  • That would be a blast catching one of them .

  • Hey were you using the 150 pound barrel swivel to attatch your leader to your mainline? I'll be attatching my 832 superline 65 pound sufix braid mainline to 5 feet of 80 pound sufix flouro leader with an albright knot and i was just confused

  • @hcoffman100

Ya I guess. I use 250lb swivels now.

  • FUCKIN GOT HESKEY IN A FUCKING PACK, THATS RIGHT BALLSACKS, THUMBS UP FOR HESKEY

  • What would you normally catch in Florida if you cast your bait

  • @Sharps19

It all depends on what location you are fishing

  • IT IS LIKE A GIAND SARDINE........

  • Where were you, what pound line, and what were you using and how?

  • @SedgeProductions

    SE Florida, 65lb braid, Breakaway HDX, Fin-Nor OS9500, and a 7ft leader.

  • how did you get the bait out? cast or kayak

  • @BAMAfisher34

    Kayak

  • loved it

  • Ca me dégoute !!! Pauvre Animal qui n'avait rien demander... !!! Ce sont des personnes sans Coeur ! Même pas l'avoir laissé repaartir !!

  • I have noticed that you use the rod and reel combo in this video and in many of your others. What reel are you using and what rod? Also what rods and reels would you suggest for tarpon and sharks that $200 or less?

  • @GetHookedFishing96

In this video I was using a Breakway HDX and a Fin-Nor OS 9500. You want to spend $200 on an entire combo?

  • @BlacktipH Ya $200 or less on the entire combo.

  • @GetHookedFishing96

Try an Okuma Salina SA-80 with a 12ft Penn Power Stick.

  • ....dinner...

  • where in florada is this bc i coulda swore i was on this beach this last summer

  • @MrSpartan117fan

    SE Florida

  • SUHWEEET!

  • Great catch as always, fellas. Did you guys kayak the bait out (like shark fishing), or just cast to absurdity?

  • @XeroJaeger

    We kayaked the bait out.

  • did u row ur bait out to get it far enough??

  • @loc10000

We used a kayak to take the bait out 150yds.

  • did you release it?!

  • @edanhadj

    Yes sir.

  • @BlacktipH haha ok good job btw thats one nice fish

  • Do you have an estimated guess of how much it weighed?

  • @sexe5k

    Probably 70-80lbs.

  • is boca grande pier a good place to fish?

  • @daniel123s1ckstuffz

I don't know, I have never been there. I am sure it is, Boca Grande has some good fishing.

  • great catch man keep the videos rolling

  • Amazing what a guy with a fishing pole can do. I thought you might have caught that Parasailer for a minute.

  • you usin live ballyhoo or just frozen?

  • @MrBassfisher110

    Frozen

  • I am not sure if Tarpon are bottom eaters or top eaters, how did you place your ballyhoo in the water? Any info would be appreciated.

  • @1973sharkhunter

They will feed off the bottom. We used a kayak to take our bait out.

  • @BlacktipH what beach do u fish on?

  • @modjrisawesome

I don't give out specific spots online, sorry.

  • @BlacktipH ok it cool

  • @BlacktipH interesting had no clue they were bottom eaters, I always had the idea they were top feeders!!!

  • !!

  • i love how theres people swimming right there

  • What rod do you recommande for an Avet LX mc cast singel drag lever reel?

  • @fishingkid2000

Are you willing to spend the money to have a custom rod built?

  • @BlacktipH are custom rods worth it? like even for fresh water, cause i use an ugly stick.

  • @IIxxxACExxxII

Absolutely! Custom rods are built to meet your specific needs (arm length, height, etc...). You can have every part of the rod built exactly where you feel comfortable. If you can find a light e-glass blank, it will be great for freshwater.

  • @BlacktipH How much do they run? i wouldn't know to much about the specifications but i sounds cool.

  • @IIxxxACExxxII

You can spend less than $100 or you could spend more than $1000, it all depends on your budget.

