I was Celine's biggest fan 15 years ago so I do not HATE HER, but I am entitled to give my opinion on her new album if so I want to. Sadly, I do not like it. Someone with her status can certenly afford to hire the best songwriters, but most of the material she has been singing lately lacks quality to trancend.
It is boring and predictable. It lacks direction also.
She is a great singer and a great entertainer but with a mediocre repertoir.

Emancipation was one of the best pop albums ever. and MC2 is a terrific sophomore release. she looks better than she ever has, and better than all the hot chicks in music right now. her ability to write and perform great pop hiphop songs, infused with soul, sweetness, sadness, and sass is in full force. yes her voice is damaged, but having had nodules her whole life, what are you gonna do?

you still have to prove yourself, every time you open your mouth. and this album was no different. it was her first studio album in many years, she really needed to deliver. if you have titles you have to defend them. you cant rely on past success. she was proving herself in a new genre, edgier tougher sound, definitely not playin around. and i think she pulled it off really incredibly well. this sound is the most ive ever liked her in

She opened her mouth and did what she wanted and gold spilled out and it shows. It shows she loves these songs just by how they sound! I love pretty much all Celine's cd's but I can feel more of her in this cd then, say One Heart. I don't think she did this cd for shits or anything, and I'm sorry if I implied that- what I meant is that she doesen't have to prove herself because of her past success but she still does good and now it's what she really wants and she loves it and it shows.

yeah i feel you. and i agree with everything, except past success means you dont have to prove yourself. yes you do, old Hollywood addage, you are only as good as your last movie. and it applies to music as well. now yes, loyal fans will stick with you no matter what. but everything you do you still audition. either way, yes I will say, even though Im usually very anti-Celine, this album is the most i ever liked her, this is much better material. and she did a great job with her new sound.

I indeed understand you. I definantly understand, haha! I feel that way about Mariah Carey, but for the worst. I haven't ever been a MC fan, but she showed what talents she had back when, and now it's gone in my opinion and she is where she is because of what she once was, and it doesent hurt that she is catchy.
The jist- Celine is at a moment in her career that after over 25 years of success, she is able to take chances and do a cd full of music that completely appeals to her. :)

i gotta disagree on that. Emancipation was one of the best pop albums ever. and MC2 is a terrific sophomore release. she looks better than she ever has, and better than all the hot chicks in music right now. her ability to write and perform great pop hiphop songs, infused with soul, sweetness, sadness, and sass is in full force. yes her voice is damaged, but having had nodules her whole life, what are you gonna do?

Nah, I don't think so. I can admit when I like someones music and not. If Mariah makes something I like, I'll say I like it. And if she doesen't, then if the topic comes up I'll state that. Not liking someones music doesen't mean someone needs any personal growth. And I'm not 'completely hatin' as some will say because I do believe she once had a large amount of talent back in the early 90's.

That's just it. I don't think those were good records! Mariah circa 1990 compared to Mariah circa now- uncomparable. I can admit that even though I never cared for her, her first couple albums wern't bad. I wouldn't like those cd's if they were new just comming out by anyone [emancipation and e=mc2.

Well I think you should check wikipedia for more in-depth information on the song and the album in general. Ne-yo actually co-wrote and co-produced the song.. Although it isn't specified who he did it with so it could have been R.Kelly but I'm also suspecting that it could've also been Charles Harmon as he(Charles) was also on the track. But my point is Ne-yo is the main man behind the creation this particular song..

Her whole CD - Taking Chances- is like this. She is so versitile, which she never had really shown. She finally decided on "Taking Chances" for this album. She doesnt have to prove herself to anyone, she is just doing what she likes, and she sounds DAMN AMAZING! I love this CD and hearing her sing these songs live is a TRUE PLEASURE.
