  • i like viola's bowing

  • Hey where did u guys find this duet sheet music? Im trying to find it for cello/violin but if i can find viola/violin i can just transpose it.

  • @Garrettguy457 I found it in a store in Chicago. Masters Music Publications, Inc.

  • @Garrettguy457 you can go on imslp, its in public domain now. put imslp into google, then in the search bar in imslp, put the title of the piece. I'd put the link to the pdf, but alas, I can't figure out how to outsmart youtube!

  • @wierdo1232123 thanks!

  • @Garrettguy457 No problem. Happy playing!

  • What is the difference between a viola and violin?

  • @pianopam1 Fame and fortune? Actually, there's a pretty good introduction video - just search for "Paul Dateh viola".

  • why is it that ppl have to tell others how they are playing!!!? Why do this if u do not have a video of u doing it any better-who are u to critizize their play if they play well enough!!

  • hahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

  • Viola, I liked your lento section; took your time on the 64th run w/violin following you well. However, there was no communication/eye contact and the 2 of you were not blending at all, especially in the last section. Make sure you guys are in the same parts of your bow and are playing articulations the exact same way for blend. Otherwise, kudos for hashing through a very difficult piece!

  • @BoiMusician its doesnt matter about bowing and articulations as they are playing two different parts.

  • @allthenamesrtook Yes, it does matter. If one is playing a staccato, for example, a little longer or shorter than the other, then they are not together as an ensemble. Just as when one is playing in a different part of the bow than the other, one can obtain a different sound playing in the different part of the bow, therefore not playing together as an ensemble (meaning unified as a sound). Yes, they are playing different parts but they do not sound unified as if it were one stringed instrument.

  • @allthenamesrtook When you have time, listen to the Emerson String Quartet, for example, especially live. They have a phenomenal ensemble sound and blend amazingly with one another so well because they match bowings and articulations among other things. Despite playing different parts, being consistent and playing the same bowings, and especially articulations, equates to a unified sound and ensemble that plays together.

  • @BoiMusician they are professional and what i ment is that it isnt required to be the same for them to be perfectly playing with one another

  • @allthenamesrtook Yes, the Emerson String Quartet are pros because they play together as an ensemble, i.e. using the same amount of bow for articulations, playing in the same parts of the bow, etc. Otherwise, it would sound sloppy and not a professional ensemble. However, I do NOT mean playing the same exact parts as if they are in unison. If this is what you meant, you need to be specific. Even if they were in unison the bowings and articulations do matter. Any pro string player knows this...

  • @BoiMusician the bowing does not have to be the same even though they are playing together most pro violinists and cellists ect perfer to play the same was as it is seen as the orthadox way of playing but this isnt true aslong as u get the right notes and vibrato is isnt necisary to play the same way.

  • @allthenamesrtook Well if they want to sound cleaner, together as an ensemble, and more professional then it's required. Again, any professional string player would tell you this, let alone any well schooled musician. Of course, what would I know, someone who's been playing violin for 16 years, viola for 9 years, has a degree in music, play on tours, play with symphonies, teaches privately, and is a professional freelancer......

  • @BoiMusician you sound very well trained and so am i im currently taking my grade 8 in piano and im also doing a university degree and im only 16 and also i know pro violinists and cellists even my teachers compose music for things on tv and i have asked them and they have all said IT IS NOT REQUIRED to sound proffesional although most people think it does and its also easier that way.

  • @allthenamesrtook Look carefully at what I stated in my very first comment, " Make sure you guys are in the same parts of your bow and are playing articulations the exact same way for blend." FOR BLEND. Let me reiterate this: FOR BLEND!! As in not sounding together and BLENDING!!! Listen to this clip again BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT BLENDING!!!! As in they DON'T SOUND TOGETHER LIKE AN ENSEMBLE AND BLENDING!!!!!... You know what, I'm done because you don't get it and aren't even trying to understand.

  • I performed this piece for my friend's undergrad senior recital and it's so much harder than the Passacaglia.

  • i like it
