  • forget the type the L in instrumental... end up here

  • Comment removed

  • What are those on your Cymbals? and what are using to convert from trigger to MIDI? Thank you.

  • why do single notes sometimes sound out like flam-notes?

fine 64's notes don't register well.

  • haha oh no.. the clarity and resounding beautiful resonance of an acoustic set turned into dry midi... But your playing was great.

  • Dude I was fuckin terrified when you looked up at the camera cause I thought that was me. You're my twin dude lol

  • Where can I geta copy of this song?

  • can you send me thsi midi to what your playing? I want to jam on it at a open mic...PLEASE!!!!!!!! the whole thing... OWO

  • your such a fuckin non pussy gettin bitch with your wack ass music!

  • @dutcher60 Seriously? You're retarded.

  • what material do you use to cover ride and crashes?

    answer me

  • could have not muted the acoustic signal because it's like hearing in double

  • so when you play, there is no sound, but when you get it on the compputer there is?

  • Wow your very good :) I love Chrono Trigger brings back a lot of memories

  • whoa this awesome

  • what do you plug the module into to record? straight into the computer? or do you need something else

please explain pretty much everything you do to record your electric drums

  • hahaha yo make pearl cymbals sound excellent xD

  • This is from the Brink of Time album. Great choice of track to play with.

  • very good rhythm.

  • HAHA Hell to the fuck yeah that whole album was fucking amazing man it's kinda hard to get your hands on now but if you do i bet you will end up paying $20-$40 for it

  • boy that sure looks really fun. wish i had a setup like that.

  • sounds a lot like Lemon Jelly to me. I really like what you have done with this song.

  • what hi hat controller are you using there and where can i buy one ??

  • its so cool

  • This version makes it sound like the closing credits of a late night sports show (that's not a bad thing) just the cool urban vibe

  • カッコイイ♪

  • What do triggers do again?

  • if you look at the high-hat he has pearl cymbals Ive only seem them once where in the fucking world can you get those cymbals and are they any good?

  • they just came with his pearl set. They're a crappy generic set of cymbals that pearl slapped their logo on

  • that's right. I don't even remember what i did with those cymbals. The cymbals were really low quality

  • My friend had thoose hi- hats too, and they were very crappy. It cracked many times and now it's just a pile of metal crap. Didin't last very long, so as said, very low quality cymbals.

  • the zyldjain (spelling?) K hi hat cymbals were the best i had ever heard years ago growing up. my friend split one and had to have another hand crafted to match. it was very expensive.

  • @ventekid its zildjian.

  • no, cause drum triggers just transmit little electrical signals, it's not even sound. If you're going to use triggers you need a module.

  • Thanks! Actually, I found a way to take miced drums and use the sound as a trigger. Toontracks makes a program called drumtracker that takes audio and transmits it as a midi sound. From there you can use a midi program such as superior 2.0 I think you get the best of both worlds that way. Unlike using triggers and a module which only is midi sounds, you can use this method and layer the midi and audio from miced drums to get a more real sound of the drum kit!

  • that is the best way that I found! But actually I did learn that you can use mics as a trigger. A module will pick up the electric signal of a mic just the same as a trigger. Just have to make sure the mics are gated really well as to prevent bleed. Either way, great video man!

  • nice work man..

but triggers and electronic drums don't help with dynamics, feel and expression unfortunatelly!

But they are a good solution for creating!

    cheers

  • Is that seriously an acoustic set turned into an electric set?!

  • @CoverDrummer94 yeah!

  • wow great idea.

  • ill be going to berklee in spring '10, we gotta jam dude.

  • This is really good. Nice work.

  • Una versión cuanto menos curiosa de la música de Chrono Trigger.

  • anjing !!! nice pisan maneh !!!

  • awsome

  • good job brother, what sofware is of drums?, im sorry, no speak good english, you can repond in english, tnx :)!

