  • sanngggg it gay poppers! wait what? umm yeah hahah

  • A couple of points:

Is this the first use of the phrase 'up tight' in R&B/Soul/Doo-Wop?

For the discographers : Fire 1037 was also allocated to Bobby Marchan. The earlier Gay Poppers release (Fire 1024) was also allocated to Elmore James. Poor housekeeping by Bobby Robinson I guess!

  • Very interesting. I wasn't aware of the re-use of his release numbers. That sounds like poor housekeeping to me. I'm not sure if this is the first time Up Tight was used on an r&b record. That's an interesting subject to investigate.

  • Great groove, needs to keep the boogie at least another minute--over too soon!

  • Wow...fantastic tune.Another one on the shopping list! Cheers for the post.

  • I kind of wish this was a stock copy like your copy of I Want To Know. I bet the stock copies of their 45s are a lot rarer than the promos

  • @PJDooWop I dont know.I've only ever seen stock copies of I want to Know.I'll take this any way if I can find it..

  • Good One

  • Thank you

  • Tight record by a group w/Gay in the name of the group, how could u go wrong? I guess it figures the song would be hot like fire too!

  • This is great, but I don't even think it's their best song.. Check out I Want To Know.. That's a freakin killer. Mr. Cupid is great too.. I remember you left a really funny comment on that one
