The only help you get from authority is emergency medical/fire cover. In many areas it no longer protects your property or your freedom of speech. I am glad that a few are trying to prepare although I suspect you will be summarily executed as a nuisance to the local authority when it deems itself powerful enough.

When everything goes to shit we will just die, or, suffer and then die. I am not a christian or any other religion and neither am I what you would call liberal. I would like to join a survival group but am concerned about government infiltrates in the group. My father was a infiltrate during the 60's so I know this happens. At the same time I would like to join a group for info and morale support(my family are NOT supportive and think I am a loon). The Church would be the first to give the government our names and addresses. I promise I am not paranoid. I just try to learn skills and educate myself.(Which I know isn't the best case).
well we have our retreat in nc and have about 4 families from our church who are on the same page or like minded like you said .having the same faith is key ,ethics ,supportive also and skills ,you don't want to bring any Liability with you and your family remember folks were talking lives here .i say to us the most important prep is found in Acts 2:38 without this there is really no sense in getting ready .
I love militias. They are good to join. I mean,they are more focused on the military/combat aspect but militias can do many great things. They respond to disasters,they protect our rights against the government,etc. When SHTF,I want to have people that I have come to trust and know that I can fall back on and get the hell out with.Many militia members prep as well.That's why they made the militia.To prepare for anything that may happen where they have to defend themselves/fight.

A hobby - good approach! A hobby that provides exercise. Mostly you just buy what you need anyway and a little more for future use. Gardening is easy - folks should start with a small one - real farming is hard (a farmer already know that).

Newest pandemic guide says you should have at least three months food and water per person. I personally think the 72 hour deal is outdated. Katrina showed you need more than 72 hours. Good vid!
One benefit to having a group is financial, many companies sell items at lower prices, if you can purchase more than you would be able to do alone. I would love to have a group such as that.
I worked temp job for a week for these millionaire book writers. We packed everything in cargos to go to the islands. They are bugging out. I met a lady paking with the same beliefs as mine who have a "community" here in the country. She invited me to check it out. I am thrilled. The Lord is showing me its awesome!
Great video. I have a question relating to the subject on hand. Do you have any tips on convincing isolationist style preppers that do not allow others into their group to allow me some basic contact, so maybe I can convince them I can be a productive member of the group? You do not seem to fit into this catagory of prepper, so I would understand if you have no idea.
Great video..As a wife of a prepper and my Husband just having surgery it is so nice to be apart of a group. we did not go in to the surgery worry what if he can not get right back to work, "Our on WROL situation" because we know we are a part of a great group that will help as much as they can. As well every one from the group call to see how my husband was doing and one of the family's from the group came over and made us dinner and just up lifted my husband...
SouthernPrep1....I was at work last night when Tornados began to touch down around where I live in Mass.....My girlfriend waited in the basement until I got home and after the storms passed she agrees that we need a better plan and atleast some supplies in the basement...did not think it would happen here but thank god it didnt effect my loved ones...we wont be caught off guard again....great vids

One must watch out for the Fake Preppers too, they talk a great game but fall short of actually walking the walk. I'm finding far more of those kind of people today, they have ideas or 'plans' of grouping together but expect everyone else to do the hard work while they 'talk'. Trust is #1 issue & if a person sounds to good to be true - usually it is. Sad to say several 'Preppers' who I've come to know over the years are turning out to be 'all talk'.
Nice post. I very much appreciate you sharing experience here. To me just getting going and networking seems to be one of the more challenging issues of prepping. I imagine some people just give up before they even start. This sounds like a more detailed answer to a recent meeting question.

@resourcefulgirl trust has to be there. But in the process of doing things and helping members we either buy things together to cut the cost down or pack food together or help them move items into where they store their food so we can see what they have or know what they have.

