@seancoppinger What about them? I will say this though, after watching the 2nd part I can't take any of this serious. Open hand slaps, >50% kicks & knees, and weak takedown attempts made this look like an exhibition rather than a true tournament or "real fight".
A good fight, the Aikido guy may have a dwalf limb....something is always overlooked is the impact of western boxing on the eastern arts. Aikido is a internal art in many respects and it will add value to any style or type of martial artist. Yes it is Aikido because Aikido is Aikido in the way of Zen...its like saying is it MMA or isn't it or is it more this than that the reality it is all MMA because it is a MMA match.
@Rnt911 have some respect he had only one arm he keeped on try didnt give up and showed true fighter sprit. MMA may have a good concept but the eastern traditional arts have much better philsophiy
@BoarsofWar mma does use eastern martial aets such as muay thai or judo or even brazilian jujuitsu which birth from judo is is consist of ground move from both judo annd jujuitsu so how would it be different..
for a one handed aikido practitioner it's a very good fight. Let a completely abled aikido man in this fight and we will see a big difference. Every fighter is unique and no supreme art exists only a better fighter.
@atlantafalconz1 aikido doesn't suck, it's actually one of the best martial arts, thsi guy in the video obviously doesn't know aikido or maybe he is just beggining to learn it, a real aikido master would've kicked his ass in 10 seconds
@luison410 lmao, you mean a real pankration student. lol, aikido, like many other martial arts, is a lot of show... they all train as if they where going against a lifeless dummy... then, when they get into a situation like this... they fight like this. pankration, and a select few other fight styles, actually trains you in many different situations, to fight as if your opponent where real... not an art.
why are all you trolls hating on this guy? he's missing an arm. Not everyone is ready to fight for the belt you twerps. let him do his thing. He doesn't go to your job and slap the dicks out of your mouths.
lol that MMA fighter is weak shit learning several martial arts but fights like shit, A person without an arm in a fight loses about 50% of his fighting abilities . even if its taekwondo u still have to use ur hands.
AIKIDO IS ABOUT JOINT LOCKING YOUR OPPONENT INTO SUBMISSION, WHICH THE GUY IN THE ABOVE VIDEO IS NOT DOING AT ALL. HE MIGHT BE AN AIKIDOKA BUT HE IS NOT PERFORMING AIKIDO WHAT SO EVER!

