  • Stock s2000 is 49front / 51rear , but now its 50/50 with the 93lbs !! And on the road its so economic on gas !!!

  • I wanna know what the gas mileage is on that bad boy. I know someone with an LS1 engine in an older tahoe who gets like 20 something mpgs. That s2000 weighs half as much so it's gotta be over 30.

  • You can easily get the same horsepower out of the stock motor and still retain the perfect balance of the car. It's badass, sure, if you just wanna go in a strait line, but the incredible handling of the S2000 is ruined.

  • @MarcAndAllison With turbo sure but if you ever get the chance to drive a NA V8 one thing you will notice is that it has huge torque at every RPM, that's why all the Formula Drift guys do V8 swaps. With small displacement + turbo there's just no torque on the low end.

  • @McFly2015AD like I said, it's badass, but this was designed as a track car, not a drag car. If you've ever driven an S on a track, you understand what a technological masterpiece the S2000 is, and what a waste of the other high performance qualities of the car this is. I'd never do this to mine in a million years, but, to each his own.

  • @McFly2015AD Besides, most turbo S2000's in the 400 -500hp range are putting down 275-300 tq. On a stock engine, with few other upgrades. Higher HP than an LS1, and not far behind in TQ. Best of all, they're keeping the integrity of a light weight track car intact.

    It's fine that you don't care for the V8, but "not far behind in TQ"? The Stock LS1 makes significantly more torque than the turbo F20C you quoted. HP is fun but torque is not to be underestimated at all.

  • @sixt9coug The F20C made Wards' top 10 engines 4 years in a row. The S2000, with badass stock engine made Car and Driver's list of "10 cars you must drive before you die", not the corvette, camero, or anything else with an ls1. Like I said, the ls1 is badass, But so is the F20C, especially turbo'd. I'm just not willing to trade 150 horsepower, reliablilty, gas mileage, and 9000 rpms......so I can say I have a heavier car, a v8, and 80 more lbf-ft of torque.

    The LS1 was also named one of the 10 best engines too so it's not a bad engine at all.

    Define reliability though. The LS1 is hardly unreliable, it can make more than 500hp reliably and the fact that a Corvette with an LSX/T56 can get up to about 28mpg in a heavier car, I would imagine that the lighter S2000 might even get better mileage with the V8 than the F20C. That 9000rpm redline also brings 4K+ rpms on the freeway while cruising. LS1+T56 is maybe 1500rpm.

    BTW, the F20C is around 325 lbs. LS1 is 420lbs. It's less than a 100lbs gain and the total vehicle weight gain with the trans (T56s are heavy), headers and all is around 165 lbs.

    Not terrible at all. Adding a turbo would add weight too so an S2000 won't maintain a 50/50 weight distribution when you add a turbo, intercooler, and all the piping up front.

    The S2000 is a fun car, but god there's NO torque. Yes, I've driven both S2000s and Corvettes to compare.

Saw a friend who put an ls7 in his datsun 240....that was much worse than this. you need lots of skill to fit an engine like that in a small car. the ls1 isn't much bigger than the f20, infact, it's a litle shorter, but much heavier. I would have stayed with the stock though. Love the way it goes all the way up to 9000 rpm!

  • @kushinism How much would it cost compared to just swapping to a LS1/LS2/LS3/LS6/LS7 with a T56 trans? You realize the F20/F22 have very high compression ratio so the pistons need to changed out to a lower compression ones. That in it self would cost few grand to do let alone buying a turbo or supercharger kits.

  • hmmm no way in hell the LS is the same weight as the 4banger the S2k comes with stock... even comparing Iron blocks to Full alloy LS motor .... the difference between the 2jz and the LS is like 70 LBS and that is an iron block 6 cyl.

  • @RaptorV1USA A F20C weighs 326 pounds; a F22C1 would weigh slightly more because of the bigger crank. A LS1 weighs 385 pounds with oil in it. So 59 pounds heavier, but it is lower/shorter and can be mounted further back. It isn't going to make much, if any, of a difference in handling.

  • I make this swap 2 years before and im really happy to run it whitout problems ... More than 25000milles , only a ring/pinion on the diff and the problems is gone whit 3.91 ratio !! All works on the cluster and elec p/s , all things in this car is adapted to runs like original !!
