This was made while ub40 were on tour they played at birminghams ground and channel 4 aired the concert called UB40 sing the blues i recorded the concert but have watched it so many times that my tape has broken i have not been able to get another copy can any one HELP plz
Ub40 had just finished a world tour and this was the only concert they did in their home town. I remember me and a few mates got tickets, well word got about in our home town of Clacton-on-sea Essex that it was on. We ended up booking a 53 seater coach full of family and friends gr8 day out
I always thought he was an absolutely beautiful fox and was shocked when I saw him on the TV a short while before his death. Yeah, like age is not changing me too. He had a serious interest in the music of the world. How I loved this beautiful man.
I have no personal knowledge of Mr. Palmer, but from what I have read about him, he did not do drugs; he was a workaholic and basically worked himself to death, touring and recording. In his BBC obit, it says "... he was not interested in the trappings of rock star fame.
"I loved the music, but the excesses of rock music never really appealed to me at all," he said. "I couldn't see the point in getting up in front of a lot of people when you weren't in control of your wits."
This was meant as a reply to "revdennisr" by the way. Not sure why it didn't link up properly.
I think this is a great intense performance by Mr. Palmer! His vocal performance is in tune, nicely nuanced, and is rhythmically sharp as a tack. I can't see any indication he isn't cold sober. As a comparison, check out the Rod Stewart live version listed to the right.
oh dear it doesnt look like spellingfan wanted you to know he is a middle aged man for thise who missed his comment it read ....''I was at this concert 20 years ago remember like yesterday Palmer was the daddyb but UB40 were the dog bollox''
Something good will happen to you at 9:10. Someone will call you or talk to you online and say 'I love you' or ask you out. But here's the catch: Send To 3 vids
I can just see and hear the horn blowers saying to one another, "if he can, I can" wrt to going and being in front. And I can just see where Robert Palmer encouraged that.
Or was I just too long left out in a breeze as an infant?
Man! they really ZOOMED in on his face didn't they? I don't mind..he was a very handsome man...with gorgeous eyes!! oh yeah, he had a great voice too!... LoL!
I got this bitch utubefanforever off of youtube a few weeks ago. She claimed to know Robert Palmer personally and when you would ask the dumb bitch to tell stories about him, she would get mad and say she didn't have time to go on and on about him. Proof that she was a liar about knowing Robert Palmer. What some people will do to get attention and then can't handle it when they get it and then turn around and stab you in the back when they want to get rid of you.
It's ashame there's so many attention seekers in the World, if she's gonna lie then she should at least have thought ahead for stories!!! Ignore her.lol. xxx
RIP Robert you gave me so much Joy from Sneaking Sally through to Power Station and giving marc Bolan his dues and then back to your solo work never tire hearing you
Brilliant of course. But can anyone understand what he's sayin at the end? something bout thanking UB40 horn section thats all i got haha... RIP Robert

Woohoo! Loving it! Thanks for posting this, and I'm hoping to see more, I can't get enough of Palmer and UB40 performing together! Hell, I can't get enough of Palmer, persiod, and this group just added a dimension to a man already steeped in musical layers too thick to count... And thanks to Robert, who we love and miss.
That dude was awesome

Dony Wynn is the drummer here. But as for the original studio recording, it was Tony Thompson. Nevertheless, both awesome drummers.