  • Nice One!

  • Nice catch, but it doesn't matter if you released it. That fish is as good as dead. You should never hold a tarpon, let alone drag it on the beach. Watch how many scales its already missing after it rolls around in the surf.

Thumbs up if you want to promote tarpon awareness and help keep them alive!

  • @fragmastergen

The fish swam away and lived. If it died, it would have washed up. Why shouldn't we hold a tarpon? Are they made of glass? If they can jump 10ft of the water and smack the surface of the water, you should be able to hold them for a few seconds.

  • @BlacktipH Yes tarpon are a very strong a fun sport fish, but they are actually surprisingly delicate. One study found that 19% of tarpon tagged and released died shortly there after and these were fish that were never taken out of the water let alone washed up on the shore, covered in sand and help up for pictures. That number was on the high side, but they do have a high mortality rate after release. Exhaustion also makes them more susceptible to falling prey to sharks.

  • @BlacktipH Your fight was a very tough one and I give you kudos from bringing in a good fish, but if you do care about the well being of one of the truly great sport fishes you should research more on the issue.

    myfwc. com/research/saltwater/tarpon/catch-release/

  • @fragmastergen

Why even bother fishing for them then?

  • @BlacktipH The same reason we catch and release all fish? Sport? Research? Whatever your pleasure...

  • @fragmastergen

Check out my new tarpon videos. This was the first tarpon I caught. I never showed the release when I made this video, I now show it in all of them.

  • i like how there were people in the water at first, and then they got out

  • hey come see my fishing videos

  • I can tell your a good fisher from some of the fish in your other videos....

  • how long did it take to reel in

  • @coltsforlife100

I believe it took 20 minutes.

  • Sorry to bother you again, but i recently upgraded my rod and reel and i wanted to know what hooks (brand and size) you would recommend for say a 15-25 lb fish? And if you are familiar with Clearwater, FL where would you suggest to go fishing? Thanks so much. By the way i should let you know im only 14 but very interested in fishing lately. Caught a 14lb catfish last night :) nothing compared to you though ;)

  • @ital3nt3d

Congrats on the catch! Try using a 5/0 circle hook. The Mustad Demon Perfect Circle 3x strong works good. I am not familiar with that area, I would recommend talking to the guys on the South Florida Shark Club Forum.

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for letting me know that you released it! Very cool.

  • It's cool to catch a tarpon from the beach, but I hope you let it go.

  • @Katyblogger

    We released the tarpon.

  • What country do you live in? And what's the name of the beach.

  • @cookingd0gs

I live in the USA. I don't give out specific spots.

  • what reel and rod do you suggest for a fish about this big? And also what type of bait? Thanks!

  • @ital3nt3d

It depends where you will be fishing. You won't use the same setup on a boat as you would on the beach. How are you planning to fish for tarpon, from the beach or from a boat?

  • @BlacktipH From the beach and also how much did that tarpon weigh? Anyways, from the beach. And if possible based on my answer please respond to my first comment. Thank you in advance.

  • @ital3nt3d

That Tarpon weighed probably 70-80lbs. If you have a kayak, I would recommend an Avet LX spooled with 50lb braid and a 7'6" 30-50lb stand-up rod. If you don't have a kayak, I would recommend a 12ft Surf Rod and a Penn 950ssm spooled with 65lb braid. Tarpon aren't picking, anything bloody will work. We caught this tarpon on ballyhoo.

  • @BlacktipH Thank you! So a 12ft surf rod is sufficient? Any specific brands or types of rods you think would be good? Sorry for so many questions, but on average how far would the hook go with all the weight and baits on it if thrown well using the 12ft surf rod? Thank you again much thanks!

  • @ital3nt3d

How much are you willing to spend on a 12ft rod? You can cast 50yds on a good day.

