  • I love the anime. Especially for its song. Great upload.

  • congrats to ai maeda for getting married :)

  • chuck norris is better

  • i', back from my anime journey, and still one of my favorite...

  • 实在是好听。微微的带出了ghibli studio的童话感觉??

  • i used to watch it long ago still remember it

  • i like this song , and i finally found it

  • I wish the light novels would get translated into English. So far only the first volume was translated then they dropped it.

  • i was sad when it ended, even the last episode made me tear :')

  • I saw this anime by mistake as a 7-year old. I think it made me a better person.

  • @Xaio30 Lol, that's the same from what happened to me with Trigun. I started watching Kino a decade after Trigun, so once I started watching Kino it was a bit difficult because Kino's philosophy differed quite much with what Trigun influenced me with. For instance, whenever Kino kills/witnesses a murder, she shows almost complete apathy for that person's death. Trigun taught me to value human life and never kill. But as I kept watching Kino's Journey, I started to understand Kino and her ways.

  • @ElegeantFencer I believe in a combination of the two. Value human life and don't kill for the sake of it, but at the same time don't mourn every death as it is only brings unnecessary sadness.

  • The only thing I hated about this series is that the first episode I ever watched was the last episode in the series. I watched it on comcast on demand, and loved it so much I asked my parents to get it. When I watched the penultimate episode, I was so pissed it took a lot for me to finish it.

  • The song and show are great ! I like kino for showing us how we should view the world ans that we should travel and gain new experience. It makes me want to travel ans reach my goal to what I want to be come .:)

  • Some people think kino is a boy but she's a girl........A beautiful girl she is.

  • @koolex99 Spoilers, beware! ;-) This aside, I think the directing was deliberate with respect to this. Kino is a human, a traveller, an on-looker.

  • I didn't get a chance to watch Kino until last year, always heard good things, gave it a shot, and was absolutely hooked from the first episode.

It might not be the "greatest" anime series, but everything about it is perfectly executed. The characters, the story, the style, the music, the mood, everything its top notch.

Obviously I'm sad it's such a short series, but in a way I'm glad that it never went on long enough to be ruined. (eg. Firefly for fellow sci-fi nerds)

  • Kino's journey? lol, it's my journey! :D

(My username is created way LOOONG before this anime got started)

  • @Kino4500 So, it was created over 11 years ago? Kino's Journey was first a light novel series that started in the year 2000 :)

  • @sanomaton he said anime, not the novel. Anime came out in 2003. He may even be speaking of the American release too.

  • @sanomaton: I know the anime is over but is the light novel series still going or has that ended, too?

  • @Sup750 No, the light novel series is still ongoing if I remember correctly :)

  • @sanomaton I've had this nickname since I started frequenting the Internet somewhere around 1997. Who's to say Kino4500 wasn't Kino even before YouTube? :)

  • @Kino4500 Kino's Journey started in 2000 then became an anime in 2003. That's around the time youtube first launched, so I get the impression that you're lying..

  • @ElegeantFencer Mayhap he created it for another site before youtube?

  • @Kino4500

You joined in 2009. Like Sanomaton said Kino no Tabi already exists for over 11 years.

  • Not sure if I should buy the complete collection R1 of Kino's Journey, but I'm tempted to.

  • @FilMarck What keeps you from doing it? :-) I've got three complete collections, two of the being the Swedish R2 collection.

  • @Pull63cat It's a 3 Disc Set and really slim.

I like the old fat box but it's kinda pricey.

    So I'm in the middle.

  • I just discovered this anime and I'm halfway done. I wish i knew about it sooner

  • I used to watch this when I was young and didn't understand a thing.. then I remembered the series and re-watched it again.

    Kino's Journey is very beautiful!!

  • this should be turn into a series :D

  • @R31lA It already is a series? Kino no Tabi or Kino's Journey, look it up. :)

  • @sanomaton woah my eyes are playing tricks on me @.@

  • hey ppl im uploading kino's journey english dubbed Hd, if anyones interested plz swing by my channel.

