  • that was really cool how you did the background trees during the first minute of this video...thats a way that ive never seen before and it looks so much more realistic

  • beautiful painting how long did it take u to really understand and learn to control gouache? i havent used it yet but i will soon

  • Damn this is good 18 people clicked dislike because there jealous

  • I thing this is a acrillic tecnic

  • Magnifique travail!Félicitations!

  • Sorry for the confusion, my son posted this for me. I only laid in the initial light brown with watercolor, the rest was done with gouache. Also it was done on illustration board. And I used winsor and newton designer gouache. If you want to see really great work done with gouache, google carl brenders.

  • for those who are wondering you can do light on dark in watercolor using dry brush. That means your brush starts dry, then you load the liquid watercolor paint without adding water (or very little) and apply it to the painting. i guess you could say this is more of a gouache style because of the opacity of the tones he's using.

  • I can understand how that took 30+ hours.

    That just looks.... Utterly amazing...

Honestly, I'm almost lost for words.

And it's great to see the amount of layering that went into that picture.

It's given me a new appreciation for Watercolour.

  • at first i thought this was going to be a well done, but mediocre painting, but as it came together, i said ....wow this is wonderful

  • Very stunning. I love this. Well done. I didnt uderstand why you put brown underneath the initial first 4 blocks. As this is a new field to me I would love to know more.

    Thanks for this video.

  • presume its guache rather than transparent watecolour.

    background?

    gouache?

  • Beautiful work.

  • BRUTAL !!!

  • wow cool

  • Wow! Beautiful painting. I imagine you must be combining guauche with transparent watercolor as well.

The speed painting is fascinating, but it would be nice if it were slowed down some so that your technique could also be studied.

    Thanks

    audacide

  • though it was weird there was no mouse on it at the and, was kinda disappointed.... then i saw i misread it ...

  • Huge patience had this artist....and care about any detail.

  • beautiful painting

  • that was fantastic.

  • some people are born brilliant...and you my friend...have a gift.

  • what an amazing painting...should probably call it trees...as the moose took so little time..

  • I'm curious- at the beginning, you paint an area with brown then paint it over with blue. What was that for? That question aside, it's a beautiful piece. Wonderful work, keep it up.

  • Beautiful work. Was this all watercolor? I seen you going light over dark quite a bit and I didn't think that was possible. Pardon my ignorance, I use oils only and would like to give water color a try sometime.

  • Not trying to sound like an art buff, but to answer your question, I think he used White Gouache for light on dark parts.

  • Sorry for the confusion, my son posted this for me. I only laid in the initial light brown with watercolor, the rest was done with gouache. Also it was done on illustration board. • Wonderful video and art work. I am rather new at youtube, but have been an artist for quite a while. You can check out my little video on here. I would love to know the process that goes into making a timelaps movie like this one.

  • Wow! VERY nice.

  • OMG!!!

that is just amazing, i don't have other words!!!

  • I like people with skills in youtube. This pushes me forward to want to do something more.

  • Oh my goodness. Terrific!

  • That is amazing.

  • Very nice work!

  • This is water colour? Wow, it looks so thick and rich. More like gauche kind of.

  • Thanks for uploading the version of this track without the talking and singing.

  • Do you paint interiors.... bedrooms, living rooms, bathrooms, ect. ? Just kidding, Hey you've got a ton of skill, keep it up! ...Most Excellent!

  • hoooly shit

  • Bob Ross would be proud! Those are some good trees. Nicely done =)

  • Awesome but...thats not watercolor. You cannot use watercolor to add light like that. That is tempera or guache or...you are using watercolors as tempera, technique wise. But in this case a double technique will be maybe better. Peace

  • YEAH! 5 stars! A+

  • Inspirational! Would you consider posting a series of shorts explaining your technique? I always struggle with watercolour. Excellent!

  • absolutely amazing! keep it up. i love people who can express their minds so vividly in this kind of stuff. just boggles the mind. you've definitely got a talent.