  • Wow, this is the only drum playing to chrono trigger music on youtube. Gotta fix that!

  • wow you're great! but i think that this song is named memories of green...

  • that toms sound awful. Maybe...need tuning haha.

    But great song.

  • all these chinks have the best songs lol

  • wow ignorant

  • It may be ignorant, but its true.

  • well even if that were true 'chink' is a racial slur used in reference to Chinese people, this game comes form a Japanese developer. So I think the word you were looking for was either 'jap' or 'nip' maybe.

  • no it would be gook

  • Perfect.

    Fox.

  • Sick pocket man. Keep it up.

  • very beautiful!!!! can you tell me what is the name of this song? thanks :)

  • tigger with us all good to go look silly

  • genial exellent the time

  • ahh my brain flooding with so many things. mainly this makes me think of overclocked remixes and well the best rpg of all time.

  • Very Impressive! Brings back memories. The triggers you're using seem to have done a great job. Did you arrange this acid jazz version yourself? Do you know where i can get my hands on the song?

  • This arrangement comes from the Chrono Trigger: The Brink of Time arranged album.

  • 10/5

  • Check RHYTHMTANDEM.

  • You're impressive, great choice in music too.

  • how does the hi-hat trigger know when your opening the hats?

  • I dont think theres a trigger for oppening the highhat since it has its own distinct sound

  • I love my drum kit. it is an old japenese red sparkle colored set. i can get great recordings and songs out of it but there are limitations to a standard acoustic drum kit. you cant get as many electronic sounds as you would from an electronic set. i plan on buying a decently priced electronic kit one day. for midi purposes and for sounds.

  • what the fuck happend to real drums.

  • Some people don't have any other option than an electronic for noise reasons. Living in an apartment complex with 30 other tenants, doesn't fly when you're pounding on real skins and you get evicted in a week.

  • yeah, having the cops three times a week just by making music is no fun :(

  • What's the name of this remix version of opening theme of Chrono Trigger??? It seems like a great song for bboying (especially the catchy part of the song).

  • hell god damn yes, favorite game. same here.

  • I need this. As an mp3. Right now.

  • Omg... yes! We need an mp3!

  • If you're going to trigger everything, then why didn't you just buy a V-drum set ???

I can understand, when playing metal, that u would trigger the bassdrum, maybe the snare, but it sort of ruins the feeling and the dynamic

  • because some people hate playing on electric kits

they prefer playing on acoustic thers a huge differance in how they feel man

  • yeah i know, i started out on an electronic kit, but take a look at the new models from Roland, they got a better feeling and have more or like the measurements of a real kit. But hey, to each is own ...

  • yeh we have them at our collge the td20s

there still is a huge differance, i dont like playing them at much, ewll they are alot better than like hard rubber triggers you get on most electric kits

i still do prefer the feel of an acoustic by miles

  • can you load any sample you want on your set up or does it just work off pre-sets??

  • Dude it's reaaly good indeed!

    Congrats! U rock!

  • why is everything covered? and with what?

  • he pretty turned his drum set into an electronic drum set.

  • Well done man, I used to play drums along time ago though stopped.

You did great! keep it up!

  • hes not even playing

  • and how do you figure?

  • word dude nice stuff

  • Do a drum cover of the X version of Dam in 007 Goldeneye =p

  • I liked this Jazzy CT music and your drumming :) But.. this is so old! We want more from CT :P!

  • hows berkely?

  • Well... Berklee is really cool but a lot of work. It's really enjoyable and a privilege to attend, :D

  • excellent!!

  • love this song its on my mp3

  • That was simply excellent. =D

But wasn't this song Crono's theme?

  • no it's actually a remake done by an acid jazz band and yea they called it "brink of time"... but it's not the true song entitled "brink of time" in tht game hihi

  • OK, thanks.

  • yeah, i loved watching your vid, it really shows how much you enjoy doing it

  • It's actually a LOT of fun watching you play. It makes me want to learn the drums. Are there any books your recommend for learning how to sight-read and techniques?

