As one poster noted, in the U.S. we are taught to keep our greyhounds on leashes. I see a lot of over weight greyhounds here due to pet owners. Sad. But your dogs are Perfect and absolute poetry. Fell in love with the puppy pictures. Something we don't often get to see in the U.S.....greyhound puppies.

it is o.k. to race them as long as you care for them--otherwise you extinguish the breed. just regulate the crap out of the loosers that don't care for their dogs. the expense of re-homing should fall on the racing industry.

I hope you are not in that category, but why else would you breed these dogs, when so many unwanted greyhounds already exist?
These hounds live in Finland and in Finland greyhound racing is just a HOBBY, like agility etc. And these dogs are PETS. And in Finland, betting in greyhound races in unlegal. So, these awesome dogs are just like poodles, pets of a loving family. (:

It's beautiful to watch him run for his enjoyment and not for others. It's hard to say to stop breeding Greyhounds, because that's how I got Blue. There are so few AKC breeders. I hope one day people will realize what a wonderful breed a Greyhound is and race track breeding will stop. And responsible breeders will give us the Best Dog there is!

Yes, but the problem isn't the racing itself. As a sport it's very exciting... It's the industry, and mass producing of greyhounds. In Finland racing is just a hobby, just like agility or dogshows. We have whole different culture, our racers are treated as pets.
