I was thinking of buying this game , but on there forum everyone is complaining the new update made the game broken, do you have the update and how is it working for you.
Awesome game... but... that music... I swear I've heard that somewhere before. I want to say it's from a JRPG but can't place it haha. Anyways, very fun game! Nothing like watching a destroyer go toe-to-toe with a battleship in the dark.
@kotori87 I don't have Silent Hunter but apparently there are battleship mods that let you play surface vessel battles. The graphics are really amazing. You should check it out. I'm like you - I really enjoy battleship sims. I wish there were more of them around.
@rocketshipstud1 I'm working on it, ever so slowly. Progress is very slow, though, when I hardly have enough time to play the game, let alone plan, film, and edit a video about it. Hopefully I'll get some progress during summer break.

ok I did one also looked great and used window movie maker and converted to .WMV file and it looks like crap. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong? Thanks Kotori87....
I have never been fond of the WMV format or windows movie maker. Since that's what you have, though, try outputting to a very high quality (high bitrate), then use an outside program to recompress it into xvid or .h264 format.
In game there are plenty of gun sounds and damage sounds. And engine sounds, and splash sounds, and shells-whistling-by-overhead sounds. About the only sound that's missing is the admiral saying "there's something wrong with our bloody ships, today".
Yes. Both sides still had predreadnoughts in operation during WWI, and the British still had a number of armored cruisers, as well. In fact, the last minute or so of this video shows an encounter between British PDNs and German BCs.
It's a very high-detail, high-realism, real-time tactical and strategic-level Naval Fleet simulator set in WWI. They also have a version set in the Russo-Japanese war, and will be releasing their first expansion for the WWI game next month. You can play the demo for free, using the method I described earlier in the comments, but like all games you'll have to pay for the full version. Game developers this good don't work for free, you know.

Alas, there are very few proper sound recordings of battleship guns firing. Since taking this video, I have installed a sound mod that improves the sound of the guns, but it's still far from perfect. I don't think my subwoofer could handle much more than that, though...

@thetitanicisdead There's a mod for SH3 that allows you to play as certain German capital ships,Bismarck,Scharnhorst and a few others.
Type in SH3 warship mod on google and you're bound to find it.
It totally changes the game plus you can use the map editor to make surface warship missions.

Yes. The full name is Distant Guns II: Jutland, by Storm Eagle Studios. I would highly recommend it for any naval wargamer.

Did you use Fraps and Window movie maker? How did you setup FRAPS.....ie what were your settings. The graphics look great.

I used FRAPS, set to record 30fps at the full resolution of my monitor. I used Adobe Premiere for editing.