  • @BlacktipH about 100-150 dollars, but is a surf rod necessary if fishing from a pier? I line in Clearwater, FL and i plan to go to a place called skyway bridge and pier 60, i know pier 60 is about 300 yards out but im not sure about the skyway. im thinking of just getting a sturdy rod around 7-8 feet and just use that. Any good rods around that size?

  • why would you wanna hold the line when it was still in the water?

  • @dookiekong007

So I can bring him closer to me.

  • @BlacktipH I know that, but was it necessary because wouldn't the line break.

  • @dookiekong007

I put barely any pressure on the line when I grabbed the line.

  • you have a breakaway rod i have several of them great rods hey nice fish i subb and like this vid

  • did you all release it after?

  • @Edrox5000

    Yes, the tarpon was released.

  • big fishey!!!! :D

  • Wow great job fightin that fish standing on the beach like a true gentleman!

  • good camera

  • I just felt like i played a fpf.. first person fishing

  • hey about where in FL was this? My brother is moving to Clearwater for six weeks and we want to find some good surf fishing spots any help would be great, thanks

  • @djasonmusic1

This is SE Florida. I have never fished Clearwater before, so I can't be of much help. My suggestions is to talk to the locals or try the South Florida Shark Club. There are a lot of west coast guys on there.

  • @djasonmusic1

Clearwater/Tampa area south is all about snook fishing on the beach. Just be sure to check seasons/bag limits/size limits as they do change and are different than the east coast of Florida.

  • Send me your details and I will send you a T Shirt. Regards Nickaway

    Breakaway

  • sieht aus wie ein großer hering

it loks how a big hering

  • @BlacktipH are you serious, live or dead? If dead could you show me your rig man because I've been fishing with doa artificial lures and not getting them

  • @McCloud3211

The ballyhoo was cut in half. I have tried with lures, they don't hit them. They seem to be very lazy when cruising the beaches.

  • @auburntigers1716 amen man except fish are alive I'm pretty positive when I cut a baitfish it feels pain so I do it to live and catch fish to survive

  • @BlacktipH what did you use for bait

  • @McCloud3211

    ballyhoo

  • you didnt bow to the king! if it had of been any bigger that would have been long gone! aha

  • is this off of singer island?

  • Dude your wastin my time but this is kinda entertaining. The PTT kills more tarpon than anything and is a total redneck shitshow. The fact you use that as your argument shows your total lack of knowledge on the matter. No shit its skateboarding.... why do you think I said that.

  • @gshok153 roller skating. the tarpon dont die on the ptt, if they did ud see a bunch of dead tarpon floating... all im saying, is its sportifshing. get over it u pussy

  • yeah man credit on the fish, but you should know better than to handle tarpon for that long, not because of breathing, but stress on the fish. And like 95% of Tarpon releases, you unhook them while their in the water.

  • I'm in Vero Beach.... are there tarpon that big around here?

  • @domster3

    I don't know, I haven't fished for tarpon there.

  • @BlacktipH I livei n miami where can i fish for these tarpoms

  • @PhillipDeGraves

    Try fishing the Keys.

  • Great beach tarpon and great video..looks like with that long rod you guys were surf castin' to em.

  • Good job if you brought it out the water to take pics and get hook out thats fine so why is everyone complaining....the problem is people who havent gone fishing think that a fish will die if its been out the water for 10 seconds

  • Lol. I've just watched all of your videos, there is always one idiot that doesn't watch to the end for you to release it, then comment "why did you kill it, moron."

  • Everyone chill. If you are hating on fishing then you obviously have not been. The thrill of pulling in a trophy fish is like no other and it's not cruel. In the words of Ron White, "A fish is never really alive, it's just less dead."

  • what pound test are you using

  • @nikkovelez

    65lb PowerPro

  • what for? taking pics? idiots

  • @bojenify

Yes, it's called sport fishing. Thanks for watching! Have a great day! :)

  • nice fish!

  • You are a moron. Beautiful fish that is probably dead. Wish someone would have fined you ass for doing that.

  • @gshok153

The fish was released and lived.

