that would qualify as abuse i would never drive it into wood but with that being said its awesome to see that the 100 bucks or so you'll pay for this knife is totally worth it i own several benchmades including a pre-production number mini griptillian and ill have to say i love it and when benchmade says life time warranty they mean it ive had to send it back before because of something i did , i didnt have my original recipt but they fixed it sharpened it and sent it back ASAP
Nice to see Crocket show up on a Blade HQ review! The Bechmade Griptilian is definitely a hard charging little folder. As a medic, I opted for the modified sheepfoot blade on my Griptilian. It's been a great blade from day one! I've had it about 3 years now.
I wonder if the folks at spyderco watched this. There are so many ways to use your folder. and I get his point. If you dont try it out batoning locked up then how will you know if it will fail on the average joe? I own a grip, 710, and a 915, a native, an endura, and a resilience. Still looking for the game winner.
This is one of my favorite knives that I do not own... I jus cant afford it right now but an awesome looking knife and I have heard nothing but awesome things about it...
Outstanding. With Crocket there to help put the Grip through its paces, this is a very credible and tough test for the popular Benchmade folder. Well done, friend.
When you purchased the manix... some of us recommended the griptillian based on what you wanted... Can't say we didn't tell you so.. LOL. I have the mini and love it... I do love my spydercos though. Great vid Crocket.
To be brutally honest I've found your blade presentations to be a bit rubbish. But this...this is something else in the most awesome of ways. Crocket is great in front of the camera, photography and production values are ace. I hope Benchmade gave you some money because this is amongst the best commercials for a folder I've seen.
Please do keep this up, as a consumer and customer this is what I want. Great work!
Couldn't have picked a better person for this video, Crocket is first class all the way! Looking forward to more videos like this from BHQ. Be well & Stay safe! -Tim
awesome video with Crocket! I'm going to sub the channel for sure! I really need to save up and get a good camera like yours though! What Kind is it if I might ask?
and upcoming, we use a plastic spoon to open a can of beans :)
I watched it all, and I appreciate why you're doing what you're doing (in a sadistic sort of way) but to many of us it's like beating your pet/guard dog, you're the Michael Vick of folding knives, REPENT !!! this sort knife abuse MUST STOP !!! :)
That was a great idea to bring Crocket in on this review. I've subbed him for quite some time, and of all the videos I've favorited, most of them are his.
Thanks KnifeHQ for the opportunity. Ben the video turned out great! I hope to snatch the pebble from your hand someday ; ) Seriously great vid. And most important, it was just fun getting out to the mountains and having a good time.
@KnifeHQ The funny thing is that if it broke, then benchmade would freak out on you. Since it's good press, they're probably just enjoying the praise of their excellent design.
i enjoyed the shit right out of this, more vids like this please. makes me feel warm and fuzzy for owning that mini griptilian that i won from you guys.
Great video, and no doubt Benchmade makes a great knife. Bit their prices are a little out there. I have a Grip and its a fantastic blade, but they are pricey.
Well done Blade HQ, great video hope we see more like that! Very worthwhile and Crocket gives sensible advise without loads of BS. Overall great job!!
Hey Crocket if they give you knives for making videos thats a great gig.I m kinda stoked on Blade HQ,I mean they are putting effort into selling knives...And thats cool.
Nice vid. Hey Crocket, I am in the camp that would not dream of doing that to my blade but thanks for doing it to yours or, I should say, Blade HQ's. Mel Pardue is an excellent and very experienced designer.
Ok so I guess what I seen from cold steel is a sales pitch about the triad lock, the bench made grip Perdue is 93$ on amazon I guess my figures were wrong on that as well! Sorry for the mis information the griptillian is a better buy even if it costs more :)
@ryanrrx its just my opinion, doesnt have to be others opinion. as for the facts, i only correct whats wrong. the pick between the knives is always up to each person.
When I got my grip it was a dream come true .. And I would never do that to it but if I had to use it like this I now know I could :) but I hope I don't !! Lol
Making a second post to say separately that, a 60$ American lawman would have not broken the lock in the tests you have done, for half the price of the full size knife the cold steel American lawman would have been my choice over this knife, realisticly the new triad lock is just better stronger and works better!:)
@ryanrrx griptilian cost 67 dollars so it nothing like twice the price of a lawman. its the same exact price category and it has superior blade steel. imho aus8 shouldnt be on a 60 dollar knife. and axis lock is better, more convenient and safer. doesnt have to be stronger to be safer. most self injuries happens when closing and opening the knife, which is where backlock fails a lot. strength of the lock only protects from idiocy, but convenience of action protects from accidents... imho
@gavkoo If the tests from this where done on a lockback the blade would have probably gone right back and cold steel would actually improve their blade steel if they switched to the 8cr13mov that spyderco and kershaw use on their chinese ranges
Interesting video however I recall having a conversation with gavkoo about batoning with a folder, he educated me on the fact it should be done in a folding position ie 3/4 of the way open not locked! I agree with this fact! I hope you find it useful as well!
A mighty fine piece of video production! Extremely well produced! Don't forget! If you ever need any voiceover work, let me know! I'd be glad to help out!
Ill admit I did the wigglys in my chest when you started hammering and prying but im very pleased to see a BM walk it off and to get prazed my a spyderco fan since most wouldnt touch a BM
what are your views of the dog visionary II?

shit, batoning with a folder (especially while locked) is fucking abuse lol, but I mean hell at least it gives you an idea of how tough the knife is

For an outdoor heavy use folder i use a CS Recon one

You don't baton a folder with the blade locked. You unlock it and then baton it.
