Well all I've seen is PS3 60 gigs freeze.. No 360's.. I got gta 4 for the 360 and have had it for 2 weeks now and not one freeze/overheat or anything.. It's the ps3
i agree with wekben its not about which is better. i own both of them and they r great. however im waiting to get it so the bugs will be fixed. i dont want to waste 60 bucks on a game that crashes all the time. im also not gonna get it for 360. i dont want the red ring

Just be happy that it didn't "brick" your PS3. Mine hung on me hard. The HD light was off, so I shut the main switch off. It came back up with "HD is corrupted, Press X to restore". It did that, over and over. I pulled the drive, and initialize/create partition on it on my computer, then the PS3 was able to format it and it works again.
THANKFULLY your COD4 rank and crap is stored on their servers, because of course everything else is gone. 8gb thumb-drive now a permanent fixture for backup.

From what I gather by watching it, the "not loading properly" which you describe sounds like just texture popping, not actually an issue with the game itself.
Dude have you tried to lay your PS3 horizontal and level? Even though that machine technically can be stood upright, I personally don't recommend that position. If the laser inside of the unit is a sliver off it may not be able to read the game properly. If it was the game it would freeze with the same circumstances over and over. Just an idea, let me know if laying the system flat helps.
Mine has always done that, and does the loading screen freeze thing that happens here when I simply start the game from the X Media Bar. I've deleted and started again 3 times, and it still happens. I'm leaving it now until I get a patch - back to COD4 for me.

yep just play with the internet disabled. I discovered that on my own when I first got the game. THAT SHOULD HELP 200% untill theres a patch so you can play it without freezeing with the network ON.

Try disabling your network connection it runs fine for me now but I cant play online. Hopefully they fix it but yea try turning your internet connection off and hopefully it works like it did for me.
