Is it just me or does Paul Shaffer not sound ok? He's usually high strung. He sounds like he's had a stroke or something, but I haven't been able to find anything on the internet??
@aviben50 No I am not a "psyops agent," nor do I have any more time on my hands than evidently do you, to have likewise posted comments here.
"Too much . . . time on his hands?" Why does that always come as the standard and trite reply of anyone questioning those who post multiple comments on a web page? Even at a dozen or so posts, this is hardly more than a page or so of copy, which any fairly literate person could easily manage in a short amount of time.
@aviben50 Is it because most are intimidated by writing of any significant length? Have we become that lazy about reading?
Did you not also consider not everybody works a 9-to-5 occupation, that some may work second or third shift hours; or that the person posting may be in a different time zone than yourself, in another continent, perhaps, and may already be home from work?
@gymnastix -- great idea, wonder why no one has done this. Maybe it has something to do with Phil's "status?" But that shouldn't have anything to do with the music...
@aviben50 No it shouldn't. In fact, Spector's company continues to draw profits even in his extended "public housing" status.
Plus Harvey Phillip needs to continue his recordings' income, so he may pay back the settlements of Ronnie, Darlene and their co-litigants, who finally prevailed in their back royalties' suits, but have not been receiving timely payments.
@aviben50 Actually, there was some sort of Spector Christmas LP reunion, I think with Sonny's and/or Cher's participation, back in the 1980s, at The Bottom Line in New York.
Ellie Greenwich, the late, great Brill Building songwriter (and Rock & Roll Hall Of Famer, along with ex-husband and partner Jeff Barry) was still alive then, and involved in that reunion performance too.
But never, to my knowledge, has there been one on television. It's high time!
Super! Hey Paul: How about Ronnie Spector's "Sleigh Bells" as a prelude to this great annual tradition? Two for the price of one and all that. Wonder what Spector thinks of this from his solitary perspective? Thanks again for this.
@aviben50 Then Darlene and Ronnie could duet for the finale, of their 1992 cover (on "A Very Special Christmas - Volume 2" CD) of Brenda Lee's "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree."
@aviben50 Having Ronnie Spector perform Leroy Anderson's "Sleigh Ride," as well "Frosty The Snowman" and "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" (The Ronettes' three tracks from "A Christmas Gift For You From Phil Spector"), Love also performing "Marshmallow World" "Winter Wonderland," and her rendition of Irving Berlin's "White Christmas" (first popularized by Bing Crosby), her other tracks off the album, making a whole evening's Yuletide concert of "The Late Show," would be the very best idea!
@aviben50 Time permtting (and maybe David Letterman, himself, could buy another half hour of network time?), perhaps Darlene and Ronnie could also sing a few or a medley of each's respective, non-Christmas hits; Ronnie singing "Be My Baby," "Baby, I Love You," "(The Best Part Of) Breaking Up," "Walking In The Rain," and "Do I Love You?," Darlene singing "He's A Rebel," "He's Sure The Boy I Love" and "(Today I Met) The Boy I'm Gonna Marry."
@gymnastix Darlene is still actively making live appearances. Maybe doing just this one song on Letterman makes it more special coming just two days before Christmas. I believe some years she has sang another song as the program was ending. I have to tape it since I usually fall asleep before she sings.
@aviben50 In fact, why not also invite surviving Ronette Nedra Talley Ross, plus Barbara Alston, La La Brooks, and Dee Dee Kennibrew of The Crystals, as well Bobby Sheen and Fanita James (Love's partners in Bobb B. Soxx & The Bluejeans, James also of Love's in The Blossoms), the other performers on this legendary Christmas recording?
@aviben50 And also try to round up whoever is alive of Gold Star Studio's famed house musicians known as The Wrecking Crew, which includes Glen Campbell and drummer Hal Blaine.
And why not also include perhaps the most famous Gold Star session vocalist of them all--Cher? She sang back-ups on "Be My Baby" and The Righteous Brothers' "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin." I am uncertain of her credits on the Christmas LP. But she would certainly not be "unconnected" (and would draw big Nielsens).

Is "gymnastix" a military contractor psyops agent with too much mutlibilliondollar taxpayer funded time on his hands?

@aviben50 Or maybe the poster is of independent means, or self-employed? There are truly many variables a non-narcissist would consider.