  • its sad how many ppl love naruto and the videos have like millions of view and this masterpiece have only 45.000

  • @KumoKojiki what i love is when u find ppl who watch the newer anime like naruto n then they go like they stole this from naruto when actully the show there complaing at is from like 1996 but still love this anime

  • @KumoKojiki It's sad how many people feel the need to make anime a cock contest.

  • Oh! Thank you for telling me i was just asking because Kino said that her name could be changed very easily to be an insult.

  • @dxbvrggl Huh? How is the name sakura changed to be an insult? I'm not to well known in speaking/writing in Japanese.

  • @loverofvocaloids If u change the characters it can turn into "nemura" which means..er..I think gloomy or "okura" which I'm pretty sure means something dimwitted or slow..somewhere around those lines =)

  • My favorite anime of all time.

  • this sounds kinda weird and depressing....might check it out

  • This was a very meaningful and mature story! The Last episode always gets me a little misty. ^_^ (This title sat on my shelf for years before I watched it and I when I did, I was shocked at the story and wondered why I hadn't watched it sooner!)

  • oh yeah and don't forget hermees

  • at first i thought kino was a boy because DON'T U HEAR HER VOCIE!!! but kino is a girl if she was real i would travel with and marry :D

  • @dxbvrggl Hey hey, spoiler alert.

  • @sanomaton Ack! Your comment made it go to the top!

  • @sanomaton LOL my bad :D

  • @dxbvrggl omygosh ya! i loved the referance to that in the last episode. this as such a wise anime, and very powerful

  • @dxbvrggl Theres actually no proof, its implied though

  • @14thPianist True she doesn't say "My name is Sakura" but they use the same wording of that if u change it slightly it turns into a nasty insult..and from the place where's shes from all the names are after flowers

  • @dxbvrggl That is only implied--and in the anime alone at that, not the source material.

  • sooo many good memorys *shed manly tears of joy*

  • @SkyShinigami Good for you :) I wish everyone could see Kino's Journey, such a powerful anime it is.

  • @sanomaton

Saw it when i was kid, but not all, didn't understand it then.

Well years later, i wished i saw rest then, possibly one of the best animes next to Rurouni Kenshin.

Great philosophy and mystical world, loved the series ^^

  • @SkyShinigami

Well, I can't shed "manly" tears, but whenever this song used to turn up on my iPod, I used to shed tears of joy for the existence of the Kino and this song! ^__^

  • I love Kino's Journey and my fav episode is the one w/ the Song of Sadness (The poem that is said alll the time during the day by a certain girl in memory of the poet). U should wath Hell Girl its kind of the same thing w/ lots of different stories but still one main character that is always there. Good drawing nice voice actors, but its very dark. Hope u try it

  • whoever disliked this song missed the like button

  • Thiz makes me cry but Itz a veery good song

  • "this world is not beautiful. Therefore it is" (世界は美しくなんかない。そしてそれ故に美しい). I can't really agree with this quote, but let me interpret it my way: despite all the sad things going on in the world, it remains beautiful, isn't it?

  • Someone once told me...that watching the birds made them want to go on a journey

    who said that?

    ....i forget

one of my all time fav animes and this song is just beautiful

  • "Though I did not know the place, I set out for the land of my dreams.

Having arrived at the land of my dreams, I found i did not know the place."

    -Kino's Journey: Land of Adults.

  • Kino= Naoto Shirogane

  • One goddamned person missed the like button.

  • Why would someone hate this? Dx

  • i reckon kino has a very cute voice english dubbed ^_^

  • @vannigoesonline

Hehe, I've been looking over those highly recommended animes other people have mentioned, and been wondering how some of them were actually similar to Kino no Tabi - they all seemed like interesting animes, and there were some similar gems there, but a majority of them seemed as though people were just listing the animes they really liked ^^''

  • Thanks to the comments below, now I'm starting to watch the other films/animes suggested. La Maison en Petits Cubes seems very lovely, I think :)

  • Just started watching this anime and I love it, it's beautiful...

This song sounds so clean and refreshing, somehow :) It makes you think of magical skies for some reason, haha :)

  • I loved this show because I have always wanted to go on a journey, that or an adventure.