@FeuerFrei55555 who is to say what aikido really is? aikido is harmony. aikido is understanding all ways of the world and working in harmony with it to find our own way. our very osensei combined many arts to find his own way. why not try to find out own way through him?
@jin54363 This is an MMA match, not a family demonstration. You adapt your style to the situation. This is most definitely Aikido, it just looks different because of the opponent.
@alansovanog Is that why Aikido isn't used by any major fighters? I respect your comment, and i try to respect all people, but the reason traditional martial arts WILL die just like boxing WILL die, is because MMA is the evolution of fighting, plain and simple.
@zacktillery hey i love your outlook but i just want to make a small correction and i say this a lot so i hope this gives you a different perspective. Traditional martial arts were designed to kill. they were not designed for competition. Aikido was a combat style designed to disarm an armored samurai. The armor means movement limitation. Either way traditional martial arts teach to hit groin eyes throat ect. mma teaches rules. thats why its not the evolution of combat but the evolution of sport
@irecordtomuch I like your outlook as well, lots of truth. :) I was a little agressive, first off, and i apologize, but my opinion still stands. Like you said, mainly to disarm UKE (yes i know that word haha) in armor and on horses. Even more basic than Aikido, is the bow and arrow version of Aikido. They taught very abstract weapons and such, although it is EXTREMEMLY hard to find evidence of this. I find eye gouges and groin grabs ineffective on the streets as well. Too much limitation.
@zacktilleryI have studied Aikido for a long time and can tell you the art is an art that is designed to use an opponents strengths and movements against himself. A proper trained Aikidoka will no doubt win any challenge he is faced.(Mind you I said a well trained Aikidoka,I don't mean any black belt, as the black belt is the beginning point for ones learning not the pinnacle) So it is an art that done properly can be amongst the top of arts. Israeli Maga Krav is the best form for MMA fighting!
@zacktillery Aikido is taught to Law Enforcement and military members for the same principals they were rooted from Japanese history, to defend yourself from attack.
To validate it's use for MMA is like comparing apples to oranges. There are several MMA fighters that have a strong background in Aikido but they can only use but a few methods in the format MMA influences.
@zacktillery Logic of Aikido for MMA is not an art you would watch for entertainment. It was an art created for one purpose, to defend oneself from death once off horseback.
MMA judges score rounds on a 10 point system based on aggressiveness, ring control, strikes landed, etc; timidness or avoiding the fight in the ring can cause a reduction in points; small joint manipulation is illegal;
From this, its easy to see that Aikido differs from MMA and creates a product to suit its structure.
@sheepdog1x I'll agree that since you cannot use single-joint manipulation, aikido loses its luster in the ring, so to speak. However, i'd say that even if you placed a master of the ground versus a master of aikido together, you'd have a very hurt aikidoka. Techniques might work against a uneducated gentlemen on the street, and even then you'd have to be VERY good at it, but would not work on an educated gentlemen.
@zacktillery Not sure what your definition of a master of the ground is but Aikido techniques are designed to work against the most educated fighters in Japan, not street fighters. That is why it is known as an art to produce adverse results.
@sheepdog1x Yet you never see it. That being my main point. I don't doubt its FULL effectiveness against uneducated people, but i'll disagree and say that educated fighters would never get caught in a wrist lock or single joint lock. Just my opinion i guess. :)
lol, mma my ass. that guy cant even do a proper double leg, high crotch single to double or single leg takedown. and when he had side control, coulda done von flue choke
@theFum6duck lol Not everybody in the fucking world is George St. Pierre. If a martial art works on 90% of people trying to use MMA, then it works. Though in this case, I saw no Aikido either...just a guy trying to slap the other guy and then eventually doing MMA also.
Whatever the Aiki guy is doing, it's pretty amazing he can hold his ground with a single arm. I'm not quite sure how well he would do against a real oponent.
“Sensei, does aikido also have kicking techniques?”
“You fool! What do you mean by such a question? We use kicking techniques or anything else. I even used artillery. Martial arts, guns and artillery are all aikido. What do you think aikido is? Do you think it involves only the twisting of hands? "
@sethers200 you don't know what you're talking about "bruh"... There is striking in Aikido for purpose of feel of a committed attack for the Uke as well as the Tori, otherwise it turns into dancing, not a martial art. Shomen, Shomen-Uchi, Tsuki and all other types of Kata are used in Aikido. Don't know what pussy variant of Aikido you guys know of or practice.
the problem with mma, is that people do not realize that mma is not a martial art. it is a sport which utlizes martial arts. due to the ignorance of many of its fans, they try to bash martial arts, saying they put mma down. they are wrong. mma has no set style, and has forbidden certian techniques, to prevent permanent injuries. remember that mma is simply 2 martial artists fighting. their skill levels depend on the individual in question.
nicely done aikido man!! two thumbs up!!! even with one hand he dominated and slaped the guy around. REMEMBER GUYS ITS NOT THE MARTIAL ART , ITS THE PERSON, OR HOW DO THAY SAY IN THE STATES, ITS NOT THE SIZE OF THE DOG IN THE FIGHT ITS THE SIZE OF THE FIGHT IN THE DOG!,
It seems akido is rendered harmless buy someone who understands not to put too much weight into an attack and over extened.
The Akido expert looks more like he is fumbling around with some very poor karate than most of the sensational akido videos we usually see.
Jujitsu is the best a stoping your opponent. Akido can look amazing and vet effective against you usual dumb street thug. However someone who understands throws can render Akido useless.
@Goergebenson .. To say Jujitsu to be the "best" brands you a fool my friend since no art is supereme. When you analyse the variations between the different grappling martial arts of Japan, there is so much similarity to their form. With Aikido, Jujitsu or Judo there is often similar ways to paint one picture.
As you might have seen also, Steven Seagal has been coaching Anderson Silva in recent times for his UFC. Silva being a ruthless and very martial fighter, he's picked up some lethal Aikido.
I think my point stands that aikido is good for defending yourself against people who aren't trained in more aggressive arts.
I think my point also stands that jui jitsu offers a more dynamic and effective approach in dealing with someone who for example does boxing.
With jui jitsu you have ground work and closing down. I can rush a boxer and by getting inside and grabbing him, i have more options and opportunities to disable him.
@OVERCAPITALIZE Same with the MMA people, that is why you see many videos promoting MMA by putting down other arts. People will never learn it seems that it is not the art, but the practitioner which makes a good martial artist.
Yeah.. Just to prove to people that you are the best is by going to a karate school and beat them with karate. Do the same with taekwondo, muay thai, judo, bjj, sambo, boxing. Once you complete all of those at high level such as olympics, you'll be consider the greatest of ALL martial artists and fighter.
@remstyle So you're saying one loss in your gym proves the inferiority of the whole martial art. This video is bullshit (what, fabricated?) because you saw A guy lose to your MMA trainer. I love this logic.
@DeanPMA He has one arm you fucking idiot. Locks and throws work well against "a real opponent". Its called Jiu Jitsu. And they teach it in MMA/UFC and that's about as real as it gets.
@757killer757 I at least wanted to see a real fight not a comedy act. But then again this isn't to far off........yeah screw it. put steven segal in there.
I dont think that guy does mma i think he got a flat on his ten speed out front of the gym and they promised to give a ride home if he could beat a one armed old man!
akido??jesus christ sucks. no one person in history was ever that dirty looking and wore such dirty close. those feet ugh, someone should have told him about marty's shoes, cover those nasty things up
@chulainer didn`t you notice that the aikido teacher doesn´t have his left arm? now just imagine what that guy would be able to do with his 2 arms, and if you want to comfirm your theory, why dont you go to an aikido class so that you live in your own flesh how it feels that someone makes you a submission? i think your theory is shit, you should be a little more informed before posting crap
@lololilolalo i didn' t explain myself clear. What i want to say is that aikido is a beautiful art. Useful as every art. In an aikido class they teach u to be an uke, the person that u see in the video is not an uke. U see the difference? the result: there's no aikido move. NONE. The only aikido thing that i see is that black skirt.
Just proves that it is not the martial art but the practitioner, I'm sure most MMA fighters would think they could easily take out an Aikido practitioner, but this fight went into overtime AND the Aikidoka only has one arm!!!! Respect!
The "aikido" guy does absolutely no aikido. I doubt he has any aikido training at all. Did well enough in the match, but there is zero aikido to be seen here.
if he had two arms he could do aikido , aikido with one arm is not aikido , but respect for him many mans or aikidoka wouldn't fight even with two arms , and he fight with only one arm this man is a true warrior !
I beleive that he was an early blackbelt ,i didnt see many attempts to make submission i saw a lot of yokoman strikes to the mma fighters head but no moves
This "MMA fighter" has extremely low level jiu jitsu. He doesn't understand how to sweep from the guard or shrimp his hips or stop the slam, Any blue belt would spank this aikido guy. But much respect for the 1 arm thing far better than most aikido guys not pointing any fingers at steven segal
Notice when the fight starts out, the fighter in traditional clothing is throwing knife hand strikes & looking for irimi nage throws. But then It quickly turns into what looks more like an NHB /wrestling & judo match.
you dont lift ur feet from the mats in aikido this is not aikido go to a club and see

