  • jeffrey loria blows... he shouldve kept cabrera... thanks to him, in part, the tigers are gonna win the division in a dew days

  • howd that work out

basically u traded miggy for han ram since dtrain and all the other prospect busted. its not a bad trade

  • technically the marlins made a good move. Now I love Dontrelle (my favorite player and idol) but the trade was worth it. Cameron Maybin is like the next Griffey, and Andrew Miller has the stuff to be an ace.

  • comin from a phillies fan this guy is by far my fav player of all time!

great grand slam today miggy, 6 rbi's keep it up!

  • OMG I WAS SCREAMING!! I LOVE MIGUEL!!

  • Maybin hit .500 in his stint with the Marlins this September, and he'll definitely be the starting centerfielder next year. Miller will probably make the rotation next year if Olsen is not offered arbitration. Cabrera was pretty good this season and Willis hopefully might be able to regain his former self, but it's unlikely. I'd say so far that the trade is pretty even right now.

  • actually, Maybin hit .800 in his time with the Marlins last Sept. but hey! whos keeping track eh? lol :)

  • Willis = Big dissapointment but we didn't really expect him to be top notch either.

Miggy was too at first but now he's on fire. 17HR with 67 RBI's isn't too bad. Had 6 RBI's tonight.

Hope the Marlins are enjoying guys like Mike Rabello and Andrew Miller. How's Miller doing this year anyways? *sarcasm* He was bad in Detroit and just as bad in Florida.

  • Idk with this new stadium deal well start to keep our players (Hopefully). Besides Miggy and Dontrelle are Huge dissapointments. Willis is in single A for crying out load. And Miggy jujst isnt the same Miggy he was in FLA. Besides look at the standings. FLA -willis and Miggy= compete Det+Miggy and willis =SUCKY

  • I would rather have Cabrera then Ramirez!

Period, and anyone who says different is an idiot!

  • I don't think this trade is as bad as its made out to be. Yes, Detroit got the better part of the deal. I think Dontrelle's best years are behind him, he's had so many problems with his control and velocity and now health problems on top of that. And maybe the Marlins knew they would lose Cabrera to free agency (whether they were willing to pay or not) and they figured they might as well try to get something for him.

  • lol and the marlins r in 1st place..

  • 2-8 ha

  • i hate loria he ruined the expos hes mostly the reason why we're not a franchise anymore

  • i don't blame you for not watching the marlins anymore, if they traded miggy and dtrain its only a matter of time before they trade hanley, in 03 they had a team, and let it collapse without a fight, its a shame.

why get another stadium if your not going to pay the price to keep your talent and build around it

  • the marlins trade for young talent and about 4 years after that young talent has sprung into an allstar, they throw them away because of expense. its just an everlasting cycle and it pisses the fans off

  • maybin was good

  • if anything Detroit won this deal

  • agreed, maybin is very very raw, and andrew miller is a bust. dont know about eulogio de la cruz and all the other guys though.

  • maybin was way to young for the bigs, but andrew miller was good but whatever he turns out to be is what dontrelle willis is right now

  • Don't worry three years from now we're going to be beasts!!!

  • wow your GM sucks, why would you trade future hall of fame players for prospects, thanks though. "Team to beat 08"

  • "wow your GM sucks, why would you trade future hall of fame players for prospects, thanks though. "Team to beat 08"

It looks like Florida's GM was pretty wise to get rid of Willis & Cabrera. Willis can't throw strikes and Cabrera has been hugely disappointing. Both are a bust and the team is one of the worst in MLB. Not the "team to beat in '08". It is the team YOU beat easily in '08.

I wish we could take that trade back, along with Rentarea for Jurjjens to Atlanta.

  • WOW! youre right, all of this hype and the marlins are in first place, and the tigers are in last, BUT, we will heat up

  • yeah our team isnt bad, we are just young

we have a great infield, and our outfield just got better

jacobs at first, uggla at second, hanley at s.s., and we're thinking of signing jorge cantu for third base

with willingham, hermida, and now maybin our outfield spot doesnt have a hole in it,

the only problem is if we are ready with our starting pitching

  • We still have Hanley and Uggla and Jacobs...and Amezaga, and don't forget Hermida, who really turned it around in the second half of 07. Maybin and Miller have bright futures too. We just have to worry about starting pitching...is Scott Olsen mature enough to be the No. 1 starter??