  • Haibane Renmei and Bokurano are good anime to watch if you like this series.

  • @nyxetera

I saw Kino's Journey because someone told me it was something like Haibane Renmei, my favorite anime. I haven't heard of Bokurano--maybe I'll try it.

  • When I see birds flying in the sky, it makes me want to go on a journey.

  • someone knows what musical instruments are playing in the begining?

    pls plssss answer me !!!

  • @amitdrstein My best guess would be that the intro melody is played on a panflute, though that could be any multitude of windpipe instruments.

  • Btw, anyone else find Kino to be kinda hot? I dunno, I guess it's because the contrast of her being a girl yet having some masculine characteristics. Similar to how yaoi fans like men with feminine feature.

I have to be honest, I got pretty turned on when her clothes were briefly off in Country of Illness. :P

  • Anyone know where I can get the movies subbed in english ?

  • id recommend u people watch haibane renmei if u liked this one

  • Say there was a movie out for the anime. Anyone know the name of it?

  • @Sousuke15 There were two movies: Kino's Journey: Life Goes on and Kino's Journey: Country of Illness.

  • @uberhikari thanks. a friend of mine just send the entire movies by mail and i got them subbed thank god. it was amazing!

  • @uberhikari Well, they were more like normal episodes with updated animation.

  • @ElegeantFencer The "movies" that I mentioned do not appear in the original anime series; that series consists of 13 episodes. The other two were not quite long enough to be movies, and are more like ova's than movies. Also, the ova's are longer than the original episodes and have different openings and endings, which is how you can tell the difference between the two.

  • @uberhikari I already know that. I'm not talking about the OVA's, I'm talking about the two movies. And they're actually only 30 minutes long each, the same length as the 13 episodes. I've seen Life Goes On and Country of Illness.

  • @uberhikari Oops. Slight misunderstanding. Yeah, the OVA's are longer. I'm just saying the movies are similar to the normal episodes both in length and structure, just with higher quality animation.

  • @ElegeantFencer Yeah, that's right. We seemed to have been talking past each other. I misinterpreted your original reply; I thought you were trying to say that I gave wrong information. Sorry about that assumption on my part.

  • I only can say: "the best anime". Kino's personality just like me. May be that's why i like this anime.

  • After i finished watching Kino i though i was gonna have a hard time finding an anime of that caliber. But then i found Mushi-shi ,Twelve Kingdoms and Haibane Renmei. You won't be disappointed by these tree. :) Kino is still one of my all time favorites though.

  • @Verokomo yeah i think haibane renmei too is one of the best story

  • Kino's Journey is equal to Kobato, they're both my 3rd favoite anime =) I love Kino's Journey and it has such great music! ♥♥

  • If you enjoyed thinking while watching Kino's Journey I would like to raccomand you few masterpieces of the animation usually unknown by most: Haibane Renmei, Texhnolyze, S.E. Lain (can ya see the link? :P) and you may also enjoying watching Spice and Wolf. All these animes have a slow plot and they make you thing more about life and its different styles of living it.

  • Love it!

  • the best ending song ever .. i miss the pass

  • nice. lets go on a journey fellow travelers.

  • Mushishi is recomended.

  • Kino is an outsider. Granted, she understands life so much more than the average individual. Please watch the series, it's not just your regular anime.

  • I love Ai Maeda <3

  • Comment removed

  • The singer is actually Kino's Japanese VA. Pretty cool.

  • This song is awesome, and it perfectly fits the theme of the anime.

  • Perfect Anime Perfect Song

  • Yes, get yourself checked.

  • @randomuser4

  • Of course not. That's the whole point. :D

  • Lol, me too, I guess I'm weird then.:P

  • Such a beautiful song that i can listen to to help me relax when things get me down or stressed. ^_^

  • I want a bike like Kino

  • This is one of the best underrated anime I have seen in my life.

    Very enlightening stories.

  • @saintives And yet, my stupid ass isn't watching it. I must buy it!