Excellent points.... Many people don't actually practice any worst case scenario's to test themselves. I'll tell you your mindset will completely change instantly.... If I may make a suggestion, just to start slowly, then do this, without warning to your family members, so you can observe what WILL happen..... go flip your main breaker off, in the afternoon.... see what happens.... Only you will know, when they have had enough, then go turn on the breaker.... this more so for the city dwellers.
I have a good friend with a similar prepping mindset. We would both like to be adjoing property owners and prep together. The only problem, we are both still in high school. He plans to go into the military and I plan to do something in the agricultural field. So for now its just brainstorming and throwing around the "what if's". I do what I can with a teenager's paycheck and hope to get more in dept into prepping very soon and that the crap doesn't hit the fan before I'm old enough to help out.
@ThewayIdoit dude read a book calle Patriot. by james wesley rawles. the lead characters of the book all met in college an started their group at that time. they started having meetings an making their retreat/group rules at that time and didnt start the hardcore preps until they all had jobs. read the book tho it should help you with ideas.

People describe it right now as organized chaos. 10,500 + without power , all local ERs are on disaster allert. I stareted prepping about 3 months ago thanks to videos like yours. Im set for 2+ months now for food, got a good med kit, and recently got my first shotgun (870P). Bottling water now. Seriously, thankyou. I am confidently engaged at this point.
YOU ARE NOT A PREPPER. Prepper is a degrading metaphor for being a true American. What I mean by this is when this country started that was the way of life. Americans depend on themselves, not the government. Now the government wants you to depend on them so you have to keep paying them. It's a never ending cycle that will eventually burnout . Prepping has becoming a necessary thing with food prices rising and no end in sight. In short YOU ARE A TRUE AMERICAN! not a perpper.
Excellent video Southernprepper. You make an excellent point. I tell my family & friends all the time, you can point & laugh, call me paranoid...I don't care. I call it "insurance". People pay money every month to insurance companies for the "what if" situation. Well, last I checked there are no insurance companies for a WROL situation. YOU ARE YOUR first line of insurance in that situation.
I live in CT and have been preeping for years my grand father who came up in the depression saved everything and always had enough to support the family for at least one whole year but as I prep cultivating my garden and tending to my chickens and water isn't a problem due to an easily accessible well it forces you to look around and wonder if anything were to happen how many of my friends would I be able to help and wonder why more people do not prep unfortunately we are a rare breed
Wow what a coincidence..right now its 5:00pm in connecticut were Im at and were getting tornadoes heading our way. Im watching it on tv right now. This is something people in CT never see. Ive been prepped but I wonder how many people are not ready for even an alongated shortage of electricity.
One reason I don't make vids is I can guess that whenever you do a video like this, you get 10-20 messages saying that they live in the area and would like to be in your inner circle of people you'd look out for in a WROL situation.

It took some time but I finally got my family to start preparing for a small scale disaster but trying to get them to store a years worth of supplies is hard.So right now I am the only one building a years supplies for 8 people. It is hard to do but after a year of hard work and spending some money I have a years supply of food, now I just need to get more friends involved. Some of the comments family gives? "Things are gettin gbetter, right?" "New stores are opening around where i Live" "boy, I know where WE are staying if things go South." I remind them, NO, YOu need to prepare!! We took hard earned cash and time and EFFORT to get here. Everyone will get 1 LDS Starter kit, after that? Hell., they were WARNED, repeatedly. As 1 poster once stated to me here "Don't cast pearls after Swine" I also am in Medical work and have alot of supplies I have gathered!!
It's hard to bring people on board. They look at you crazy and shit. My family laughs at me for all the shit I have. But they all talk when shit goes down there coming to my house lol empty handed don't think so. Just just find someone, there out there. I got my little cousin who's 16 and teaching him all I know about weapons survival, all the good stuff. Just keeping on prepping and stay alive and never quiet !
I have posted quite a bit about the amount of preps we have and just how long it takes. To get at 2.5 yrs of food storage, it took 14 months. This is because I want VARIETY! The stored Hershey Cocoa ( 60 lbs) will be a nice treat and so will the 15 lbs of semi sweet chocoltae chips we have sealed in the Mason Jars ( with the Food Saver vacuum port attachment)!! We now have a Lee Reloader and we lkike making our ammo, we have 3000 rounds of store bought ammo!! Keep prepping!!
Folks- Among the many, many other instances, I will offer up that I have seen FIRST HAND, here along the Mississippi and Louisiana Gulf Coast how little help there REALLY is in the WEEKS after an emergency occurs... PREP ON!
God knows i tried Warning my brother and best friends to prepare...They looked at me like i had grown 3 heads....I tried several times, I give up, there on there own if SHTF... I have my wife and 2 little girls to look out 4, also my parents that live close...I haven't been prepping long, but am way ahead of most i know and work with ....good luck to all the on your own peppers out there..

