yall dont really know what you are doing. the works containg HCl which is hydrochloric acid which when reacted with aluminum produces hydrogen gas and aluminum chloride which is a salt(HCl + Al2 = AlCl + H). the hydrogen gas is what swells the bottle up and causes it to explode. Your biggest mistake was not tearing up the aluminum because tearing it up would create more surface area on which the reaction can take place. try puncturing the lid and putting a flame above it, it will make fire ball
