BTW, I wanna go to UK to study Product Design. I love designing cars and technology gadgets. I've also heard of Industrial Design and Automotive Design, but I think this major best covers the field that I want. :)

If you want to change the archetype of this object, think of its advantages as well. I see what you are saying. As an industrial designer I can see what you mean by thinking before making random shapes.
Thats the difference I have noticed between industrial designers and product designers. Industrial designers are actually trained to create new product categories. On the other hand product designers have greater sketching and CAD skills. But I.D people can acquire those skills later.