I dont bring it up unless someone else does becuase i dont want ppl to know i prep that way on the day the Zompocolyps starts they dont run to me for help. I prep for a survival situation when i go camping, setting traps and stuff. Most everyone will run to me in the end due to military background.
I have a new thought that people who are WROL or SHTF minded, are apart of the problem. Not so much being prepared, but why do many of the prepper or WROLers not stand up to the government and provide civil resistance to the current issues, instead of putting their head in the sand and "prepping". I would like to see people standing up for their country more than worrying about WROL. Just some thoughts...
I would say Trustworthiness is the number 1 factor in grouping up, as prepping is a very privite matter, you dont wanta go sharing info about what your storing to just anyone, "Trust will be the new currency" one needs a tribe or wolfpack, I havent found one yet, (Oregon Coast) one of my favotie topics hope you do more vids on it, TY
The people in my neighborhood would freak out if their cable was on the fritz, let alone if WROL happened. A lot of my friends and family also don't believe a WROL situation could ever happen, but I will still see if there is anyone who's interested.
CAUTION PREPPERS: I prep and have spent a few bucks doing it but I think us GUYS should understand that constantly preparing for "the end" or "worst" is NOT the healthiest thing for a happy marriage. However good our intentions maybe WROL is NOT a positive topic nor does it paint a happy picture for your wife and kids to look forward too and if one obsesses on it others will no doubt feel emotionally betrayed on some level because life is about LIVING. Great info David. The idea of food supply and other prepping baselines is very good to establish with your prepping group/families. It establishes standards and leaves nothing to question or dispute. It's like prepping the preppers...LOL
Networking is tough where I'm at. A third of the population works for or is directly dependent on .gov. OpSec failures have very real political and thus real life consequences. After getting burned a few times I'm reluctant to put my self out there in the open anymore. I use casual reactions to screen out who I bother to even associate with.
Nevertheless I've found a few like-minded folk and have had a couple people approach me with genuine concerns regarding where to start not being dependent.

@sifupintado I know what you mean. I'm having trouble with family and friends alike, to the point that my wife thinks my "hobby" is starting to get out of control. She told me I need to "stop waiting for the end of the world". We were listening to a show and one person said that in the event of a significant disaster, and if a breakdown occured, that many would just "lie down and die" rather than deal with the situation. She said she was one of these. Said she can't live without order.
Apparently it's fashionable to run with the herd and for many people there is fear of what others may think of them. I've experienced some of the same issues though a couple are coming around....Others, well, I still throw an extra bag of rice into stores with them in mind whether they like it or not.

@sifupintado You are not alone in this. Most people are completely clueless as to what may be in store for our country. One of my sisters just told me to stop because it was making her depressed. Typical "head in the sand" situation. They don't want to hear bad news. Society has most people convinced that gov't will bail them out of anything. Katrina should inform otherwise. If your family disrespects you now, they will really hate you when things get bad. Yes, keep your head up and don't stop..

Before I got laid off I tried to convince our first responder team to consider thinking about plans of natural or man-made disasters. They pretty much laughed it off. I spent some time in the military in disaster preparedness and a couple other related positions, I take the possibilities seriously. As we learned on 9-11-2001 the unexpected WILL happen...

I would like to join a survival group but am concerned about government infiltrates in the group. My father was a infiltrate during the 60's so I know this happens. At the same time I would like to join a group for info and morale support(my family are NOT supportive and think I am a loon). The Church would be the first to give the government our names and addresses. I promise I am not paranoid. I just try to learn skills and educate myself.(Which I know isn't the best case).

I love militias. They are good to join. I mean,they are more focused on the military/combat aspect but militias can do many great things. They respond to disasters,they protect our rights against the government,etc. When SHTF,I want to have people that I have come to trust and know that I can fall back on and get the hell out with.Many militia members prep as well.That's why they made the militia.To prepare for anything that may happen where they have to defend themselves/fight.