  • anything instructional would help if you're starting, I guess practice is more important, at least that's how i see it.

  • ooh i used to love this song! haven't heard it in years! OC remix right?

  • where i can get the mp3 for this song? it's amazing

  • excellently done

  • That freakin' rocked. It really makes me want to get a drum set and learn how to play. Man...I wish I could play EVERYTHING.

  • nice playing but what is there on your cymbals and hi-hat?

  • read my past comments, it'll make it clear

  • I love this song! Acid jazz pwns!

I have a question or two for you mate... what sticks might ya be using? And, how long have you been playing?

  • well I don't remember what I was using at the time. But recently I've been using Vic Firth's 5A which give me a really good balance, a little expensive(about 8USD a pair)but well worth it for how I feel with them. By the way everyone I'm moving soon to a place I can make music, so that means new videos hopefully, maybe I'll do a remake of this song on acoustic drums, which will sound even better given this was recorded about 2 years ago, and I've learn so much since then, subscribe!

  • Cool man, it's what I use as well. Keep up the drumming man, you've got a smooth playing style.

  • I'd start a band with you any day homeboy.

  • Holy shit, this is professional quality!

  • I like your technique. Not a lot of people play in traditional grip. I do. I kept it from snare drumming in marching band in high school.

Chrono Trigger is such an awesome game. I wish I beat it when I was into playing video games.

  • 2 days :o, REALY THE BEST GAME

  • sorry my last game time was 20 hrs. :P

  • chrono trigger is also my favorite game of all time i've played it over 50 times and i still like so much thanx for posting this awesome song you are great!!!! if you have the mp3 i'd like to have it :P

  • How long does it take to beat the game?

  • mmmm i really dont know.. about 10-15 hrs i think

  • 20 hrs if you played it straight, days if your actually human... but you havent beaten it until you've level 99'd every guy and then played the game over again in + mode with your 99 dudes and get all the best gear and lotsa cash.

  • yeah its the best rpg of all time.ive finished it 1 day straight when i was old 9 yrs ive beat it like 4 times(last 7 years, last 6 year, and last year) ive played lost odyssey and other latest rpgs but this is still the best when it comes to story and gameplay

  • amazing..your feel is incredible, midiness and all. i am seriously impressed, watching you play made me feel like floating away or something equally rapturous just because of how one you were with the set and music. Im still waiting for the day i can fuse that well with my instruments. :)

  • mitzerdo u should try redoing this wen u out of berklee to c how much uve changed. (make sure u post it and tell us so we can c)

  • sure!

  • hey mitzerdo where did u learn to play like dis?

  • Uhmmm....

  • im waiting

  • ok, Well.. I took lessons in my country(DR) practiced with a shoe(bad grades never got me a drumset), and now I'm in Berklee, so im still learning.

  • were u at berklee wen u made this or before?

  • that's way before berklee, this was done on summer of 06'

  • u should try redoing this wen u out of berkely and c how much uve changed. (make sure to tell all of us)

  • you have a pretty unique way of playing with the left hand i dont see many people play like that but either way its awesome 2 thumbs um

  • thats not unique at all, most jazz drummers played like this. for example, buddy rich

  • fuck mindpuss!!!

  • Very nice playing... but... I ask myself why you have a drumset... and then pads... and then... trigers... hmmm why not just a Roland TD ?

  • bloody good question

  • Well, I started experimenting with triggers, it seemed a good idea, nowadays I don't use them often. But i currently practice and make videos at home with a td-5. And those you see there are only mesh heads not pads, neither the rubber on the cymbals are

  • Money<< may be..

  • Memory 95, your right about this guy's talent, i love this guys music, and i hope to see more (especially if it's ct music)!

  • Everyone check out my new videos, Im playing some of my own compositions as well as more covers, just hit my username: mizterdo.

