I hate it when people say "you shouldn't cover this/that band". I mean, no band is perfect, stop being so pretentious. I personally love this cover because it got me into Pavement.
The version on the EP is the perfect complement to the original Pavement song -- faster, sweeter, more fun, but losing a bit of Stephen Malkmus's wonderful disdain for everything.
This version doesn't have the quality of a studio production or the energy of actually being there live, so it's pretty much worthless. Brings back good memories though...
Gee, lots of haters here. What's not to like about a band covering a somewhat overlooked Pavement song? Beats covering a Spin Doctors or Blind Melon song of the same year.
this band sounds like a record company's attempt at marketing to a bunch of awkward teenagers who are transitioning from emo to indie music. thumbs down
I don't know why people hate this cover so much. I mean, the audio in this video is pretty badly recorded; the studio version of their cover is fantastic. And yeah, its different from the Pavement version, but Los Campesinos! just doesn't do slow very well, they do frenetic and jumpy and poppy, and I love them for it.
@daaliminator2 maybe you shouldn't get 'everything is ending here - a tribute to pavement' largely awful but the shoot the singer cover is brilliant. check out my vids

Someone covering Pavement's "Frontwards." Great choice and good rendition. And I never been to Maxell's. I hear YLT play there a lot.

i know that originals are always better than the remakes or covers, but i think what they did to change it up was really good!

This is a perfect song for them to cover.

lead singer's got the whole Cher mic grip thing going on
I know imitation is the grandest form of flattery, but jeeze, this song's just butchered. IMO

I had to look this up because someone said this cover was better than the original, obviously he/she was wrong.

Someone needs to put a live version of the original on Youtube. Los Campesinos: great band but poor cover.
