The riff, in notes, from start to finish is: D F# B F# as semiquavers - a semiquaver is a quarter of a beat. DBF# are the notes in a B major chord. Repetition of the notes of a chord is called an arpegio and this function is integrated into the arpegiation function of most synths. The second arp is the same chord with the F# an octave higher, other one there is AC#E (A major) and it goes on.

@flabsy Lol yeah I realized that the day after I posted, just didn't bother writing anything back. I think the point I was tryign to make was that in arpegiating chords like this you can put together the stable base of a song and then modulate the arpegiation in terms of octaves, arrangement and rhythm to mix up the song for transitions from verse to chorus etc without actually having to do anything overly complicated in terms of composition theory. But yeah, it is a B minor chord lol.
