"see more" area. pig snort: john martin; pig squeal: diller. jim martin, jazz bass from st albans; only for the day- goof engineer didnt have recorder running for the first and BEST [as usual] cut, duh! this- 3rd take; dave broke string in second part but kept goin. note: every time it was put on jukebox in bar, fights would break out...even as far south Jacksonville Fla. also, diller had just started playing w/ Morris' a hand full months earlier; he was the only fledgling in this crew...08/73
LOVE IT!!!! This is a sea shanty. Hog eyed man refers to the same thing as a one eyed snake.-a sexual allusion. I wonder if joining the Morris Brothers was Jim Carter (of Johnny Cash 's wife's family I believe) did the animal noises as he was well known for them?
David Morris and his wife Christine Bellangee Morris and Jack Bellangee Morris will be performing at the Clay County Golden Delicious Festival September 17th, 2011 at 6 p.m. Gonna be a great show Main Street Clay.
David is my father. We never have had much of a relationship, but I had this 45 growing up. It was really our only connection for a long time, and it does bring back memories to hear it.
Man this brings back memories. I used to play with John & Dave on occasion when someone in the band couldn't make it for a show. Fun times. I'd love to hear the version with John Martin on harmonica, and Murdock on Bass. John Martin was a great Harmonica player. He left this earth in such a tragic way
I'd forgotten about their 45. If I remember correctly, the B side was "Angeline." A few years ago, David brought some old Morris Brothers recordings to me to remaster and put on CD. He never did a production run, but just some short runs. One of them had this song but with a slightly different band -- John Martin was still playing harmonica, but the Sweeney brothers were playing banjo and mandolin, and I think Murdock was playing bass. Good stuff.

I have heard this performed live many times. Especially at the Ivydale Music Festival but I did not realise they had recorded it.
David Morris usually sang lead vocals if you want to add that to your notes.
Thanks for posting this.

I have contact info for them. Do you have an email address I can use so I don't have to post their phone numbers on here?

wouldn't hurt to ask permission to distribute their music...
