Moontan, 3rd favoruite album of all time, pipped by "Revolver" and "Nursery Cryme", beating "After Bathing At Baxters" and the Banana Album!! Settle for nothing less than the Australian release, Radar Love, Candy's Going bad, The Vanilla Queen, Blue Tree Blue Sky, Are You Receiving Me". "Dark Side of the Moon" and "Houses of the Holy" come a tad later!!! Then "Stormcock", ABBA selftitled, and "The Queen Is Dead".
Thanks for posting . Moontan is one of my all time favorite albums, from the time it was released, to the present day . Many a day spent listening to this while cruising . The cars and playing format changed, but the music stayed the same . l also have it on LP in excellent shape and surprisingly my turntable still works fine .
you're welcome; this version of the album is my favorite and is one my top 10 all time LPs. I've been listening to it regularly since '74 and love it more than ever. every song is a wonderful harmonic piece. golden earring are penultimate european rock n rollers; the music pulls me to mythical places.
If you would have stayed up to date on technology, you might have a copy of Moontan on DSD. I have it and am now afraid to open the case. I can not find any reference to it. To hear this album in 7.1 surround is awesome!
I saw them at Magic Mountain in So. Cal. 1984. The singer played lead guitar. and played Bass with his feet. the drummer had this weird ass neon drumbset and glowing drumbsticks. Almost put Pink Floyd to shame,......almost.
Still the best album I've ever heard, including any Zep (have em' all), Beatles (same), Floyd' (likewise), Pixies (ditto), etc., etc. Unbelievably underrated and phenomenal album!!!!!!!!!! Amazing song too, of course!
@danhook1 just like Roxy Music and Country Life album - so silly - but I have the naked ladies cover - funny stuff - the world was so strange but somehow so much more fun
They just make themlike this anymore :) Thanks for posting I fell over it by accident excellent

Any of you ever heard the band, "It's a Beautiful Day?" If you like Golden Earring, you'll like them too....
SteveB801 8 months ago
They were influenced by the first Roxy Music album here, even down to the cover artwork.
"Moontan"...such an imaginative album title (as opposed to "suntan".....;], I can relate to that, (being a moon bather myself)

@PAULLONDEN uh, thats not the original cover
dontbringmedown1900 5 months ago
@dontbringmedown1900 This cover was banned in the U.S. for silly reasons.
The Earring had to replace it with something a bit less flamboyant.

@PAULLONDEN
It's the original UK cover. I bought my copy on the day it was released and that's exactly like mine.
Golden Earring often release different versions in different parts of the world.

There is so much more to Golden Earring than just Radar Love. It's a shame that is the song that most folk knows the band for.