que yo sepa, la filosofia del aikido no es pelear, solo defenderse, y ... el otro peleador no sabe pelear...

1minute in and I'm thinking "is this MMA fighter getting his ass handed to him by a 1-armed old guy?"
manodeldios666 3 months ago
This is no kind of aikido that I recognise.
philwoodford 3 months ago
this is bullshit we had a aikido master challenge our gyms mma trainer an he got KTFO no joke..
remstyle 3 months ago
@remstyle
Regardless if it was aikido.. People still think their "invincible" lol
OVERCAPITALIZE 3 months ago
@OVERCAPITALIZE Same with the MMA people, that is why you see many videos promoting MMA by putting down other arts. People will never learn it seems that it is not the art, but the practitioner which makes a good martial artist.
MrJohnnySharp 3 months ago
@MrJohnnySharp
Yeah.. Just to prove to people that you are the best is by going to a karate school and beat them with karate. Do the same with taekwondo, muay thai, judo, bjj, sambo, boxing. Once you complete all of those at high level such as olympics, you'll be consider the greatest of ALL martial artists and fighter.
OVERCAPITALIZE 3 months ago
@remstyle link or it didn't happen..
Kaveo415in 3 months ago
@remstyle So you're saying one loss in your gym proves the inferiority of the whole martial art. This video is bullshit (what, fabricated?) because you saw A guy lose to your MMA trainer. I love this logic.
witchwhatwho 3 months ago
@remstyle this aikido blackbelt only has one arm tho.

