I'm a 1982 Grad of Kent State and remember the years following the 1970 shootings quite well. I had a cousin who was a freshman at KSU in 1970 and had helped a fellow student into a building after being tear gassed. That was a very different time.. Vietnam was going on and tensions were far more extreme than anything students have today.
Unfortunately, there will always be a body of students who basically go nuts with the consumption of beer. It's always been that way..

Some of you guys have no clue. It was probably a sporting event or some sort of field day. CollegePark was like this sometimes and I would bet that most schools get like this on 'special occasions'. Just let them be drunk, being an asshole will only make the whole situation worse.

You people are morons. There was private property, not owned by the students, being destroyed. The houses and surround areas were being damaged. The police have the responsibility to protect those areas and the property in them. And the Kent Police will continue to be "dicks" as long as brainless twats like you find ways to rationalize irrational behavior. Further testament that the fabric of this nation is unraveling. Maybe once you grow up, get a job and buy property you'll get it.

I'm a 1982 Grad of Kent State and remember the years following the 1970 shootings quite well. I had a cousin who was a freshman at KSU in 1970 and had helped a fellow student into a building after being tear gassed. That was a very different time.. Vietnam was going on and tensions were far more extreme than anything students have today.
Unfortunately, there will always be a body of students who basically go nuts with the consumption of beer. It's always been that way..

1982? were you there for the near riot, or the legend of the near riot, at the showdown of "tent city" when the dozers came in to start construction on the gym annex that was built over what some saw as sacred ground (1970)? i can see how some things could escalate...i was standing waaaay off to the side taking pictures and got tear gas tossed right at my feet...kinda pissed me off when prior to that i really didn't care....got some great pics but i really should be been studying....
