficult to figure out, but why the hell would you false advertise???---AHOLE

  • @jacobmgeorge The lyrics are in the description. Which in my opinion is alot better than putting it in the video.

  • paul simpson u rock the fuckin wold u can sing

  • SOME OF THE BEST OF PAUL SIMON. WAS ALWAYS A CLASS ACT. . .STILL IS.

  • this song could have been great. someone should have punched him in the gut right before he started the double-time "mamma don't take my kodachrome" part. the piano outro is nice though.

  • if you took all the girls i met jn my life and put them in one room i'd peep through the keyhole and i'd get this feeling in my bollocks that you get when you get into a hot bath but it would'nt go away know what i mean?

  • Your Mama didn't take Kodachrome away... Kodak did... :(

  • I always thought he was saying 'mama's gonna take my clothes and throw'em away'

  • I love Kodachrome; nice bright colors. It's a shame we think digital cameras produce better results.

  • One of the best songs ive ever heard

  • YESS!!!! ive been searching for this song for a long fuckin time. lol I'm so happy right now.

  • @chism26

He didnt mean when you're alone in your room lookin at your posters

  • I remember when this song came out - Kodak actually filed a lawsuit against Paul! Then someone wised up and realized it was free advertising for their product. They quickly settled with Simon, and all they required was a disclaimer on future pressings of the album and single that Kodachrome was a registered trade mark and was used by permission.

  • I love your music Paul Simon, you've given so many good memories.

  • When I think back on all the crap i learned in high school, it's a wonder i can think at all.

    music is awesome! :D

  • How sad is it that there is an entire generation of young people out there that have no idea what this song is about? =(

  • I can still (probably) run a 35mm strip around a carousel, in the dark, and lock it in the tank. Turn the light on, send in the developer, fixer, water. Hang the strips to dry after squeegy-ing. Turn the light off again. Run off a contact print -choose the best shots, blow them up - develop/fix etc. Then bugger about with the settings to get the desired results........Or I go digital and PhotoShop.

    Oh, thanks for the song.

  • its inposible not to tap ones foot to this song

  • listen the way it starts with that guitar then the keyboard falls on top and cruises on , just great song structure

  • 5 people use digital cameras and or Ilford, AGFA, Konica, Fuji or Walgreens brand. K-14 baby!

  • @apeshitdig finally someone gets it (and Simon and Garfunkle's cookie jar...)

  • @budnboston Chocolate cookies to cover the green color:-)

  • @apeshitdig the greens of summer and all those "nice bright colors"

  • @budnboston

lol...yeah...'put it in your pantry with your cupcakes' ;)

  • Kodachrome 64 and Kodachrome 64 Professional 135 format were discontinued in June 2009. The last emulsion batch was numbered 1563, labeled with an expiration date of November 2010.

Kodachrome is the trademarked brand name of a type of color reversal film that was manufactured by Eastman Kodak starting in 1935. On June 22, 2009, Kodak announces that it will discontinue sales of the Kodachrome Color Film, concluding its 74-year run as a photography icon.

  • They just don't make music (or photo film) like this anymore.

  • @thebackupgoaltender They do make music like this still; it's just not on the radio. Also, there are still plenty of pro-photographers that shoot film--they just probably are using Velvia instead.

  • All the FUCKING crap I learned in highschool.

  • its funny cause i actually just graduated from the same H.S. he did

  • @ACDCv5150III cool story bro

  • 5 people got there cameras away

  • everything looks WORSE in black and white. <--best line in song

    OK? WHAT?

  • Hey, where are the lyrics? Why don't i see lyrics?

    OK? WHAT?

  • Hey, where are the lyrics?

  • "They'd never match my sweet imagination, Everything looks worse in black in white....Give us the greens of summer, makes you think all the world's a summer day" I absolutely adore this song. Takes me back to college, driving my first car with this playing, TY for posting it.

  • "They'd never match my sweet imagination, Everything looks worse in black in white....Give us the greens of summer, makes you think all the world's a summer day" I absolutely adore this song. TY for posting it.

  • this song makes me feel so many good feelings

  • what is a Kodachrome?

  • @Music4Mel97 A color film.

  • @Music4Mel97 Oh man...you really know how to make someone feel OLD!! Kodachrome is the trademarked brand name of a type of color reversal film that was manufactured by Eastman Kodak from 1935 to 2009. Kodachrome was the first successfully mass-marketed color still film using a subtractive method, in contrast to earlier additive "screenplate" methods such as Autochrome and Dufaycolor, and remained the oldest brand of color film.

  • @Music4Mel97 a color reversal film

  • We learned crap?

  • @Yggdrasil710 The idea being that 'education', especially at specific various points in history, and even today, inhibit creativity of individuals. The song is basically about a kid who likes to take color pictures, and he fears his 'mama' is going to take it away from him. Thus crushing what he wants to do. 'It's a wonder I can think at all' is to say that 'education' really doesn't educate, it indoctrinates.

  • TAKES ME BACK...USED TO HEAR THIS ON THE CAR RADIO WHEN I WAS LITTLE. THANX FOR TAKING ME BACK!

  • This song has played an endless loop through my head since I started using the Google Chrome browser two weeks ago. Mama don't take my Google Chrome, Mama don't take my Google Chrome awaaaay.....

  • NIKON! not Canon they Suck

  • I grew up listening to this song and still love it 40 years later

  • Loved to see the negative films of Kodak when the machine took photographs, when i was a young boy.

  • When I think of all the crap i learned in High School, I want to go back and learn a lot more of the same :).

  • "i got a canon camera i love to take a photograph..."

  • Great song. Too bad they took his Kodachrome away. :(

  • Peacekeeper by Fleetwood Mac sounds a lot like this song. Listen to the chorus of both and see if you agree.

  • 3 people must have liked the crap they learned in high school!

  • GOOD SAWNG.

  • ya 'all are messed up.

    Kodachrome rocks the beast

  • Listen to the incredible craft of this song. Sometimes I wonder how Simon did it. :)