kkkkkkkkkkk , o cara e tao foda que nao da pra ver que ele nao tem 1 braço .
33610206 3 months ago
lol at the aikido, what happen to all the locks and throws, don't work real well against a real opponent, only in the movies or demos
DeanPMA 3 months ago
@DeanPMA He has one arm you fucking idiot. Locks and throws work well against "a real opponent". Its called Jiu Jitsu. And they teach it in MMA/UFC and that's about as real as it gets.
sysity 3 months ago
@sysity, while you are playing online games I'm training.....

@DeanPMA Training as in typing bullshit comments on youtube

@DeanPMA Or when you have one arm. Doesn't work real well then either.

757killer757 3 months ago
@757killer757 I at least wanted to see a real fight not a comedy act. But then again this isn't to far off........yeah screw it. put steven segal in there.

This not aikido nor is it mixed martial arts. I will tell you it is just sad.
commo842001 3 months ago
I dont think that guy does mma i think he got a flat on his ten speed out front of the gym and they promised to give a ride home if he could beat a one armed old man!
jwattsx3 4 months ago
why is the Aikido guy fighting in the first place when I took Aikido the entire point was to not hurt the other person...?
filthyfun 4 months ago

I have the most respect for Aikido. The theorey is all revolving around ballance mental and physical.

if thats an mma fighter then im bruce lee
mesternod 4 months ago
The saddest part of this is that if you wanted to see Aikido in action (MMA - etc) and you youtubed it - you'd get this.

i didn't see no even one aikido move. My theory that aikido is useless in a real fight is confirm.
chulainer 4 months ago
@chulainer didn`t you notice that the aikido teacher doesn´t have his left arm? now just imagine what that guy would be able to do with his 2 arms, and if you want to comfirm your theory, why dont you go to an aikido class so that you live in your own flesh how it feels that someone makes you a submission? i think your theory is shit, you should be a little more informed before posting crap
lololilolalo 4 months ago
@lololilolalo i didn' t explain myself clear. What i want to say is that aikido is a beautiful art. Useful as every art. In an aikido class they teach u to be an uke, the person that u see in the video is not an uke. U see the difference? the result: there's no aikido move. NONE. The only aikido thing that i see is that black skirt.
chulainer 4 months ago
@chulainer mmm... you are right, however it still difficult to make aikido moves with only one arm man
lololilolalo 4 months ago
Just proves that it is not the martial art but the practitioner, I'm sure most MMA fighters would think they could easily take out an Aikido practitioner, but this fight went into overtime AND the Aikidoka only has one arm!!!! Respect!

我覺得這位老者雖然只有一條手臂,但精神可嘉,比起很多大師,他反而更令我敬佩。但為什麼他得到的不是掌聲,而是惡評?
puba0810 4 months ago
The "aikido" guy does absolutely no aikido. I doubt he has any aikido training at all. Did well enough in the match, but there is zero aikido to be seen here.

This "MMA fighter" has extremely low level jiu jitsu. He doesn't understand how to sweep from the guard or shrimp his hips or stop the slam, Any blue belt would spank this aikido guy. But much respect for the 1 arm thing far better than most aikido guys not pointing any fingers at steven segal
iceman250582 5 months ago
@iceman250582 its not he has poor level of jj its just the old man has really good sense of balance and control of his base
z3r006 4 months ago
@z3r006 I didn't argue that but the guys jiu jitsu is horrible still the same.
iceman250582 4 months ago
hey ...now i respect this old cat..atleast hes fighting someone thats not cooperating.

This doesnt give me much confidence in Aikido
rrwryan 5 months ago
if the aikido person have 2 hand, can u imagine hows the MMA fighter survive?
kudud29 5 months ago
Notice when the fight starts out, the fighter in traditional clothing is throwing knife hand strikes & looking for irimi nage throws. But then It quickly turns into what looks more like an NHB /wrestling & judo match.

aikido with one arm is extremly hard
