You explained NOTHING! You only stated the obvious, then restated it three time using different words! The most scientific word you used was 'trachea' and sure, I get it, you're speaking to laymen/women, but come on! This video was pointless! It didn't even show a coughing dog!
I just got a dog who has been through a lot. A friend went a picked him up for me and I notice he has had problems breathing and I thought it was just because he has a short nose. He is a Pekingese. He is coughing and sneezing he also has a runny nose. I want to take him to a vet, but $ has been tight and I was wondering if anyone knows of a good place that is cheap or will at least work w/ me...

vets are bunch of looser they can't help my dog he is coughing for long time about 8 months and every time i got appointment with vets they keep telling me its a virus they teated my dog with different medicine he is still coughing and for couple months he was off medicine because hes cough was a little better but today get worst . what iam trying to say is there is 100 vets with school but only 2 from 100 gone be really good doctors . how vets can't tell me why my dog coughing.
@chicagoTrick There is no cough in dogs produced by a Virus that will last 8 months. Even if so there will be very few meds you could give to the dogs. Antivirals are very prohibitive. Your dog might have COPD or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Or could be something totally different. Look for a Specialist in cardiology in your area because that could be another reason and they may be able to help you discard that as a possibility. Could be Heart Worm Disease or Heart Failure who knows?
What's scary is you are correct. I can't tell you how many times I've taken my dogs in and the vets never really know for sure what's wrong. I've had TWO dogs die of cancer and BOTH times the vets were way off right from the begining until almost the very end.
Typical vet visit...blood work..maybe x-rays...meds and then they hope problem goes away on its own.
Dogs can't talk unfortunately so a vet is just and educated guesser.
@RapIsDeadly "Dogs can't talk UNFORTUNATELY" ??? Are you nuts? If your dogs could talk their testimony could send you to prison for 20 years on assorted and unnatural sex charges. And cut your vets a little slack ... most of them have never heard of, let alone diagnosed, a dog with herpes so they never think of testing for it. Anyway, I hope your lip's clearing up a bit.
maybe someone knows what could that be? this coughing everytime? can't stand it anymore... i cannot look at him when he suffers! ;( sometimes i'd rather die than look at it all...
I had a Dog who two Doctor's said she has congestive heart failure and was given two weeks to live. The Dr put her on a drug, call Vasoteck, not sure of the spelling but happily she lived 5 years more.
The medicine was very expensive but I was in turn made very happy.I have found out through life that the person who came up with a "A Dog is man's best friend" is so very very true..
my dog had xrays and had med. and the dr thinks he hs cong. heart failure but he seems to have the synptoms of kennel cough this started in Jan-2009 at that time he seemd to have somekind of flu and so did I very bad -worse Ive ever had and then he seemed ok after that long month of US being sick then he was getting it back it mellowed out and now since yesterday he started coughing again alot-I LOVE him
Needs to do a chest X-ray. My was diagnosed wrong for bronchitis and died 2 days later from heart failure. Chest x-ray would have saved his life.

Our dog coughs but my husband said that it is fur from him licking/chewing on himself (when he itches). He also said that it could be his medicine.