  • RESPECT!!....to both creative artist & audio masters!!!

in dutch vmjk = Vuil Misselijk Jankend Kutmenneke

the painting is AWESOME ! excellent work mate !

  • hey go get a life

  • Go get a life? He is an artist for a living, that is his life. Nice job though at being an idiot, you nailed it.

  • vmjk your just a hater, he worked hard on that and its shows, He's a whole lot more talented than you so if I were you I wouldnt have said that

  • Acojonante

  • its a very impressive project, keep at it

  • that is effing incredible

  • I'm amazed to hear some douchebag taking a shot at you for doing 'a banal subject'. Then again, with millions of people on the internet, you're bound to catch a couple of ignorant little bridge-dwellers.

Anyways, I thought it was awesome. I love watching artists do what they do--especially with arts I'm trying to pick up.

    Keep at it, man.

  • Beautiful!

  • agree! ^^ love the music too!

  • this is not watercolors! its acrylics!! watercolors are transparent! dude... someone who is as good as you are... should know that! btw great work

  • Actually the underpainting is watercolor and the rest was done with gouache (opaque watercolors)

  • aha! okay... then that will be something i will experiment with later on ;) thanks for the reply

  • great patience man

  • Wonderful work. Subscribed!

  • Very nice!

  • good skills but i dont like his style

  • why on earth did you choose the most boring and banal topic for this picture? it's almost stereotypically banal

  • It's beautiful!

  • Insticus, who the hell do you think you are?

  • dam

  • absolutely amazing, great job man, it's so beautiful.

  • woah, better than what i can do !

  • damn

  • I love the way you can blend so efficiently. I'd love to see an oil speed painting by you. I understand the time and effort that goes into painting being a painter myself. Its a very nice piece of work and has inspired me to do more watercolours! Thankyou

  • Interesting way of actually painting out the landscape - trees are behind trees for example...painted over and you can tell from the video but im sure that must give a far better end result...I had trouble keeping up with the number of layers of paint going on! Excellent work :)

  • really, really, really nice work

how much do these kind of paintings cost (to buy, not to create)?

  • For a giclee print on canvas $250 and for the original about $2200

  • It's a very weak watercolorist who requires so much white. Tell your dad to go gouache.

  • It actually is gouache watercolors.

  • Gouache is not watercolor and your father is no more talented than your average Thomas Kinkade factory employee. It was a wise choice to keep the lights as dim as you did because it's really quite sloppy work for a 30 hour project.

  • As a fellow artist (I presume), you should know the definition of "constructive criticism".

  • "constructive criticism" would have been saying something like "your progressing here, but you may want to practice this" not "your father is no more talented then your average Thomas Kinkade factory employee"

  • Exactly my point. :)

  • Your one of the first people I've seen spell Gouache right :P. Aside from that, your being very hipacritical. If your going to "critique an artists work", well if your going to say something like that, don't say anything at all,as that was just plane rude.

  • Oh, thank God!!! I was worried that you were using transparent watercolors and that I'd missed some special trick that would let me work from the middle to dark and light, which is my preference. It's always been my biggest struggle to maintain those pure whites in just the right shape and place with transparent pigments. So, thank you, thank you for reminding me of gouache! I'm going to have to re-explore them. Your artwork is beautiful and beautifully done!

  • you're a douche insticus; this is pretty damn cool.

  • It's a very weak intelligence which requires so much arrogant pedagogy to feel superior.

  • Take note ladies.

  • simply amazing...

    wow. im speechless.

    great work

  • that's really really cool

    what song is this?

  • Furious Angel instrumental

  • Obviously a Bob Ross fan. :) heheh

  • I love the feeling of that picture... just the massive scale of the forest and huge open space... makes me want to go take a nature walk.

  • The attention to detail in the painting is simply amazing. Great job!

  • That was amazing! Great job. You are very talented.
