In San Diego, every Target is 2 stories and the Carts have their own Escalator's too!!!!!! As for the people..... Well, they have to take the stairwell and those are back towards the Sporting Goods Section.

You should see how many arguments and fights we have here because by the time you get down to your cart some wise ass has already taken it.

Southern California needs to come up with the same system as Minneapolis. Don't segregate the people from their carts. Let them ride together!!!!!

Here in norway, we have a non-step escalator, where the carts sticks to the escalator with the power of magnetism. Magnets in the cart wheels, magnet in the escalator. Makes this look embarrasing in comparison!

What keeps the cart from accidentally sliding off the front of the step and tumbling down the stairs? When the store is busy it seems like having to push your cart and then get on the escalator next to it is going to lead to a bottleneck. Thanks for vid.

I remember these in the 70's, but it wasn't as high tech as this. It was a simple hook at the front, and an "L" bracket at the rear. Worked perfectly, until you got a kart that was slightly out of shape, and all your shopping would be thrown down 20ft, when it disengaged at the top. Fun days.

We have one of those in Portland, OR but today a woman thought that the people escalator was for carts. Despite the no carts sign clearly depicted in the opening of this video. KA-THUNK-KA-THUNK-KA-THUNK-CRA­SH and her cart made it to the bottom. Thank goodness she didn't have a child with her!

In Japan, some multi-floor shopping centres have flatbed escalators with carts that have grooves in the wheels that line up with the grooves in the escalator so that the cart becomes stationary as you and the cart ride the escalator. its REALLy cool