  • @BlacktipH good boy

  • @gshok153 what the fuck did he do?

  • @sk84lifem23

DId the same thing you probably would have done. He removed the fish from the water - illegal, dragged it on the beach, filled its gills with sand, took stupid sand covered hero shots, and let it go to probably die 10 minutes later. Now go back to roller skating and shut the fuck up.

  • @gshok153 first its not illegal, second they can live out of water longer than that, even on the professional tarpon tournament, people take pics all the time, its not gunna die, and its skateboarding. so shut the fuck up

  • looks os nice out there

  • It doesn't look sane to me.

  • Awesome catch! Good job! Was this in Jensen Beach, FL?

  • @crisbearsfan

    Nope.

  • Did you eat that one? Looks like it didn't go back in...

  • @usenetposts

    The tarpon was released.

  • Do you have a head-mounted camera ??

  • @Albanez39

    Yup

  • Is that Fort Myers Beach?

  • @JEairforce

    Nope

  • WHAT BEACH IS THAT? TO NOT GO THERE...

  • @Francheska7778

The beach is located somewhere between the coordinates 27.798428,-80.455627 & 25.969486,-80.121918. I don't give out spots. :)

  • Those tarpon r so cool to look at I love catching them how heavy was that one

  • @THEcoolKID4100

    probably 80lbs.

  • another question, when im shark fishing, does cut bluefish and mullet work good?

  • @jimmycriketnew

    Yes they work good.

  • what kind of rig do yall use to surf fish

  • @jimmycriketnew

Double single hook rig with #9 wire.

  • how far did you cast out?

  • @henrydamannn

We kayaked the bait out 150yds.

  • Comment removed

  • nice!

  • You are obviously a better beach fishermen than me! I fish beaches in South Carolina, and I'm lucky to catch baby sharks!

  • @tdawg598

Most of the time its about being in the right place at the right time.

  • @tdawg598 yeah im in south carolina too and i have a pretty difficult time gettin the bigger guys

  • was it live bait.

  • @bradandthedawgs11

    No it was cut bait.

  • @BlacktipH ok thanks man

  • Wow, I didn't know breakaways were that popular. For some reason I thought they were a local brand. They must be pretty good then.

  • what beach?

  • @greendayfan10858

There are tarpon on most of the beaches in Southeast Florida.

  • @BlacktipH im new to saltwater fishing and im going to panama for a week and im gonna try surf fishing i live in kentucky and i do alot of catfishing mostly flathead catfishing whats my best bet of catchin a tarpon down there?

  • @4lifekx

Get a reel with at least 300yds of 50lb braid and a decent surf rod that can cast far. Use two hooks in your rigs. Tarpon's mouth are very bony and it's difficult to catch them with one hook.

  • that fish is HUGE i bet you were about 30feet out in the water i cout a 50 pound carp yesterday it was about 4 feet and i reled it in no help my arms felt like they were going to fall off

  • naples,flordia

  • You do not need to remove tarpon from the water to remove the hook. They should be handled carefully and people who dont understand this should not be issued fishing licenses.

  • @vortecjoe

They're not made of glass. It's not the same unhooking a tarpon on the beach as it is on a boat. Your always above the fish on the boat, not so much on the beach.

  • @BlacktipH live bait down on bottom with some kind of weighted rig?

  • @jgmetals81

We used cut bait with a weighted rig. Live bait is best near the surface.

  • damn thats is a beut the last pic of it it look like a metal fish

  • man thats one of my favorite sights in the world at 0:51. Nice catch and what were you using for bait

  • @huntfishtx

    Ballyhoo

  • dude that water looks dope

  • how do you configure your tarpon leaders?

  • @sloppygerman

From the beach, we use two J hooks, 8 inches apart with a large rock tied to the trailer hook. From a boat, a big circle works good.

  • Nice catch :) ..

  • Thanks

  • Nice catch! how did you get the line so far out?

  • @Mrmoochbag

    kayak