  • did you kow kino's mom and dad tryed to kill her? It was sad in the novel T^T

  • nice song

  • i know rite!

  • Everyone should go on a journey once in their life I think. Maybe not as epic as Kino's, but one where you just get out there and absorb as much about other cultures and peoples as you can.

You could learn alot about yourself and the world would be a nicer place if people just understood each other :P

  • Totally agree. I'm already planning a lot of journeys. Wanna see the world. ^^

  • I agree. I so want to see the rest of the world. One day I plan to travel all over the world. That would be so fun!

  • True, very true.^ ___ ^

  • @1iquid777 Hi everybody, its grendelee from above (no duh) and im on a journey! im currently traveling europe! im mostly staying in relatives places, wandering around in the woods, but its great! im learning different cultures and everything. I totally forgot about this comment until someone responded to it, lol. So yeah, Heres a shout out from FInland, formerly of the soviet union! Have a good journey, everbody

  • I loved kinos journey so much...but i was never able to finish it /depressing

I loved the theme song and the ending theme as well so much...made me so happy lol

I reccomend King of bandit Jing, DNAngel, Busou Renkin...theres alot lol just look around :D

  • thanks, all. ill look into them!

  • if i loved kinos journey, what other animes would i like? ive seen the basics, of course (trigun, cowboy bebop, etc) i need something new, any suggestions?

  • berserk (dark fantasy), flcl (random), irresponsible captain taylor (sci-fi comedy), crest of the stars (sci-fi masterpiece)

  • Kimi ga Nozomu Eien is something I recommend strongly. (Translates as something like The Eternity You Desire)

  • thanks! ill be sure and check these out. hope theyre like bebop and kino

  • @sanomaton . . . aw.....

  • @sanomaton Hye ive seen that its pretty good i guessITs like a the real world kind of anime. I would recomend Saikano

  • @sanomaton KimiNozo is also called Rumbling hearts in the western DVD releases

  • Mushishi?

    Or maybe Natsume Yuujinchou?

They have a more gentle and contemplative tone compared to other fantasy anime.

  • if you liked Kino's Journey, "Now and Then Here and There" is a good place to start. They seem a lot alike to me. Simple character desings, simple stoires, but really mature, dark, and gripping.

  • @prede89 Kino's Journey and NaTHaT are nothing alike.

  • @grendelee moribito or twelve kingdoms perhaps

  • Hmm...I think Hell Girl might appeal to you, it has some of that same surreal air. I've heard Ballad of a Shinigami is similar also.

And...that's it? I can't think of any at the moment...WAIT! I think Air might also be good for you.

  • @grendelee well, if your lookin for a mindfuck: neon genesis evangelion

  • @wyatt8766 i dont get why everyone says its a mindfuck. (this is kind of a lie, i do get it, but with the proper understanding it isnt a mind fuck. more of a psychoanalysis) everthing is explained and makes sence, not in the series mind you. all the information on whats going on can make sence with a strong understanding of phycolagy and some notes on things not actually relesed here.

  • @boysingsjpop if you want some idea look at

ReVolution Of Evangelion,s channel. he explains it well!

  • @grendelee i strongly recomend Clannad(and After Story)...in my oppinion this is the best anime ever made

also you could try Mushishi(it's very similar with Kino no tabi),Aria,Angel Beats,Higurashi no naku koro ni...

  • @grendelee Mushishi all though im sure you must have seen it already ^^

  • Comment removed

  • @grendelee If you loved this one, for it's peacfulness and existenciality you'll probably enjoy Mushi-shi and Natsume Yuujinchou

  • @grendelee

You'll probably love La Maison en Petits Cubes, that's a lovely oscar-awarding clip.

  • @grendelee If you'd like something similar, Mushishi would be great to watch, or Kaiba, so long as you don't mind the character designs.

  • @grendelee

    mushishi

it isn't as dark as kino's journey but it has the same ethereal feel

  • I love the face melting flute solo~

  • tyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • Comment removed

  • the song is so surreal!!

  • this is the song of my soul

  • love! just love for this song.

  • nice, i super love the song and the anime!!

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!! *_*