One benefit to having a group is financial, many companies sell items at lower prices, if you can purchase more than you would be able to do alone. I would love to have a group such as that.

Great video. I have a question relating to the subject on hand. Do you have any tips on convincing isolationist style preppers that do not allow others into their group to allow me some basic contact, so maybe I can convince them I can be a productive member of the group? Great video..As a wife of a prepper and my Husband just having surgery it is so nice to be apart of a group. we did not go in to the surgery worry what if he can not get right back to work, "Our on WROL situation" because we know we are a part of a great group that will help as much as they can. As well every one from the group call to see how my husband was doing and one of the family's from the group came over and made us dinner and just up lifted my husband...

SouthernPrep1....I was at work last night when Tornados began to touch down around where I live in Mass.....My girlfriend waited in the basement until I got home and after the storms passed she agrees that we need a better plan and atleast some supplies in the basement...did not think it would happen here but thank god it didnt effect my loved ones...we wont be caught off guard again....great vids

One must watch out for the Fake Preppers too, they talk a great game but fall short of actually walking the walk. I'm finding far more of those kind of people today, they have ideas or 'plans' of grouping together but expect everyone else to do the hard work while they 'talk'. Trust is #1 issue & if a person sounds to good to be true - usually it is. Sad to say several 'Preppers' who I've come to know over the years are turning out to be 'all talk'.

Excellent points.... Many people don't actually practice any worst case scenario's to test themselves. I'll tell you your mindset will completely change instantly.... If I may make a suggestion, just to start slowly, then do this, without warning to your family members, so you can observe what WILL happen..... go flip your main breaker off, in the afternoon.... see what happens.... Only you will know, when they have had enough, then go turn on the breaker.... this more so for the city dwellers.

I have a good friend with a similar prepping mindset. We would both like to be adjoing property owners and prep together. The only problem, we are both still in high school. He plans to go into the military and I plan to do something in the agricultural field. So for now its just brainstorming and throwing around the "what if's". I do what I can with a teenager's paycheck and hope to get more in dept into prepping very soon and that the crap doesn't hit the fan before I'm old enough to help out.

@ThewayIdoit dude read a book calle Patriot. by james wesley rawles. the lead characters of the book all met in college an started their group at that time. they started having meetings an making their retreat/group rules at that time and didnt start the hardcore preps until they all had jobs. read the book tho it should help you with ideas.

I just wanted to say thank you. I'm in Western MA. We just had our first tornado in about 50 years. People describe it right now as organized chaos. 10,500 + without power , all local ERs are on disaster allert. I stareted prepping about 3 months ago thanks to videos like yours. Im set for 2+ months now for food, got a good med kit, and recently got my first shotgun (870P). Bottling water now. Seriously, thankyou. I am confidently engaged at this point.

People pay money every month to insurance companies for the "what if" situation. Well, last I checked there are no insurance companies for a WROL situation. YOU ARE YOUR first line of insurance in that situation.

I live in CT and have been preeping for years my grand father who came up in the depression saved everything and always had enough to support the family for at least one whole year but as I prep cultivating my garden and tending to my chickens and water isn't a problem due to an easily accessible well it forces you to look around and wonder if anything were to happen how many of my friends would I be able to help and wonder why more people do not prep unfortunately we are a rare breed

It took some time but I finally got my family to start preparing for a small scale disaster but trying to get them to store a years worth of supplies is hard.So right now I am the only one building a years supplies for 8 people. It is hard to do but after a year of hard work and spending some money I have a years supply of food, now I just need to get more friends involved. It would be much easier having more people to help prep. great video thanks

I have posted quite a bit about the amount of preps we have and just how long it takes. To get at 2.5 yrs of food storage, it took 14 months. This is because I want VARIETY! The stored Hershey Cocoa ( 60 lbs) will be a nice treat and so will the 15 lbs of semi sweet chocoltae chips we have sealed in the Mason Jars ( with the Food Saver vacuum port attachment)!! We now have a Lee Reloader and we lkike making our ammo, we have 3000 rounds of store bought ammo!! Keep prepping!!

