We never claimed Ali (A.S) to be God. All we say Panjthan/Ahle Beith (A.S) existed before Adam was created.

Allah Says in Surah Baqara (the Second and the largest Surah of the Holy Quran) that he made Adam learn some specific words to utter in front of angels.
