tony banks is really overlooked as a keyboardist. Really one of the best in my opinion. Maybe not as fast as some and not a showman like others but still really amazing. Only person I can think who had it worse was Ricard Wright. I mean everyone talks about rogers and david and syd and NEVER mention wright!!!
@Frobe1357 John Lord could. In fact there is a video somewhere on here that shown Lord and Wakeman having a jam, and it's pretty good to say they're both in their sixties. Imagine what it'd've sounded like had they jammed 40 years ago...So sad that the real musicians of today are stifled if they don't have a posterboy/girl image.
Marvelous, great hearing this piece....Probbo one of the best hammond breaks in progressive music of all time...(karn evil 9 / 1st impression aside)...Great work there...
amazing cover, and you nailed the organ sound as well. I was wondergin, what's youre drawbar setting? i was trying to do some Tony Bankish sounds on my organ but I can't quite figure out the right drawbar registry
Excellent job on playing such a difficult piece, but you got thrown off from the 9/8 beat pretty early on. It happens at 0:21-0:22. You were late on coming into the next part, which threw off the rest of the solo. Aside from that flop, this is quite brilliant.
Yes it does - Thx with my equipment I had to do it a bit different because it sounded to sharp I use (with my Nord Stage) DB 478844466 chorus/vib off Lesley slow Perc ON slow 2nd (for all) Lesley Drive 5.5 EQ Treble 10, Mid 6, Bass 5 sounds cool greetz Rob
9 drawbars are set (in/out e.g. 688800088). Also important are the settings for Percussion and Vibrato/Chorus. I would say the 2 sounds you are using come very close to the original
Great job...
What's next, the Melotron? :-D

BRILL! I feel tony banks is the only keyboardist other than wakeman that could hold a candle stick to keith emerson

Could you make a lesson from this? I'd really like to play it. It's my second favourite song ever (after Thick As A Brick)

Very worthwhile...a view from the top (angled from behind you) rather than the side, please.
Thanks

@brianedmunds Not too bad Brian. It's a tough piece, gets pretty hairy in the middle there. Did a nice job with the double keyboard and the changes!

You are sensational! Thanks for sharing this. It's amazing what detail goes into each part of these huge sprawling songs.

This sounds awesome, congratulations!! I think you should emphasize more the staccato in some of the bars.

Cool! I'm gonna try to learn it on guitar (which is probably gonna be hard as hell). I'll post a vid when I do. :)
This is possibly (with the exception of Cinema Show) Tony Banks' best solo. Your version is excellent. Good job,
