@jungianman GOBSHITE.......he's miles away from anyone....that's the effect of a telephoto lens for you. Reckless and innapropriate...what an old lady comment!
This is a commercial airport with an international reputation to uphold and stunt flying is dangerous otherwise it wouldn't be a stunt! I've been to airshows & thrilled by the antics of the pilots- completely different setting.
My family have been associated with Dublin airport since it opened and have contributed to keeping it commercially viable and safe. I stand by my statement that it was inappropriate & reckless & whoever allowed it should be fired!
@jungianman There's a difference between a controlled aerobatic display, done by a pilot with an official display authorisation and 'stunt flying' you know! He was a long way off any danger there...
A one-off stunt at a busy commercial airport is a problem for lots of reasons. But one of the major reasons is that it brings the whole aviation industry's hard won reputation into disrepute. The travelling public must always feel that we put safety first and have things under control. Just as you'd be uneasy to be unexpectedly overtaken by an F1 racing car on the M1, travellers on the day would have had their confidence in the Airport authorities shaken. Pilots should understand this.
@jungianman You are a gobshite, only another one of those twats from the iaa or caa would have the nerve to say something like that about 'real' flying. Eddie Goggins is the best pilot in the country. Nothing could ever go wrong.
I'm glad I was there when it happened. A few years back I was also present (although it wasn't planned) on the day the last Aer Lingus Boeing flew out of Dublin in Shamrock colours. It's always sad when something like this happens, but let's hope the GA thrives at Weston eh?

Dear All,
I have some questions about psychology:
(1) Why do we enjoy flying?
(2) Why do we feel relax and more optimistic when we are at the airport/airfield?
(3) What is the environmental factor(s) that causes us to feel enjoyable when we are at the airport/airfield?
(4) What do you enjoy most for being at the airport/airfield?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

jungianman, you're an idiot. What do you think happens at airshows?
He was a long way from that airliner. It looked closer because of the forshortening effect of the camera.

Whoever allowed this sort of flying in such close proximity to the public should be fired. It is simply reckless and inappropriate.

You have a point there. I know he was flying along the line of a runway but if he lost power and veered off course who knows what might happen.
