Your puppy is adorable! But popping air into his face does seem cruel. You're teasing him.  As someone who's raised many, many schnauzers, I'd like to recommend that teasing a puppy is not a good plan.

Teasing is not a good general practice. A small amount as long as it is short term is OK but NEVER traumatize the dog so they develop a phobia that leads to neurotic behavior. Always stop teasing a dog quickly and reassure them it is only a game. I know dogs that love you to blow at them and they smile and lick your face for it, no harm done there.