  • If you want the Marlins to survive in Florida, then go to the friggin games. A new ballpark is finally becoming a reality. Trading Miggy and D-Train sucked, yes, it really sucks...but you have to o to the games anyway or the franchise will die like the Expos.

  • went to plenty of games

  • dude you call yourself a marlins fan

    you disgust me

you just jumped on the bandwagon in 03 prolly and now you dont know what the hell to do

if you call yourself a fan dont go badmouthing them to the entire world, dumbass

  • im happy i disgust you. i think ill shout to the entire world some more now.

  • i live in miami and i like the marlins but they're cheap as hell. willis n cabrera for minor leaguers? thats a stupid ass trade. we aint got no third baseman and we also aint got a dominating pitcher. the marlins will be last in the NL east next year. i say they go 65-97 in 2008.

  • So I searched for Jews and Nazis and this showed up....I think the Tigers made out in this trade but I also think Marlins fans have no idea who Maybin and Miller are...but yeah, the Marlins do have a weird tendency to trade young players for even younger players.

  • lmao

  • No Stadium no long term contracts. Sad to see them go but untill the Marlins get a stadium they will never hold any All-Star players. Season Ticket Holders is what we need. The Marlins have the best deals in the majors. We need fans to get off their ass and just go to the games. You dont have to go to all of them but at least 10 games a season. I bought the 28 game plan last year and Im buying it again this year.

  • ive heard that stadium is real close. did any else see how there plannin a 20,000 seat soccer stadium next to the marlins field? anyone have details about that?

  • Let's just focus on Detroit's biggest problem right now.

    Firing Millen!

  • Go Tigers baby!!!!

  • GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dont be 2 sure about miguel cabrera leaving the marlins on Dec 7th,they sed that Miguel would be better playing sumwhere else but i doubt hes returning 2 florida itll be a miracle if he returns 2 florida, but whichever team Cabrera goes 2 ill be a fan of that team cuz Miguel Cabrera iz my favorite MLB player! Miguel Cabrera Rox!

  • that was a pathetic trade actually, lets just see if they do any good in like 5 years with those rookies lol.

  • screw all you guys. you dont understand. cabrera and willis, they were our team. who do we have now? ramiarez, he's our identity. and obviously i wouldnt no who the people we got in the trade because i dont get a fuck about the tigers.

  • newb

  • your opinion doesnt count now go to bed u have school at 7:30 tommorow

  • newb

  • I'm a Die-Hard Tigers fan and I'm not that thrilled over this trade. I loved Rabelo as a backup and time will only tell what kind of players Maybin and Miller will turn into but I thought they looked good, and also Cruz looked awesome last spring and I think he will be the guy who turns into an elite pitcher in MLB.

  • You take Rabelo over Willis and Cabrera?

  • When did I say that?

  • How can you not be thrilled! We just got two proven all stars (mind you this trade was mainly for Miggy, Willis is just icing on the cake) and we traded away a bunch of kids who MIGHT be stars. Mr. I and DD know what they're doing, just have faith.

Btw, De La Cruz was good but he has big issues finding the strike zone. Unless he throws accurately then he'll be in the minors for a while.

  • ordealbyfire is exactly right you fucking moron,

    is an awesome trade

im from detroit, so welcome to the motor city guys!

  • Worst trade in history? Are you stupid? Do you know anything about baseball? Do you know who Cameron Maybin or Andrew Miller are? Maybin is expected to be the next Griffey Jr., and Miller could be another Randy Johnson. Rabelo's good too. It was a pretty even trade, although I question Willis's real pitching ability. His last two years have not been good. But hell. Cabrera? The Tigers officially have the best offensive team in all of baseball. They just need to work on their bullpen.

  • Detroit wants to win NOW! But Cabrera and Willis are already proven players. World Series Champions and they're only 25 and 26 yrs. old! They should improve!

The youngsters they traded to Florida have potential. But, potentials doesn't get it done. You must perform. Besides, I heard Miller has a problem with his delivery causing problems with his arm or something.

  • just what i love to hear..

  • Glad I could help out.

  • err i have no come back..DAMN THE MARLINS

  • You guys have won two World Series in the past ten years. I don't feel bad for you.

  • welcome to motown.

  • Please tell how the Marlins just went from sad to pathetic...
