I like your voice but this song isn't an upbeat song. If you've ever read the lyrics you would know that it's about saying that you would kill yourself for your lover if they were to die alone, because true love lives on.

Of course I've read the words, my interpretation of them is one in millions, as is yours.

Personally I wouldn't call it upbeat, but it is an expression of love, more powerful for it's lack of the sugarcoating that often comes with love songs. It presents love as fearless and uncompromising, which may not be the epitome of beauty and positivity, but to me is not a cause for despair either.
