in the wild the survival rate from fry is like 1 in 30, the rest become part of the food chain. Its a question of Morales when it becomes a hobby and you keep your fish, fish of the wild in a confined limited space compaired to the natural rivers and streams they have come from. I also have a 10 ft x 2ft x 2ft tank with a comunity of african cichlids. I personally would be more concerned about these peoples intentions in general more so than poor mr gold fishy.

I agree that its natures way, but goldfish are terrible. They contain high fats, and thiminesmine (or you spell it somewhat like that) and that deprives the fish of vitamin B. Feed your oscars/other fish guppies, or other livebearers. They are low in fat, and you can gut load them with high quality flakes/foods so your fish can ingest that too. Also give your fish a bigger tank and some hidding places. I would get rid of one oscar and plant the hell out of the tank. BEEYOTCH!
