  • From patient w/ significant fusion experience.

Two cervical fusions (one w/o hardware in '95, one with in 2002). go w/ hardware!

An L4-L5-S1 posterior (from the back) taking 7 hours, in 2007, and recently (Dec. 2009) a Direct Lateral Interbody Fusion, fusing my L2-L3-L4, eventually fusing five consecutive vertebrae.

The procedure is as touted. Fusion took just over 2 hrs., & out of hosp. in 48 hrs.

Criticism, post-surg pain severe for 2 weeks, but have high opiate tolerance.

    Quick recovery!

  • oh and it only cost me 7000 euros, no need for the stupid prices you get told about

  • I had spinal fusion by the latest minimally invasive technique 12 weeks ago L4, L5, i was swimming after three days, playing gentle golf in 6 weeks, and full out golf at 12 weeks, previously i had 21 years in 3 corsets to keep me standing, my life is transformed, I reccommend it to anyone

  • my screws are broken and i have to have another operation!

  • yes they do so that the site is stable for new bone to grow. sometimes the instrumentation can be removed a few years later if the fusion is solid.

  • great,just like my surgery.

  • do all spinal fusion procedures require the insertion of screws and rods