I have a new thought that people who are WROL or SHTF minded, are apart of the problem. Not so much being prepared, but why do many of the prepper or WROLers not stand up to the government and provide civil resistance to the current issues, instead of putting their head in the sand and "prepping". I would like to see people standing up for their country more than worrying about WROL. Just some thoughts...

Networking is tough where I'm at. A third of the population works for or is directly dependent on .gov. OpSec failures have very real political and thus real life consequences. After getting burned a few times I'm reluctant to put my self out there in the open anymore. I use casual reactions to screen out who I bother to even associate with.
Nevertheless I've found a few like-minded folk and have had a couple people approach me with genuine concerns regarding where to start not being dependent.

@sifupintado I know what you mean. I'm having trouble with family and friends alike, to the point that my wife thinks my "hobby" is starting to get out of control. She told me I need to "stop waiting for the end of the world". We were listening to a show and one person said that in the event of a significant disaster, and if a breakdown occured, that many would just "lie down and die" rather than deal with the situation. She said she was one of these. Said she can't live without order.

Apparently it's fashionable to run with the herd and for many people there is fear of what others may think of them. I've experienced some of the same issues though a couple are coming around....Others, well, I still throw an extra bag of rice into stores with them in mind whether they like it or not.

@sifupintado You are not alone in this. Most people are completely clueless as to what may be in store for our country. One of my sisters just told me to stop because it was making her depressed. Typical "head in the sand" situation. They don't want to hear bad news. Society has most people convinced that gov't will bail them out of anything. Katrina should inform otherwise. If your family disrespects you now, they will really hate you when things get bad. Yes, keep your head up and don't stop..

@sifupintado Just stop talking to them about it, they are right in a way. If they don't share your view of bad times ahead then you should just give them the money instead of buying mres for them, or just buy the mres for yourself.
You tried and they failed, let them be failures if its what they want.

@sifupintado .. Dont feel bad. My family already thought i was crazy from being in war for 7 years. It didnt help when they came over and saw me house with all the prepping supplies and saw my what they call compound. Do what you are doing and dont let anbody drag you down.

I hate to inform you; if you have been consistently rejected over a few years time(no progress made or expressed by them), then you are WASTING your efforts. Consequently, your family ~might~ be a waste of time. SP1 stated to START w/fam 2:31...but not that they are your only choice, as in don't stop there... >> 2:11 the qualification for group start-up is prepper. visit local forums, or CL.

@sifupintado it's difficult for people to wrap their minds around the concept that bad times are ahead, we have had it good for to long and the idea that these good times can end are alien to them. Their attitude is Never in America and it cant happen here. Sorry to say they are in for a big wake up call and may die due to their denial.
However your family doesn't even know what an asset they have...YOU!

@sifupintado Dont feel bad here in Staten island, NY no one thinks it is necessary. Only my sister and wife and kids believe. I can talk until I am blue in the face to people and they think we r survivalists. And gun nuts. Just prepare yourself and 4 your family. I have been doing this for 10 years. @sifupintado No one here wants to get together as a group, its the city mentality. This is because these people never had to go through a crisis of no power or food. They are Sheeple. Just do what you can for yourself. And don't advertise it. If you tell one person you will have 100 outside your door looking for food. Buy "The Urban Survival Guide" by David Morris,, great book. @sifupintado i feel for ya man im in a similar boat they are your family and you love them. so keep loving them by preping for them and just dont tell them about it. talk to them about other stuff they will forget after a while and life will go back to normal. then when it hits the fan they will remember and be grateful

My wife used to think I was a bit paranoid until I intelligently explained to her about how crap can fall apart real quick and it is important to understand that the prepared will be the ones who survive. Like I always say, " If you're with me, then grab your shit and move your ass, and if you try to prevent my path to safety, I'll trample the weak and hurdle the dead as I leave a trail of shell casings and bodies in my wake."

@sifupintado Same here bro. Family thinks I'm nuts, only one talks about it but doesn't actually do... Before I got laid off I tried to convince our first responder team to consider thinking about plans of natural or man-made disasters. They pretty much laughed it off. I spent some time in the military in disaster preparedness and a couple other related positions, I take the possibilities seriously. As we learned on 9-11-2001 the unexpected WILL happen...