  • This is great stuff! What do you have draped over the cymbals? And what drum module are you using? I'm so wanting to compose music and play on electronic drums, so any advice would be helpful. I also love the spoken word samples!

  • ok, I just have rubber cuts over my cymbals to mute the sounds, I grabbed those from a company I use to work with Module is a Alesis DM4 which I don't recommend for my playing style plus is kinda ancient(93' i think), keep tune I may compose something with "spoken word samples" too.

  • Thanks! I have an idea, based on looking at your vid here. What if I were to buy some cheap hi-hat cymbals like your Pearl cymbals, put some Sound Off pads on them and make them into triggers. But if I'm using a Roland TD-3 or TD-6 module, how would I attach a trigger to the hi-hats? This might be beyond you, so don't worry if you don't know. Thanks again for any info.

  • well, if you look closely on the cymbals you're going to notice duck tape and this little circles around them, those are stick on triggers, a 5pack runs for around $29 on ebay, they have this really hard to take off glue though

  • Amazing!

  • that spam was a retraction from me sry def7on3s i meant 999ensuri999

  • By the way i ratd all the comments, and def7on3s. You suck

  • Ive seen and rated a lot of ct movies and other stuff. im a guy thats hard to impress cause im always giving bad reviews, but i have to say this is awesome and if u think otherwise then you suck or have bad taste

  • sry

  • This is pretty awesome... I'm curious what's goin on with his kit(the pad thingies)

  • my guess is the sleeves over the symbols are pickups.

  • excellently done this is fair play

  • That was beautiful man, 5/5, keep it up!

  • God damn, haters just come out of the wood work here on youtube, huh?

Anyways, great playing man. I'm sure you're able to distinguish between good comments, and utterly retarded ones.

  • For those novices out there that don't know shit

the actual term for the way hes holding his sticks is call "Traditional"

    usually used by jazz drummers

    While everyday drummers use "Match-Grip"

just letting u foos know wats up

and the videos real..he is playing

  • dumb people must die, seriously...hes obviously playing drums i know for fact, next moron that says hes fake should get their head checked

  • chilloutbud is so f*cking right...and you are dumb!

  • No it's not fake....it's called a drum trigger...they can be used in many ways...this guy is using them to compensate for his lack of skill.

  • look at that fuckin faggit who sed that it was horrible...you should fuckin die man..this guy is good..and you obviously know nothing about drums...and the other douche bag should die to..who sed that hes holding the sticks weird..thats a fuckin style you douche, and he is playing..so stop saying shit if u dont no anything

  • dere alot uf type ur holdin a drum stick...bt i like holdin lyke dat.....jazz style

  • I can't say that I have ever heard Pearl cymbals sound so good. Lol good playing

  • love the music but this is horrible

  • boo hoo this is horrible im a sissy girl waaa no need to cry over it pansy

  • fuck you. Thats how a lot of drummers hold their sticks. You obviously dont know crap about drumming so f**k off and dont bother commenting here again.

  • its not fake he is doin it...its just lapsed a little bit by like 1/4 of a second

  • fakeeee!!

  • nice mattress

  • Cool!!!!

  • yo dude who is that bad ur playin to... thats crazy..i luv that joint

  • Nice play man can i get an mp3 of this song it great

  • realy nice! very very very good! nice job^^

  • WHAT DA FUCK???

  • real nice drumming, keep on it :)

  • Sweet, Chrono trigger!!! That is a really awesome drum set too! How did you make the cymbal triggers, and hi hats triggers? What are you running everything through? Nice playing too by the way!!!!

  • The music is from the arranged version of the soundtrack. The CD is called "The Brink of Time". You can find the cover of the CD if you just google it. It's got like a breakfast set on the cover. I've had the CD for like 8 years. This is the first track on the CD. Mizterdo just played his drum part over the soundtrack. Some parts do sound different, but it feels like the majority of the drum part is what was there originally....
